MarQueis Gray
News
Browns tight end MarQueis Gray suffered a concussion in Saturday's preseason game against the Lions, reports the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Ben Tate
News
Browns running back Ben Tate is a perfect fit for the team's one-cut zone running system, but "he's definitely never seen boxes stacked the way they'll be against Cleveland," according to CBSSports.com's Will Brinson. That's one effect of receiver Josh Gordon's one-year suspension.

Cleveland has no wideouts capable of threatening defenses the way Gordon did.

Isaiah Trufant
News
The Browns have a lengthy list of players sidelined for Saturday's preseason game against the Rams, as a result of a slew of injuries in recent weeks.

Defensive backs Buster Skrine (thumb) and Joe Haden (foot), and wide receiver Nate Burleson (hamstring) headline the list. Also among the inactives are: running back Edwin Baker (hamstring), defensive backs Pierre Desir (knee), Isaiah Trufant (knee), T.J. Heath (hip) and K'Waun Williams (hamstring), linebackers Eric Martin (concussion), Darius Eubanks (shoulder) and Keith Pough (ankle), defensive lineman Desmond Bryant (wrist), tight end Martell Webb (groin) and offensive linemen Michael Bowie (shoulder), Randall Harris (knee) and Nick McDonald (wrist).

Phillip Taylor
News
The Browns on Friday exercised the fifth-year option on defensive lineman Phil Taylor ’s rookie contract. Taylor is now under contract through the 2015 season.

"It's very evident to us watching on tape and seeing him in person this week that Phil Taylor is very explosive, and he's a great fit for what we want to do on defense," said coach Mike Pettine. "I like his ability to rush the passer and be there to clog up the middle at the point of attack when we need him."

Taylor, the 21st overall selection in the 2011 NFL Draft, has appeared in 39 games with 38 starts. He has registered 130 tackles, seven sacks, two passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

In 2013, Taylor played and started 15 games at nose tackle in the Browns' 3-4 defense after transitioning from defensive tackle. He recorded 57 tackles, two sacks and one pass defensed, helping Cleveland finish ninth in the NFL in total defense, the team's best finish since 1994.

Travis Benjamin
News
Browns wide receiver Travis Benjamin will not return to Monday's preseason game due to a rib injury, the team announced. Benjamin was evaluated for a concussion, but a different injury will prevent him from returning to action after it was determined he didn't suffer a head injury.
Paul McQuistan
News
Free agent offensive lineman Paul McQuistan, formerly of the Seahawks, has agreed to terms with the Browns, reports the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "He has versatility," Cleveland general manager Ray Farmer said. "The guy played a lot of tackle last year. He’s played guard."
Charles Johnson
News
The Browns took a chance on receiver Charles Johnson when he came available on waivers in 2013, only to find out he had a torn ACL. But the Browns have been patient and with the team needing all the help they can get at receiver, ESPN reports Johnson could develop into a part of their offense.

Johnson is 6-foot-2, 215 pounds and famously ran the 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds. He's had a star-crossed college career that began at Louisville and wound up at Grand Valley State, then was a seventh-round pick of the Packers before landing in Cleveland.

ESPN believes Johnson has "too much ground to make up" to be an "instant contributor," but that he's the only guy comparable to Josh Gordon's size and speed among the Browns' receivers.

Leon McFadden
News
In addition to first-round pick Barkevious Mingo, the Browns added San Diego State cornerback Leon McFadden, Notre Dame safety Jamoris Slaughter and East Central defensive end Armonty Bryant.
Dion Lewis
News
Browns running back Dion Lewis suited up and practiced on the team's first day of the offseason program, the Akron Beacon-Journal reported. Lewis broke his leg last August and missed the entire season.
Paul Kruger
News
Browns outside linebacker Paul Kruger managed 4.5 sacks last season, nine fewer than he posted in 2012 for the Ravens. He ranked second on the Browns with 11 tackles for loss.

Cleveland coach Mike Pettine said getting more out of Kruger is a priority.

"(Kruger) had a special year in Baltimore when they won the Super Bowl," Pettine said, per the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "A lot of people think he took a step backward last year. We’re looking forward to getting with Paul and seeing what makes him tick and seeing if we can get him going."

Martin Wallace
News
Tight end Jordan Cameron (concussion) headlines the list of inactives for the Browns on Sunday against the Jets. Also among the wounded on the list is guard John Greco (knee).

