It's a blow to the team's pass defense, as Freeman is regarded as the defense's best coverage linebacker. In his absence, the start will go to Josh McNary, of whom Pagano said, "The guy can flat out run and cover," per Colts.com. Offensive lineman Joe Reitz has also been ruled out for Monday's game.

Colts coach Chuck Pagano said Monday wide receiver Reggie Wayne is ahead of schedule and the hope is he will return to the practice field this week. Wayne missed Sunday's loss against the Steelers due to an elbow injury. The Colts are set to play the Giants in Week 9.

Zach Kerr

T.Y. Hilton
News
After catching six passes for 155 yards and a touchdown Week 8 at Pittsburgh, Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton now ranks fifth among wide receivers in standard CBSSports.com leagues. Though his 223-yard performance Week 6 at Houston was what really put him on the map, he has now gone for more than 100 yards in four of his last five games, averaging 136.0 during that stretch.

Now, you could credit Reggie Wayne's absence for Hilton's performance in Week 8. The 35-year-old missed the game with an elbow injury. But more likely, rookie Donte Moncrief was the one to pick up his slack, catching seven passes for 113 yards and a touchdown.

Besides, it's not like Hilton wasn't producing prior to Week 8. He has become the go-to guy in what's suddenly the game's most prolific passing attack with quarterback Andrew Luck taking another step forward. All of those yards have to go somewhere, right?

In fact, Luck probably has fewer options than other prolific passers like Peyton Manning and Drew Brees, making Hilton a pretty safe bet to maintain this level of production. Because he doesn't get as many red-zone looks as some of the taller and stronger wide receivers in the game, he's hardly a lock for the top-five, but I'll bet he finishes in the top 10.

Andrew Jackson
News
The Colts signed linebacker Andrew Jackson off the team's practice squad Saturday, waiving linebacker Mario Harvey in a corresponding move.

Jackson was a sixth-round pick in this year's draft out of Western Kentucky. Harvey has recorded 22 tackles with the Colts over the last two-plus seasons, with none coming in 2014.

Victor Butler
News
Linebacker Darius Butler and defensive tackle Arthur Jones are the lone injured scratches for the Colts on Sunday. Both are dealing with ankle injuries.

The healthy scratches are linebacker Victor Butler, offensive linemen Jamon Meredith, Khaled Holmes and Lance Louis and defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles.

Jonotthan Harrison
News
The Colts declared these players inactive for Monday night's game against the Eagles: linebacker Jerrell Freeman (hamstring), centers Khaled Holmes (ankle) and Jonotthan Harrison, wideout Da'Rick Rogers, linebacker Chris Carter, guard Joe Reitz and running back Dion Lewis.
D'Qwell Jackson
News
The following players on the injury report were ruled active for the Colts in Week 5 at home against Baltimore: Reggie Wayne (not injury related), Erik Walden (not injury related), D'Qwell Jackson (not injury related), Ahmad Bradshaw (not injury related), Colt Anderson (groin), Jerrell Freeman (hamstring) and Andy Studebaker (hamstring).
Ricky Jean Francois
News
The Colts will have most of their injured players available Week 3 against the Jaguars.

T.Y. Hilton and Hakeem Nicks are both active for the contest. Nicks was the bigger question, as he entered the week deemed questionable. The team will also have Darius Butler, Ricky Jean Francois and Greg Toler

Mike Adams
News
Steelers right tackle Marcus Gilbert, who missed Sunday's win over the Colts with a concussion, is scheduled to practice Wednesday and play Week 9 against the Ravens, reports ESPN.com. Backup Mike Adams played well in Gilbert's absence but will return to the bench, coach Mike Tomlin confirmed.
Donte Moncrief
News
With Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne sidelined by an elbow injury, rookie Donte Moncrief saw more time on the field Week 8 at Pittsburgh. He saw so much time, in fact, that he led the team with 12 targets, catching seven passes for 113 yards and a touchdown.

I'd say it was his best Wayne impression, but it was in many ways even better than Wayne. Only once in seven games has Wayne gone for more than 119 yards this season, averaging 62.0 yards per game.

Of course, the flow of the game no doubt contributed to Moncrief's numbers. The Colts fell behind early, something they haven't done much this season, and quarterback Andrew Luck threw for a season-high 400 yards in an attempt to bring them back.

But Moncrief and T.Y. Hilton, who had 155 yards, got most of those 400. It's reason to believe that for however long Wayne is sidelined, Moncrief is going to play a big enough role to matter in Fantasy. He may not be Golden Tate or Mohamed Sanu as far as injury replacements go, but he's the next best thing.

Matt Hall
News
The Colts have pared down their roster to 53 on Saturday by cutting 17 players and making other moves.

The offensive players on the list are running back David Fluellen, quarterback Chandler Harnish, wide receivers Ryan Lankford and Josh Lenz, center FN Lutz, tight ends Weslye Saunders and Erik Swoope and guard Josh Walker.

The defensive players let go by Indianapolis are ends Gannon Conway and Tyler Hoover, linebackers Rob Ruggiero, Kelvin Sheppard, Phillip Hunt and Andrew Jackson, safety Dewey McDonald, tackles Brandon McKinney and Nnamdi Obukwelu and cornerback Sheldon Price.

The Colts waived/injured tackle Matt Hall and safety Delano Howell and placed linebacker Robert Mathis on the reserve/suspended list.

