Geno Smith
News
Jets quarterback Geno Smith completed just 16 of his 32 pass attempts for 176 yards while throwing a touchdown and an interception in his team's 31-24 loss to the Packers in Week 2.

Smith also added 26 yards on seven carries and took it into the end zone himself on a bootleg from the one-yard line on the team's first drive after an Aaron Rodgers fumble created a short field. He then hit Eric Decker with a nice pass on a 29-yard touchdown to put the Jets up 14-0. After the Jets capped a 17-play drive with a Chris Ivory touchdown run early in the second quarter, Smith had trouble keeping the offense moving, and the Jets were outscored 28-3 from that point on.

Despite the two total touchdowns, it was a step back for Smith after he completed 82 percent of his passes in a Week 1 win over the Raiders. He'll look to get back on track when he faces the Bears at home on Monday night in Week 3.

Sheldon Richardson
News
The awards for the 2013 NFL season were announced Saturday, and Packers running back Eddie Lacy and Jets defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson won rookie of the year honors for offense and defense, respectively.

Lacy, the 61st overall pick out of Alabama, had 284 carries for 1,178 yards (4.1 yards per carry), with 11 touchdowns in his first year in the league. Richardson, a first-round pick out of Missouri, registered 77 tackles and 3.5 sacks while starting all 16 games this season for the Jets.
Darrin Walls
News
The "feeling right now" is that Jets cornerback Dee Milliner (high ankle sprain) won't play Week 1 against the Raiders, reports the New York Daily News. New York would be forced to start Darrin Walls and Antonio Allen at corner, with Kyle Wilson manning the slot, the report said.
Matt Simms
News
The Jets have cut their roster down to 53 by waiving a number of players.

Those on offense are quarterback Tajh Boyd and Matt Simms, wide receivers Clyde Gates and Stephen Hill, running backs Daryl Richardson and Alex Green, tight end Chris Pantale, linemen Brent Qvale and Caleb Schlauderaff.

The defenders imclude defensive backs Rontez Miles, Jeremy Reeves, Johnny Patrick, Dimitri Patterson and Brandon Dixon, linemen Zach Thompson, Kerry Hyder and Tevita Finau and linebackers Garrett McIntyre and A.J. Edds.

Linebacker Antwan Barnes has been placed on the PUP list.

News

News

Demario Davis
News
Jets linebacker Demario Davis had six total tackles and two sacks in his team's 31-24 loss against the Packers in Week 2.

Signed midseason last year, Sudfeld said "it's interesting how much difference it makes knowing the playbook a little bit. Last year, coming out here a little bit, it was kind of learning on the fly. I just try to take advantage of the reps I get.

"I do think that I have some ability to maybe stretch the field a little bit and kind of get out and run," he added. "I love playing in the West Coast [scheme]. It's a great offense for a tight end."

Antonio Allen
News
Jets defensive back Antonio Allen (concussion) and linebacker Nick Bellore (calf), who were listed as probable on Friday's injury report, are both active for Week 1 against the Raiders.
David Nelson
News
Jets receiver David Nelson has the chance to be the starter opposite Eric Decker, reports the New York Post.

Nelson, who came to the Jets four weeks into last season after they were hit with injuries, finished 2013 with 36 catches (second on the team) for 423 yards and two touchdowns.

This year, Nelson "appears to be the favorite" for the No. 2 job judging from OTA and minicamp snaps, per the report.

The starting job is not guaranteed for Nelson. He is battling Stephen Hill and draft picks Jalen Saunders, Shaq Evans and Quincy Enunwa. But Nelson has seniority on those receivers, which could give him an edge.

Eric Decker
News
Jets wide receiver Eric Decker is set to undergo a battery of tests Monday to determine the exact extent of the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 2 against the Packers  Sunday.

Decker was forced leave the game in the fourth quarter as a result of the injury, an aggravation of the issue that limited him during training camp. According to ESPN.com, the injury is a more severe version of the one he dealt with at camp, though more about his status moving forward will be known later on Monday.

Undisclosed - IR. Out for season
Bilal Powell
News
They say if you have two quarterbacks vying for the starting spot, you actually have no starting quarterback. The same might be said about featured backs.

At least those seeking that title with the Jets. Though newly acquired Chris Johnson is coming off a sixth consecutive 1,000-yard season with Tennessee, but his 3.9 YPC average in 2013 was the worst of his career. Chris Ivory followed strong performances with weak ones throughout last season and Bilal Powell also proved inconsistent.

The trio combined to rush for 223 yards on 43 carries for a 5.2 average in the preseason, which prompted Rex Ryan to declare that the three will alternate in the regular season. Though Johnson is the most likely to emerge as the featured back, it seems clear that all will receive enough opportunities in the season opener Sunday against an improved Oakland defense to make none of them more than a second option in shallower leagues and flex in deeper ones.

Fantasy owners should monitor their reps to determine if any of them emerge as a featured back.

Calvin Pryor
News
Speaking with the Green Bay media Wednesday, Jets coach Rex Ryan explained why New York drafted Calvin Pryor over Ha Ha Clinton-Dix in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft. The Packers selected Clinton-Dix, who was widely considered the top safety in the draft, three picks after Pryor was selected.

