Rashad Jennings
News
Running back Rashad Jennings believes the Giants have the tools to be one of the NFL's premier offenses in 2015.

Citing the arrival of Shane Vereen, return of Victor Cruz and emergence of Odell Beckham, Jennings, via the New York Daily News, said he's optimistic that the offense will cause plenty of problems this season.

"I think we're going to have a dominant offense," Jennings said. "Eli [Manning] is really comfortable in the offense now — being able to control a lot from the line of scrimmage."

The Giants started slow offensively a year ago but caught fire down the stretch when Manning and Beckham began hooking up for big plays. The Giants scored 24 or more points in their final six games of the 2014 season.

Andre Williams
News
Despite their reported agreement with free agent running back Shane Vereen, the Giants are expected to retain running back Rashad Jennings in a crowded backfield with second-year bruiser Andre Williams, reports The Star-Ledger.

Jennings averaged 17.9 touches in the 11 games he played last season, averaging 3.8 yards per carry and rushing for four touchdowns while catching 30 passes for 226 yards. Williams ran for seven scores while averaging 3.3 yards per carry.

It's unclear how the Giants will divide up backfield work. Cutting Jennings after June 1 would save the team $2.25 million against the cap.

The Bengals also cut the following offensive players: tackles Dan France and Will Svitek, wide receivers Colin Lockett and Cobi Hamilton, center Trevor Robinson and running backs James Wilder and Nikita Whitlock.

Defenders waived by the Bengals include safety Danieal Manning, cornerbacks Onterio McCalebb and Victor Hampton, tackles Devon Still and David King and ends Sam Montgomery and Dontay Moch.

Cornerback Chris Lewis-Harris will begin serving a two-game drug suspension handed dowsn by the league.

News
The Giants declared linebacker Devon Kennard (toe), wideout Corey Washington, cornerback Jayron Hosley, offensive linemen Adam Gettis and Eric Herman, defensive tackle Dominique Hamilton and tight end Jerome Cunningham inactive for Sunday's game against the Eagles.
Victor Cruz
News
Although Giants head coach Tom Coughlin is hopeful that wide receiver Victor Cruz will be ready by training camp, the team will not rush him back, reports ESPN.

"I shouldn't say this, because medically I really don't have a definite answer, but by training camp hopefully, even if it's just to bring him," Coughlin said. "We're not going to just throw him to the wind. He'll work his way through. But I hope that would be the target."

Cruz tore his patellar tendon in week six of the 2014 season, causing him to miss the rest of the year. Coughlin is hopeful that he'll return to be the player that he was before the injury.

"I think he'll be the player that he was, and hopefully better," Coughlin said of Cruz. "But as far as when, I would be careful of what I would say there. Hopefully it's the first game. But if it isn't, you know we've done that one before. We just went through it. But I'm hoping it would be."

The former undrafted free agent has tallied 264 receptions for 3,963 yards and 24 touchdowns.

John Jerry
News
The Giants have re-signed guard John Jerry to a two-year deal that will pay him $3.3 million with $1 million guaranteed, NJ.com reports.

Jerry started all 16 games at right guard last season but rated 66th out of 78 players in Pro Football Focus' ratings of the league's guards. With the Giants signing tackle Marshall Newhouse this offseason, it's possible Justin Pugh is moved inside, bumping Jerry to a reserve role.

Odell Beckham
News
Giants general manager Jerry Reese is a bit skeptical that wide receiver Odell Beckham played the end of the season with two torn hamstrings.

"I don’t know about that. I think he was trying to be a hero," Reese said according to the New York Post. "I don’t think you can run fast like that with two torn hamstrings."

Beckham, who won Rookie of the Year and played in the Pro Bowl wouldn't have let him play if the injury was true.

"I don’t think so," Reese said. "I think our doctors would have caught that. According to our doctors, it was healed up. He may have gotten fatigued later in the season. But I don’t think you can go out and run like that if you’ve got a couple torn hamstrings."

Beckham missed the first four games of the season with a hamstring injury, but finished the year with 1,305 receiving yards on 91 catches with 12 touchdowns.

A rotational player in the Jets' 3-4 front, Ellis is expected to fit as a first-down and second-down run-stopper for the Giants.
Jerome Cunningham
News

Jason Pierre-Paul
News
The Giants have placed the franchise tag on defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, NFL.com reports.