Injury
Jack Doyle
News
Colts tight end Jack Doyle is set to play Sunday in Pittsburgh despite a knee issue. He returned to full practice Friday, but was designated as questionable.
A.Q. Shipley
News
Colts coach Chuck Pagano said A.Q. Shipley will remain the starting center Sunday against the Titans, despite projected starter Khaled Holmes ready to return from an high ankle sprain he suffered in early August.

"I love the way they're coming together," Pagano said of the offensive line, per The Indianapolis Star. "Anytime you can have back-to-back games and move the ball the way we moved the ball. . . I think the chemistry and the continuity of that group, I think they're gaining confidence with every single snap and every single game. They're going to continue to get better."

Jonathan Newsome
News
The Colts signed outside linebacker Jonathan Newsome, a fifth-round pick out of Ball State. Newsome spent his first two seasons at Ohio State before transferring.
Zurlon Tipton
News
The Colts have waived running back Zurlon Tipton, Colts.com reports. Tipton was inactive in Week 1 and became expendable after the signing of Dion Lewis.
Andrew Luck
News
It's not often a quarterback throws for 400 yards and two touchdowns and is thoroughly outplayed. But such was the fate of Colts gunslinger Andrew Luck in Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Luck completed 26 of 45 passes for 400 yards and two scores - 122 yards and four touchdowns less than counterpart Ben Roethlisberger. Luck also tossed two interceptions and tripped over the feet of his center to land in the end zone for a critical safety early in the fourth quarter after he had cut the deficit to 42-34.

The Colts quarterback was stymied for most of the first quarter as the Steelers built up their lead. He hit tight end Dwayne Allen for a 21-yard touchdown pass early in the second and added a 31-yard scoring strike to Donte Moncrief late in the third.

Luck will hope for better luck next Monday night against the visiting Giants.

David Arkin
News
The Colts waived running back Dion Lewis and signed defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles off the Patriots' practice squad. Indianapolis also signed guard David Arkin to its practice squad while releasing guard Josh Walker from the squad.
Sergio Brown
News
Colts coach Chuck Pagano told ESPN.com that safety Sergio Brown will start Sunday in place of LaRon Landry, who was suspended four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances. Brown mainly has played on special teams. He has one tackle in three games played.
Josh Gordy
News
Cornerback Josh Gordy signed his one-year tender offer with the Colts on Monday, locking him in for the 2014 season. Gordy has 77 total tackles and four interceptions in 43 games.
Cory Redding
News
Colts defensive end Cory Redding stuffed the stat sheet as a chief contributor Sunday in a shutout of the Bengals.

Redding managed just four tackles, but two were for losses and included one of four Indianapolis sacks.

Hakeem Nicks
News
With Reggie Wayne ruled out with an elbow injury, Colts wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is expected to have an increased role on offense Sunday against Pittsburgh, according to ESPN. Nicks has gotten off to a slow start, with 17 catches for 141 yards and two touchdowns as the No. 3 receiver. He was targeted only once and was held without a grab in Week 7 against Cincinnati.

"I look forward to every opportunity," Nicks said. "Each week I prepare accordingly, prepare like I’m going to play, just like I’m going to play this week. Just have to go out there and play within the offense and everything will be good."
Chandler Jones
News
The Colts signed running back/return specialist Jeff Demps and tight end Konrad Reuland to the practice squad Tuesday, the team announced. The team released quarterback Dominique Davis and wide receiver Chandler Jones to make room for the new additions.
Lance Louis
News
Veteran wideout Reggie Wayne (elbow) is the lone injured inactive for the Colts on Sunday. Hakeem Nicks is set to start in his place.

The healthy scratches are cornerback Jalil Brown, offensive linemen Lance Louis and Khaled Holmes and defensive linemen Montori Hughes and Kelcy Quarles.

Stanley Havili
News

The absence of Trent Richardson due to injury set up Colts backfield mate Ahmad Bradshaw for a big game on the ground Sunday in Pittsburgh. But the team fell behind to stay early, giving Bradshaw few opportunities.

The terrific trio of Colts tight ends played a significant role Sunday in a blanking of Cincinnati.

Coby Fleener, Dwayne Allen and Jack Doyle combined for eight receptions for 136 yards. The lone score came courtesy of Allen, who gathered in a sideline pass five minutes into the third quarter and raced 32 yards into the end zone. He finished with three catches for 52 yards.

Fleener caught four passes for 64 yards while Doyle made the most of his one target for a 20-yard snag.

The threesome will try to wreak havoc on the Steelers in Week 8.

Coby Fleener
News
With how up-and-down many tight ends have been this season, identifying the right ones on waivers can be a key. In his Week 8 waiver-wire column, Jamey Eisenberg tries to pin down the best ones for you to target this week.

Ravens tight end Owen Daniels, coming off a six-catch performance with a touchdown in Week 7, is the top pick for the 41 percent of CBSSports.com leagues in which he is available. A big reason why is a matchup against the Bengals, who have allowed four double-digit Fantasy scoring games by tight ends this season.

The remainder of the top five for the week is rounded out by Coby Fleener of the Colts (44 percent owned), Charles Clay of the Dolphins (34 percent), Jared Cook of the Rams (47 percent) and Kyle Rudolph of the Vikings (32 percent), who makes more sense as a stash option if you can afford the roster space.