"Both guys were excellent players," Ryan said, per ESPN. "We would have been happy with either guy. But I took the guy who will knock your face in."

Jaiquawn Jarrett
News
Jets linebacker Quinton Coples (ankle), defensive back Antonio Cromartie (hip, knee), defensive lineman Kenrick Ellis (back), defensive back Jaiquawn Jarrett (knee), defensive back Dee Milliner (hamstring), wide receiver David Nelson (hamstring), defensive back Darrin Walls (shoulder) and defensive back Kyle Wilson (concussion) are active for Week 7 against the Patriots. They were all listed as probable on Friday's injury report.
Tanner Purdum
No Updates
Shaq Evans
News
Jets rookie receiver Shaq Evans, a fourth-round pick out of UCLA, will have shoulder surgery Tuesday and be placed on injured reserve, reports ESPN.com.
Injury
Shoulder - IR. Out for season.
Calvin Pace
News
The Jets re-signed 33-year-old outside linebacker Calvin Pace to a two-year, $5 million deal, reports Pro Football Talk. He had 10 sacks, two forced fumbles and 53 tackles while playing every game last season.
A.J. Edds
News
The Jets have announced that the following players are inactive for Week 2's matchup with the Packers: defensive tackle T.J. Barnes, defensive back Josh Bush, linebackers A.J. Edds and IK Enemkpali, offensive tackle Ben Ijalana, guard Dakota Dozier and wide receiver Walt Powell.

Bush was questionable to play with a quad injury, while Edds had already been ruled out with a hamstring issue. Enemkpali was probable in the injury report with a foot injury but will not play.

Injury
Hamstring - Missed Week 2 at Green Bay
David Harris
News
Though defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson led the Jets in tackles with nine Week 12 at Baltimore, linebackers David Harris and DeMario Davis weren't far off. Both had eight tackles, including five solo.

Both players are prolific tacklers. Harris is averaging 7.7 in 11 games. Davis is averaging 7.1.

D'Brickashaw Ferguson
News
Jets left tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson did not look like himself last year, allowing eight sacks and 51 quarterback hurries, according to the New York Post. The paper expects Ferguson, 30, who has never missed a snap in the NFL, to bounce back.

Ferguson has the highest salary cap figure on the team at $11.7 million.

Rontez Miles

Jeremy Kerley
News
Eric Decker will enter the season as the Jets' top receiver, but who is No. 2? The team did not draft a high-profile wideout. Jeremy Kerley is better in the slot and Stephen Hill can't be counted on, according to ESPN.com.

That leaves the Jets hoping one or more of the receivers they drafted will develop fast. Fourth-rounder Jalen Saunders is "small and shifty," and fellow fourth-rounder Shaq Evans "had five touchdown catches of 54-plus yards in his career," the website notes. Sixth-rounder Quincy Enunwa "set a Nebraska single-season record with 12 touchdowns, including a 99-yarder in the Gator Bowl."

All will get a chance to state their case in minicamp and training camp.

Chris Ivory
News
Jets running back Chris Ivory gained 43 yards on 13 carries with one touchdown while also adding three yards on one reception in his team's 31-24 loss to the Packers in Week 2.

For the second straight week, Ivory and Chris Johnson both received at least 10 carries, and for the second straight week, Ivory led the team in rushing. With the team already up 14-3, he took a handoff up the middle for a four-yard touchdown, which was upheld upon review, early in the second quarter. It was his second touchdown in as many weeks after breaking off a 71-yard score in Week 1.

The Jets could shift the focus of the running game towards Ivory after he impressed in each of the team's first two games. He'll look to keep rolling when the Bears come to town in Week 3.

Ben Ijalana

Jason Babin
News
The following players will not suit up for the Jets Thursday night against the Eagles: Kenrick Ellis, Jason Babin, IK Enemkpali, Kyle Wilson, Calvin Pryor, Troy Davis and Antwan Barnes.
Jeremiah George
News
The Jets announced Tuesday that wide receiver Quincy Enunwa and linebacker Jeremiah George have been signed to the practice squad.
Willie Colon
News
The Jets activated guard Willie Colon from the PUP list. Although he suffered a torn biceps in Week 17 and had arthroscopic knee surgery in late May, Colon is ready to practice.
Nick Folk
News
Jets kicker Nick Folk hit his only field-goal attempt Sunday, nailing a 52-yarder while adding three extra points in his team's 31-24 loss to the Packers. He's now converted all three of his field-goal attempts this season, with the shortest coming from 42 yards away.
Chris Johnson
News
Jets running back Chris Johnson rushed for just 21 yards on 12 carries and gained no yards on one catch in his team's 31-24 loss to the Packers in Week 2.

Johnson had trouble early and finished the first half with just seven yards on six carries despite his team leading 21-3 at one point in the second quarter. It was a disappointing performance after the former Titan was able to gain 5.2 yards per carry in Week 1 against the Raiders. Johnson will hope to bounce back next Monday night when the Bears come to town.