The team was set to tag Pierre-Paul if a long-term deal could not be reached, per a report in February, and he still remains unsigned as Monday's deadline for tagging players approaches. If the two sides cannot work out a long-term deal, the defensive end would receive $14.813 million to play in 2015.

Pierre-Paul racked up 12 1/2 sacks in a rebound season in 2014.

Jayron Hosley
News
The Giants declared linebacker Devon Kennard (toe), wideout Corey Washington, cornerback Jayron Hosley, offensive linemen Adam Gettis and Eric Herman, defensive tackle Dominique Hamilton and tight end Jerome Cunningham inactive for Sunday's game against the Eagles.
Adrien Robinson
News
Giants wide receiver Rueben Randle caught all three of his targets for 36 yards in his team's 31-28 loss to the Cowboys in Week 12.

Eli Manning was locked in on rookie Odell Beckham (10 catches, 146 yards, two TDs) and running back Rashad Jennings (eight catches, 68 yards), and Randle was one of the quarterback's six other targeted receivers to split 11 catches. Tight end Daniel Fells also secured three receptions for 35 yards, while tight end Larry Donnell managed just two receptions for 24 yards. Wide receiver Preston Parker caught one of his three targets for 16 yards, while tight end Adrien Robinson caught his only target for a one-yard touchdown.

Randle, Parker and the team's TE corps should continue to play a complementary role behind Beckham moving forward. The Giants will take on the Jaguars in Week 13.

Johnathan Hankins
News
Giants defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins is poised for a breakout season in his second year, according to the team's website. With Linval Joseph's departure, Hankins will play a lot more and "provide upper-echelon play at defensive tackle down in and down out," the website said.

A second-round pick out of Ohio State, Hankins played in 11 games last year, making 16 tackles.

Jon Beason
News
Linebacker Jon Beason has renegotiated his contract with the Giants, according to NJ.com.

Beason was scheduled to receive a $1 million roster bonus on Tuesday. Due to the renegotiation of his contract, his base salary has been reduced from $5.825 million to $3.7 million.

The 30-year-old linebacker has played four games or less in three of the past four years due to injuries.

His 2014 season was ended due to foot and toe injuries after only four games.

Eli Manning
News
Giants quarterback Eli Manning is entering the second year in offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo's system. Manning is ready to take the next step now that he is familiar with the system, reports the NY Daily News.

““This year will be a much easier transition, knowing that we have been through so much of it already,” said Manning, who recently had been working out at Ole Miss with some of their receivers and alumni. “It’s definitely a different starting point. I feel good about it. I feel that I have a good understanding of it.

“But there is still room to grow and that is why I try to keep it as fresh in my mind as possible. Looking at old game-plan sheets and calling plays in my head – throwing routes with receivers trying to call out plays to myself, so you don’t let it slip away. It was new last year and it wasn’t something I have been doing for 10 years, so you want to keep it fresh and go through your reminders and all your checks. So when we come back I haven’t taken a step backwards and have to re-learn things. It is still all there. There will be new stuff and we will be taking it to another level.”

Manning has started all 16 games in each season since 2005, throwing for 39,755 yards with 259 touchdowns and 185 interceptions.

Shane Vereen
News
Giants running back Shane Vereen is being viewed as much more than just a third-down running back, according to nj.com.

The team is excited about his ability to catch passes out of the backfield, but he'll be relied on to do more than that.

"I see him in that regard as a pass receiver coming out of the backfield, a pass protector, a guy who runs the ball in the three-wide offense in the run game, if you will, which is very prevalent today in our sport," coach Tom Coughlin said at the NFL Annual Meetings this week. "So I see him in that regard."

Last season the Giants did not have one receiving touchdown by a running back. Vereen, formerly of the Patriots, had three receiving touchdowns out of the backfield last year.

"Well, you know what [Vereen] can do. Quite frankly, it's something from an attack standpoint we've had some success with, but not to the extent that he has," Coughlin said. "When you look at Vereen, a lot of the [Tom] Brady hookup with Vereen was the ball was almost automatically going to him. First down, if it was zone coverage, they were dropping the ball down and he would scoot. So we know that. Will we open it up to more parts of it?"

The 26-year-old has 907 yards rushing and seven touchdowns on the ground, adding 107 receptions for 1,023 yards and seven touchdowns through the air in four years.