The healthy inactives are quarterback Alex Tanney, offensive linemen Reid Fragel and Martin Wallace and tight end Andre Smith .

Nick McDonald

Heath (hip) and K'Waun Williams (hamstring), linebackers Eric Martin (concussion), Darius Eubanks (shoulder) and Keith Pough (ankle), defensive lineman Desmond Bryant (wrist), tight end Martell Webb (groin) and offensive linemen Michael Bowie (shoulder), Randall Harris (knee) and Nick McDonald (wrist).

Chris Ogbonnaya
News
The meager Browns offense Sunday against the Jets featured several meager individual performances. Included among those contributors was wide receiver Josh Cooper, who caught his first four passes of the season for 26 yards.

Also catching two were tight end Gary Barnidge (23 yards) and wideout Brian Tyms (12 yards). Wide receiver Greg Little grabbed one pass for 4 yards before being removed for dropping one in the end zone.

Running back Chris Ogbonnaya rushed for 8 yards on one carry and caught a pass for 4 yards.

Spencer Lanning
News
The Browns list a whopping 16 players on their Friday injury report, but half are probable for the Week 17 battle in Pittsburgh, including All-Pro tackle Joe Thomas (back). The other offensive players among them are running back Willis McGahee (knee) and tackle Mitchell Schwartz (toe).

The four defensive probables are linebackers Paul Kruger (illness) and Tank Carder (shoulder), safety Jordan Poyer (toe) and safety T.J. Ward (shoulder, illness). Punter Spencer Lanning (knee) is also probable.

Josh Gordon
News
Attorneys for Browns receiver Josh Gordon are "considering a lawsuit against the league that would include seeking an injunction to put the [one-year] suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy on hold while the legal process plays out," reports Fox Sports. However, litigation would be a gamble that would endanger Gordon's chances of reinstatement, the report said.

Grossman joins a quarterback group that includes Brian Hoyer, first-round pick Johnny Manziel and undrafted rookie Connor Shaw.

Justin Gilbert
News
Browns cornerback and top pick Justin Gilbert is not only starting his first preseason game Monday in Washington, but he appears on the verge of making it a permanent arrangement this season with top competition Buster Skrine out with a broken thumb.

Skrine, who might need surgery, is expected back for the season opener, but the injury could cement his spot as a nickel back.

"I'm pumped up," Gilbert told the Akron Beacon Journal. "It's like a dream-come-true playing next to (Pro Bowl corner Joe Haden).

Gilbert missed the first preseason game with a groin issue.

Aaron Berry
News
Browns cornerback Aaron Berry will miss Monday's preseason game with a groin injury, ESPNCleveland.com reports. The Browns are enduring multiple injuries at the position and will be short on quality depth at cornerback in Monday's game.
Christian Kirksey
News
The Browns signed third-round pick Christian Kirksey, a linebacker out of Iowa, to a four-year deal. Kirksey made 315 tackles in his college career and is one of three players in Iowa history to score three defensive touchdowns.
Donte Whitner
News
The Browns' four-year contract with free agent safety Donte Whitner is worth $7 million annually, reports NFL Network. The 49ers did not want to go much higher than $4 million per year, according to CSNBayArea.com.
Donald Hawkins
News
The Browns claimed guards Karim Barton and Donald Hawkins off waivers Monday. Both players were let go by the Eagles.

Tank Carder

News
Quarterback Brandon Weeden (concussion) is the lone injured player on the inactive list released Sunday by the Browns.

The healthy scratches are offensive linemen Martin Wallace, Garrett Gilkey and Reid Fragel, wideout Josh Cooper, quarterback Alex Tanney and tight end Keavon Milton.

Barkevious Mingo
News
Mike Pettine spoke glowingly Saturday about Browns 2013 top pick Barkevious Mingo, who proved disappointing as a pass rusher as a rookie as his production diminished in time.

Pettine said "hopefully the switch has been flipped" in regard to Mingo. The coach added that Mingo has gained much-needed weight and is now in the upper 230s. Mingo will also be put to the test in pass coverage, at which he was not adept a year ago.

