News
Healthy scratches dominate the inactive list released Sunday by the Saints in Cleveland. The lone two injured players are safety Marcus Ball (hamstring) and fullback Erik Lorig (ankle).

The other inactives are wideouts Nick Toon and Joseph Morgan, cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste, guard Senio Kelemente and defensive end Glenn Foster.

Tight end Josh Hill caught an 8-yard pass, and tight end Benjamin Watson had a 3-yard grab. Wideout Robert Meachem was targeted three times without a catch.

Terron Armstead
News
The Saints have released their final injury report prior to Week 5.

Injury

News
Saints defensive lineman Cameron Jordan and defensive back Kenny Vaccaro, normally two of the more productive players on their defense, didn't do much Week 1 at Atlanta. Jordan had one solo tackle and Vaccaro had four.

Jordan was one of the league leaders in sacks last year with 12 1/2. Vaccaro had 79 tackles in only 14 games.

Travaris Cadet
News
With Pierre Thomas expected to miss a healthy chunk of time with a shoulder injury, Travaris Cadet is now the main receiving option out of the Saints backfield, and that should mean good things for the third-year man out of Appalachian State.

Cadet was already fifth on the team in targets through six games, and the absence of Thomas is only going to increase his workload. The two are averaging 8.3 targets out fo the backfield between them, and with Khiry Robinson and Mark Ingram more traditional backs, the majority of those looks should go Cadet's way.

Cadet has already shown he can be a useful receiver in a growing role recently, with 15 receptions for 129 yards and a touchdown over the last three games. The Saints have always featured running backs in the passing game prominently, and now it is Cadet's turn. In PPR leagues, he should make for a solid starting option moving forward, with 29 Fantasy points over the last three weeks already.

Tom Crabtree
News
The Saints waived tight end Tom Crabtree Saturday and signed inside linebacker Todd Davis to the active roster. Crabtree was signed earlier in October but did not make an appearance with the Saints.
A.J. Davis
News
The Saints signed linebacker Todd Davis, an undrafted free agent out of Sacramento State, and waived cornerback A.J. Davis, who spent last season on injured reserve.
Injury
Undisclosed - IR. Out for season
Jairus Byrd
News
Saints defensive tackle Brandon Deaderick, wide receiver Nick Toon, wide receiver Joe Morgan, linebacker Ronald Powell, running back Mark Ingram, fullback Erik Lorig and safety Jairus Byrd were all ruled inactive Week 5 vs. Tampa Bay.
Injury
Knee - IR. Out for the season
Tavon Rooks
News
The Saints have knocked their roster down to 53 by waiving a number of players Saturday.

Among the offense players let go are center Matt Armstrong, wide receivers Seantavius Jones , Brandon Coleman and Charles Hawkins, tight end Nic Jacobs, guards Jason Weaver and Marcel Jones, tackles Tavon Rooks and Thomas Welch and running backs Greg Jones and Derrick Strozier.

The defenders cut loose are cornerbacks Trevin Wade, Terrence Frederick and Derrius Brooks, linebackers Keyunta Dawson and Todd Davis, tackle Lawrence Virgil, safety Pierre Warren.

Placekickers Shayne Graham and Derek Dimke are also out.

Drew Brees
News
It hasn't quite been vintage Drew Brees, but the veteran's performance over the last handful of games for the Saints should be enough to alleviate Fantasy owners' concerns about his value.

Brees tossed two more touchdowns while racking up 342 yards through the air Sunday, en route to his fourth 20-plus point game in a row. Sure, in the past, 24 Fantasy points might have been a pretty ho-hum outing from Brees in a dome, but it is better than Fantasy owners' worst-case scenarios after he posted just 17 and 19 Fantasy points in the first two games of the season.

Brees has pretty clearly taken a step back this season, with 11 touchdowns to seven interceptions representing his worst ratio since 2010. Still, even a subpar Drew Brees is a starting Fantasy option, so don't let your disappointment in him cause you to overreact. Brees should be in your lineup for Week 8 against the Packers.

Parys Haralson
News
The Saints have agreed to a one-year deal with linebacker Parys Haralson Tuesday, the financial terms of which are not yet known.

Haralson appeared in all 16 games for the Saints after he was acquired in a preseason trade. He recorded 35 tackles -- 16 solo -- and 3.5 sacks in eight starts. He is an eight-year veteran.

Akiem Hicks
News
Saints defensive end Akiem Hicks is poised for a breakout season, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Hicks (6-5, 324) recorded 4.5 sacks and 56 tackles in his first full year as a starter.

"Akiem is a monster," fellow defensive end Cameron Jordan told the paper. "That dude is a monster."

