Raiders rookie quarterback Derek Carr made a pretty strong case for himself to win the starting job during Thursday's preseason finale against the Seahawks.

Carr led the team to four touchdown drives, most of which came against Seattle's first unit. He hooked up with Denarius Moore for scores of 36 and 11 yards. He also fired a 20-yard touchdown pass to Mychal Rivera.

Carr completed 11 of 14 passes for 143 yards, with three touchdowns and no interceptions, finishing with a 152.1 passer rating. This preseason, the rookie signal-caller compiled 326 yards through the air while completing 30 of 45 passes. He added four touchdowns and one interception.

Matt Schaub
News
Raiders head coach Dennis Allen told reporters that the team will have a plan in place early in the week for their starting quarterback. When asked if he'll announce the starter then, Allen said he hasn't "given that much thought," according to the Bay Area News Group.

What Allen did note is that he won't make a decision until he sees where Matt Schaub is physically on Monday. Schaub was not at the team's practice facility on Friday due to personal issues.

Rookie Derek Carr compiled 326 yards through the air while completing 30 of 45 passes, with four touchdowns and one interception this preseason.

Darren McFadden
News

Maurice Jones-Drew
News
Raiders running back Maurice Jones-Drew looked like his old self during Friday's preseason game against the Packers.

Jones-Drew made some nifty moves to get past the defensive line and ripped a 40-yard touchdown run in the opening quarter. He took three handoffs for 45 yards and a touchdown and was pulled after the first drive of the game.
Brian Leonhardt
News
The Raiders officially finalized their 53-man roster Saturday by placing wide receiver Andre Holmes and guard Tony Bergstrom on the Reserve/Suspended List by the NFL.

In addition, the Raiders also waived the following 15 players from the roster: defensive tackle Ryan Baker, defensive end David Bass, linebacker Billy Boyko, defensive back Chance Casey, guard Jason Foster, tight end Richard Gordon, wide receiver Greg Jenkins, defensive back Shelton Johnson, tight end Brian Leonhardt, guard Lamar Mady, kicker Justin Medlock, defensive tackle Kurt Taufa'asau, linebacker Chase Thomas, wide receiver Conner Vernon and running back Deonte Williams.

Denarius Moore

Raiders wide receiver Denarius Moore pretty much maximized his four targets Thursday night against Seattle.

Moore caught a 36-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and added an 11-yard score in the second. He finished with three catches for 58 yards. Moore has snagged nine passes for 140 yards in the preseason.

Latavius Murray
News
Raiders second-year running back Latavius Murray underwent two surgeries on his ankle as a rookie, and only felt normal again in May, reports CSNBayArea.com. Murray feels "light years better" than last season and is poised to make an impact, the report said.

"It was a long road back," Murray said. "I'm so happy to be playing like myself again."

The 6-3, 225-pounder runs a 4.38 forty. He'll receive significant snaps if Maurice Jones-Drew or Darren McFadden get hurt.

"Now that he's back to being healthy, I think we're seeing a little bit more the type of back that we felt we were going to get when we drafted him," coach Dennis Allen said. "I think, to this point in camp and really through the first preseason game, he's done well."

Khalil Mack
News
Raiders linebacker and first-round pick Khalil Mack has struggled in two preseason games, according to CSNBayArea.com.

Mack managed just two tackles in the Friday defeat of Detroit, but none against the first team offense. He did, however, play better than he did in the preseason opener, where it has been reported he was late to recognize and adjust to the Minnesota offense. Dennis Allen expressed optimism in regard to his progress.

"There wasn't a ton of production from a standpoint of tackles or assists or sacks or whatever the case may be, but I thought he made improvement from where he was at last week," Allen said. "We'll have plenty more opportunities to do different things and get him maybe a little more involved early in the game. ... Khalil Mack is going to be just fine."