Injury
Hamstring - NFI. Questionable for start of regular season
Alex Mack
News
One of the reasons Johnny Manziel was such a spectacular player in college was because he was able to extend a play and throw to a big receiver down the field. Landing with the Browns is a total win for Johnny Football because he'll have Josh Gordon, Jordan Cameron, Greg Little and Nate Burleson as down-field targets along with Andrew Hawkins as a quick, short-area weapon. Ben Tate rumbling in the backfield doesn't hurt either.

Another impressive factor is the Browns O-line, which has two studs in left tackle Joe Thomas and center Alex Mack. If the line can improve from last season (we're looking at you, Mitchell Schwartz), then Manziel will have time to make good throws.

Of all the places he could have gone in the draft, Cleveland's the best fit. Not only should he inject life into the franchise but he should end up starting in Week 1 against the Steelers. Expect Manziel to get taken late in every single seasonal draft as a combo backup Fantasy QB/sleeper who could get some serious trade value. He'll get picked in the middle rounds in dynasty/keeper leagues and should be considered a Top 5 choice in rookie-only drafts.
Josh Aubrey
News
The Browns placed rookie defensive back Josh Aubrey on injured reserve Friday, after he sustained knee and ankle injuries during Thursday's practice.

The team also waived running back Bobby Rainey, and used the two open roster spots to promote wide receiver Tori Gurley and defensive back Julian Posey from the practice squad.

Ray Agnew
No Updates
Karim Barton
News
The Browns claimed guards Karim Barton and Donald Hawkins off waivers Monday. Both players were let go by the Eagles.
Joe Haden
News
Browns defensive back Joe Haden did not suit up for Saturday's preseason game against the Rams, due to a sore foot. He was able to practice throughout the week, and is day to day, with his absence considered a precaution.
Zac Diles
News
The Titans waived linebacker Zac Diles and safety Shann Schillinger.
Jim Leonhard
News
Former Bills safety Jim Leonhard tweeted that he signed with the Browns. Leonhard played for coach Mike Pettine last year in Buffalo, making 41 tackles and four interceptions.
Craig Robertson
News
The Browns injury report for Week 15 against the Bears featured six players from the defensive side of the ball, all of whom were expected to take the field Sunday.  As expected, all six are active prior to kickoff: linebackers Tank Carder (shoulder), D'Qwell Jackson (ankle), Paul Kruger (elbow) and Craig Robertson (knee); defensive lineman Ahtyba Rubin (calf); and defensive back T.J. Ward (shoulder).
Terrance West
News
Browns rookie running back Terrance West got only one first-half carry Monday night against the Redskins as Ben Tate dominated snaps with the first string. West finished with 31 yards on eight carries (3.9 yards per rush). He was not targeted in the passing game.
Jonathan Krause
News
The Browns cut defensive backs Royce Adams and T.J. Heath, offensive linemen Randall Harris, Ryan Lee and Jeremiah Warren, running back Edwin Baker, defensive lineman Cam Henderson, receivers Tim Smith, Jonathan Krause and Anthony Armstrong, linebackers Caleb McSurdy and Keith Pough, and tight end Martell Webb.
Injury
Jabaal Sheard
News
A nagging wrist injury will not prevent Browns outside linebacker Jabaal Sheard from playing Sunday when his team hosts the Ravens. He has been cleared to play after being listed as probable.
Mitchell Schwartz
Andrew Hawkins
News
Browns wide receiver Andrew Hawkins found the end zone Saturday night against the Rams in preseason action. Hawkins came down with a 5-yard touchdown pass from Brian Hoyer with 37 second remaining in the first half. He caught all five of his targets for a team-high 36 yards and a touchdown.
Gary Barnidge

Injury
Concussion - Questionable for Week 4 of preseason
Ahtyba Rubin
News
The Browns raised a few eyebrows earlier in the week by releasing popular veteran inside linebacker D'Qwell Jackson and could be readying to unload defensive lineman Ahtyba Rubin, per the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram.

Rubin, who has been less productive since the team switched to a 3-4 defense, is slated to earn $6.9 million in 2014. He is heading into the last season of a four-year contract.

Brian Hoyer
News
Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer had another uneven performance Saturday night against the Rams in preseason action.

Hoyer got the start and was intercepted by Alex Ogletree in the second quarter. He redeemed himself on his final drive of the night with 5-yard touchdown strike to Andrew Hawkins with 35 second remaining in the first half. He compiled 84 yards through the air while completing 10 of 16 passes. He added a touchdown, and interception and finished with a passer rating of 70.8.