Brandon Coleman

Josh Hill
News

Injury
Undisclosed - IR. Out for season
Austin Johnson

Terrence Frederick

Zach Strief
News
Saints right tackle Zach Strief on Monday will re-sign with the team for five years, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune. He became a starter in 2011 and is coming off perhaps his best season.

The deal averages $4.1 million annually, with Strief getting $8.5 million guaranteed.

Jonathan Goodwin
News
Saints starting center Jonathan Goodwin was carted off the field late in the first half at Detroit with a leg injury. He was ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Brodrick Bunkley
News
Saints defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley (concussion) and defensive end Glenn Foster (knee) were forced out of the game at Detroit in the second half. Both have been ruled out for the rest of the game.

News
The Saints have released their final injury report prior to Week 5.

Jairus Byrd and Erik Lorig have been ruled out for the contest. The team also made eight players probable. Terron Armstead, Marcus Ball, Jonathan Goodwin, David Hawthorne, Curtis Lofton, Patrick Robinson, Benjamin Watson and Corey White should all play.

Ryan Griffin
News
The Saints will sign quarterback Ryan Griffin to the team's practice squad after clearing waivers Wednesday, NOLA.com reports.

Griffin spent some of his rookie season last year on the practice squad before eventually moving to the active roster. He lost a camp battle to Luke McCown during the preseason and didn't survive final roster cuts.

Khiry Robinson
News
Saints running back Khiry Robinson was held out of Wednesday's practice due to a forearm injury. Robinson left after playing five snaps Week 7 at Detroit, but said he'll be fine for Sunday night's game against the Packers.

"I have a little boo-boo, but I'm straight," he said, per The New Orleans Advocate.

Injury
Forearm - Did not practice. Questionable for Week 8 vs. Green Bay
Tyrunn Walker
News
Saints running back Pierre Thomas (chest) is the lone injured player on the inactive report for the Saturday playoff battle in Seattle.

The healthy scratches are quarterback Ryan Griffin, corernback Terrence Frederick, linebacker Rufus Johnson, safety Jordan Pugh, defensive end Tyrunn Walker and wide receiver Nick Toon.

Rafael Bush
News
The Saints matched the Falcons' offer sheet for restricted free agent safety Rafael Bush, so he'll stay with New Orleans on a two-year, $4.5 million deal, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Mark Ingram
News
Saints running back Mark Ingram returned from his broken hand Week 7 but was ineffective against the Lions. He rushed 10 times for 16 yards (1.6 ypc) and caught two of three targets for 13 yards.

Ingram plays the Packers in Week 8.

Marcus Ball

Robert Meachem
News
The Saints received several offensive contributions in their Week 7 loss at Detroit. Among them, rookie wideout Brandin Cooks caught two of his three targets for 23 yards. Fullback Austin Johnson made a 13-yard touchdown grab and added a 5-yard rush.

Tight end Josh Hill caught an 8-yard pass, and tight end Benjamin Watson had a 3-yard grab. Wideout Robert Meachem was targeted three times without a catch.

Seantavius Jones

Orson Charles
News
The Saints signed tight end Orson Charles to the practice squad Tuesday, NOLA.com reports. Charles was a fourth-round draft pick by the Bengals in 2012.

Stanley Jean-Baptiste
News
As expected, running back Mark Ingram (hand) is on the inactive list issued by the Saints for their Week 3 game against Minnesota. Also out with injuries are safety Marcus Ball (hamstring), fullback Erik Lorig (ankle) and linebacker David Hawthorne (ankle).

The healthy scratches are cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste, nose tackle John Jenkins and wide receiver Nick Toon.

Corey White

Jimmy Graham
News
Saints tight end Jimmy Graham was limited in Wednesday's practice ahead of Sunday's game against the Packers. Graham, who's nursing a shoulder injury, played 30 snaps in the Week 7 loss at Detroit. He was targeted twice without making a catch.
Injury
Shoulder - Limited practice. Questionable for Week 8 vs. Green Bay
Kenny Vaccaro

Eric Olsen

Patrick Robinson
News

Injury
Hamstring - Full practice. Probable for Week 8 vs. Green Bay
DeMarcus Love
News
The Giants claimed center/guard Mark Asper off waivers from the Bills and waived offensive tackle DeMarcus Love.
Luke McCown
News
Saints backup quarterback Luke McCown got the start in Friday's preseason game against the Titans, and did a good job piloting the offense in a 31-24 win.

McCown led the offense through the first half compiling 117 yards through the air while completing 12 of 20 passes successfully. He tossed  a pair of touchdowns to Jimmy Graham as well.

