Josh Brown
News
The Jets have signed veteran kicker Josh Brown, bringing in an experienced leg to compete with incumbent Nick Folk for the starting job. The 33-year-old Brown was released by the Rams last weekend after St. Louis drafted his potential replacement, Greg Zuerlein of Missouri Western, in the sixth round Saturday. Brown is a career 81 percent kicker but was 21 for 28 on field goals last season. Speaking at a charity event Tuesday night, coach Rex Ryan says Brown gives the team "two excellent kickers" and it will be "a great competition" between him and Folk this summer.

News
The Jets officially placed LB Bryan Thomas on season-ending injured reserve on Saturday. Thomas tore his left Achilles' tendon in the club's 34-17 loss at Baltimore last Sunday. The team singed LB Eddie Jones off the practice squad to take his place on the 53-man roster.
Stephen Hill
News
The New York Post reports that Jets receivers coach Sanjay Lal likes what he sees from rookie receiver Stephen Hill, who could be the team’s second receiver behind Santonio Holmes. His biggest hurdle is adjusting to the NFL after playing in a triple-option offense at Georgia Tech. “I think physically he’ll be OK,” Lal said. “Because he’s a blank slate physically he doesn’t have a lot of bad habits. Mentally is where the challenges will come. He’ll see looks and coverages that he might not have seen before. So, the mental side of the game is where his challenges will come.”
Tracy Wilson
News
The Jets promoted DB Tracy Wilson from their practice squad on Tuesday in an attempt to assist the struggling secondary entering Week 13. He has played on New York's practice squad the entire season.
Quinton Coples
News
Jets coach Rex Ryan told North Carolina defensive end Quinton Coples last week that the team would draft him if he were still available at No. 16 overall. Coples can repay him and the Jets by being the dominant pass rusher they think he'll be. Coples tied for third in Tar Heels history with 24 sacks, including 17 1/2 in his last two years, despite having four position coaches and two head coaches during his college career. Ryan said Coples reminds him of former Jets Shaun Ellis and Trevor Pryce, terrific pass rushers who could play all along the defensive line. "He's very athletic for an inside pass rusher," Ryan said.
Demario Davis
News
North Carolina defensive end Quinton Coples was the Jets' first draft pick, but he wasn't their only defensive draft pick. The team also picked up Arkansas State linebacker Demario Davis, Wake Forest safety Josh Bush and South Carolina safety Antonio Allen.

Joe McKnight
News
Jets running back Joe McKnight told the New York Daily News he put on 16 pounds this offseason. How did he do it? By eating McDonald's. "I was eating healthy, but the majority of time I was eating bad," he said. "I wasn't eating all the right stuff ... like Tim Tebow."
Santonio Holmes
News
The New York Post reports that new Jets receivers coach Sanjay Lal has been impressed with Santonio Holmes so far this offseason. Lal said Holmes has been, “very eager, very football-hungry, very competitive.” And Lal is not the only one who has noticed Holmes’ contributions on the practice field. “He’s been great,” said tackle Wayne Hunter. “Santonio has been great. He’s been doing extra stuff that people wouldn’t believe. He’s been doing extra with Mark. He’s been doing stuff that he hasn’t done in the past. He’s been a team player, and it’s been a good change.”
Mike DeVito
News
Jets DL Mike DeVito missed Week 13 against Washington with an MCL injury of his left knee, sustained during Week 12 against the Bills.
Kenrick Ellis
News
Jets LB David Harris and DL Kenrick Ellis both suffered ankle sprains in Week 7 against San Diego, but are not expected to miss playing time. New York coach Rex Ryan said they are regular ankle sprains, not high ankle sprains, which means they should recover fairly quickly.
Chaz Schilens
News
The Jets announced they have agreed in principle on a contract with receiver Chaz Schilens, who spent the first four years of his career with the Raiders. Playing in 44 games over that time, Schilens has totaled seven touchdowns and 902 yards on 72 catches.
Bart Scott
News
The New York Daily News reports that the Jets have given linebacker Bart Scott permission to seek a trade. Scott's playing time decreased last season and his salary is guaranteed in 2012, so cutting him isn't something the Jets are willing to do. The paper speculates that the Giants might be interested in acquiring Scott.
Bryan Thomas

Shonn Greene
News
The Newark Star-Ledger reports that Jets running back Shonn Greene said Tuesday he is excited for new offensive coordinator Tony Sparano's system and the Jets plan to get back to ground-and-pound. "I'm looking forward to it a lot," Greene said. "Seeing how Miami did things (under Sparano), running the ball a lot -- obviously I'm a running back, that’s a good thing. Just looking for a brand new fresh start and some new things." Last year, the Jets veered from their run-first approach early on, only to make a shift a few weeks into the season. Greene got off to a slow start but built steam through the year toward his first 1,000-yard season. Asked if there's anything he can do to get off to a faster start, he said simply, "Get the ball. Just get the ball."
Antonio Cromartie
News

News
Jets RB Bilal Powell saw the first action of the season in Week 11 against the Broncos. When he has been on the field, Landry has been an impact defender. Landry played only eight games in 2011 and a total of 17 games since the start of the 2010 season. "After spending time with the organization as a whole, I just felt that signing with the Jets was the right thing to do," said Landry according to The Sports Xchange. "When you factor in that Rex (Ryan) coached my brother and the family-oriented demeanor, it just felt like home," he said. "It made the decision real easy for me. Mark Sanchez
News
The New York Daily News reports that Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez struggled with decision making in 2011, according to quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh. Sanchez had 26 touchdown passes and 26 turnovers, and Cavanaugh hopes he can become more of an effective game manager in Tony Sparano’s new offensive system. “There were turnovers that were not his fault that were credited to him,” Cavanaugh said. “But there were enough that playing that position he needs to cut some of those down. Most of them came from just poor decision-making. So I spent a lot of time with him talking about ‘Let’s get focused on managing the game.' Taking the big plays when they’re there (and) understanding that ... even though it’s drawn up to be a touchdown, not every play has to be a touchdown. Not every play has to be a completion. Sometimes throwing it away is a good thing. Sometimes taking a sack is better than throwing an interception.”
