Victor Cruz
News
Giants general manager Jerry Reese told reporters that the team can't rely on wideout Victor Cruz being fully recovered in time for the 2015 season. Reese noted that doing so wouldn't be responsible for the front office, and that as a result, they'll look to improve at the position this offseason, according to ESPN.

"When a guy has a big injury like Victor had, you can't put all your eggs in his basket," Reese said. "Our doctors say he looks good. I see him down in the training room, working out with our trainers and our medical people, and he looks good. But his game is quickness. And until you get out there and move around, you never really know how he's going to recovery from that. We're hoping and praying that he'll come back 100 percent and be the Victor Cruz that we know, but you can't put 100 percent in that basket."

Cruz tore his patella tendon in October against the Eagles. He was limited to 23 catches for 337 and one touchdown in six games in 2014. Coach Tom Coughlin told reporters that Cruz should start running soon, and that he remains "where he needs to be" in his recovery process.

News
Giants general manager Jerry Reese is a bit skeptical that wide receiver Odell Beckham played the end of the season with two torn hamstrings.

"I don’t know about that. I think he was trying to be a hero," Reese said according to the New York Post. "I don’t think you can run fast like that with two torn hamstrings."

Beckham, who won Rookie of the Year and played in the Pro Bowl wouldn't have let him play if the injury was true.

"I don’t think so," Reese said. "I think our doctors would have caught that. According to our doctors, it was healed up. He may have gotten fatigued later in the season. But I don’t think you can go out and run like that if you’ve got a couple torn hamstrings."

Beckham missed the first four games of the season with a hamstring injury, but finished the year with 1,305 receiving yards on 91 catches with 12 touchdowns.

Wide receiver Preston Parker caught one of his three targets for 16 yards, while tight end Adrien Robinson caught his only target for a one-yard touchdown.

Eli Manning
News
Giants owner John Mara confirmed coach Tom Coughlin will return for the 2015 season but made clear he won't accept a fourth straight non-playoff season. Asked if 2015 was a win-or-else proposition for many in the organization, Mara replied: "I don't think that's an unfair statement."

When the Giants lost their seventh straight, 25-24 at Jacksonville, Mara said he sat on the bus after the game and "wanted to fire everyboyd."

But Mara said the players kept playing hard for Coughlin, as evidenced by the team's 3-1 finish. Mara will continue to let Coughlin make decisions about the coaching staff.

"Tom is a Super Bowl-winning, potential Hall of Fame coach," Mara said.

Coughlin's contract has one year left. Mara said his normal policy is to not let coaches work as lame ducks, but added, "That's not set in stone."

Coughlin said he never considered the possibility of not coming back and that he's overseeing a "massive evaluation process" of the entire team. Coughlin defended defensive coordinator Perry Fewell, saying he "had his hands full, no doubt about it."

Mara called quarterback Eli Manning's body of work in 2015 "pretty good" and said he wants Manning to retire as a Giant. Manning, who turns 34 on Saturday, has one year left on his deal at $17 million.

Antrel Rolle
News
Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Thursday that the team would like to retain free-agent safety Antrel Rolle depending on his asking price, NJ.com reports.

"We'd like him to come back," Coughlin said, adding, "obviously we do have financial restrictions involved."

Rolle struggled last season in the final year of his five-year deal after being named to the Pro Bowl in 2013, but Coughlin indicated that the safety brings more value that just his work on the field.

"He's an outstanding young man and really I've never come across a player that was more interested in his team and trying to help his team be better in any way they could," Coughlin said. "I think countless Tuesday's Antrel was in my office with, 'How can we get better? What can we do to get better?' Just thoughts going back and forth between coach/player, in terms of how our team could improve. I don't think I was ever involved with a player that was more sincerely interested in how his team could improve. And I admire that very much in him as a young man and a leader."

The team will likely prioritize the safety position this offseason, with Rolle joining veterans Stevie Brown and Quintin Demps as free agents.

Damontre Moore
News
Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Wednesday giving defensive end Damontre Moore more playing time could be an option to help a lackluster pass rush, according to NJ.com.

"Young Damontre, everybody wants him in the ball game, he did have some success the other day with one sack," Coughlin said. "He should have been playing a little bit more (Week 12 vs. Dallas)."

Despite Moore showing at times he could help the pass rush, he has spent a lot of time on the bench this season.

"Because there are times, to be honest with you, during the week when you talk about confidence level, whether it's assignment football or whatever, for whatever reason, it hasn't been something that we thought [Moore] knows exactly what he's doing and so on and so forth," Coughlin said. "The practices have to fulfill the idea that we can go ahead and play him under all kinds of circumstances is what we'd like to do, not just on third down."