McCown is expected to open the season as the Saints' No. 2 quarterback.

Vinnie Sunseri
News
With pick No. 167 in the NFL Draft, the Saints selected safety Vinnie Sunseri from Alabama.

Sunseri is coming off a torn ACL from last October, so his status for training camp is questionable. He will likely be given time to heal, since the Saints don't need him right away.

When healthy, the Saints can use Sunseri on special teams since they are entrenched at safety with Kenny Vaccaro and Jairus Byrd.

Brandon Deaderick
News
The Saints declared defensive back Patrick Robinson (hamstring), wideouts Joe Morgan and Nick Toon, linebackers Ramon Humber (ankle) and Kyle Knox (ankle), fullback Erik Lorig (ankle) and nose tackle Brandon Deaderick inactive for the game at Detroit.
Kenny Stills
News
Saints receiver Kenny Stills made a big impact in Week 7 against the Lions, but that doesn't mean Fantasy owners should be looking to rely on the deep threat moving forward.

Stills racked up a season-high 103 yards through the air, with a huge chunk coming on his 46-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Still, he was targeted just five times in the game and has made little impact this season outside of a few big plays.

Stills was just third on the team in targets Sunday, which is actually an improvement on his role earlier in the season, as he was fifth on the team entering the game. Though he'll go off for the occasional long touchdown, Stills simply cannot be relied on in most Fantasy formats on a weekly basis.

Bryce Harris
News
The Saints re-signed tackle Bryce Harris to a one-year deal for the 2014 season Saturday, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Harris will made $570,000, an increase of $70,000 from last year, when he appeared in all 16 games, including one start.
Junior Galette
News
Linebackers Curtis Lofton and Junior Galette teamed up to help shut down Minnesota on Sunday for the Saints.

Lofton led the way with eight tackles, including seven solos, and Galette added seven tackles. Both contributed two TFLs while the latter recorded two quarterback hits.

John Jenkins
News
The Saints declared these players inactive for Sunday night's game at Dallas: running back Mark Ingram (hand), safety Marcus Ball (hamstring), wideout Joe Morgan, defensive back Patrick Robinson (hamstring), fullback Erik Lorig (ankle), linebacker David Hawthorne (ankle, knee) and nose tackle John Jenkins.
Thomas Morstead
No Updates
Nick Toon
News
The Saints declared defensive back Patrick Robinson (hamstring), wideouts Joe Morgan and Nick Toon, linebackers Ramon Humber (ankle) and Kyle Knox (ankle), fullback Erik Lorig (ankle) and nose tackle Brandon Deaderick inactive for the game at Detroit.
Curtis Lofton

News

Heath, offensive linemen Randall Harris, Ryan Lee and Jeremiah Warren, running back Edwin Baker, defensive lineman Cam Henderson, receivers Tim Smith, Jonathan Krause and Anthony Armstrong, linebackers Caleb McSurdy and Keith Pough, and tight end Martell Webb.
Joe Morgan
News
The Saints declared defensive back Patrick Robinson (hamstring), wideouts Joe Morgan and Nick Toon, linebackers Ramon Humber (ankle) and Kyle Knox (ankle), fullback Erik Lorig (ankle) and nose tackle Brandon Deaderick inactive for the game at Detroit.
Lawrence Virgil

Andy Tanner
News
Saints wide receiver Andy Tanner, safety Ty Zimmerman and tackle Ty Nsekhe cleared waivers Tuesday and have been placed on injured reserve, the New Orleans Advocate reports.
Injury
Ankle - IR. Out for season
Marques Colston
News
The Saints offense is so productive that it turns out role matters more for wide receiver Marques Colston than matchup. With what seemed like a tough matchup Week 7 at Detroit, he had a season-high 111 yards on six catches after averaging just 46.0 yards in his previous three games. But, of course, he was helping pick up star tight end Jimmy Graham's slack. Graham was active but hardly a factor because of a shoulder injury.

If nothing else, Colston proved with his performance that he's still capable of being a top flight wide receiver when quarterback Drew Brees needs him to be. While Graham's role for Week 8 against Green Bay is to be determined, chances are the Saints are going to have to throw a lot against a Packers team that has hit its stride offensively, averaging 36.3 points over its last four games.

As matchups go, it's not an especially favorable one. The Packers rank sixth against the pass, giving up 214.9 yards per game, and have allowed the lowest passer rating of any team this season. But again, the Saints offense has a way of transcending matchups.

Both Jamey Eisenberg and Dave Richard rank Colston among their top 20 wide receivers for this week, and I agree most Fantasy owners will want to stick with him.
