The Eagles promoted tight end Emil Igwenagu from the practice squad to the active roster Wednesday.

Needing a boost in their receiving corps, the Eagles added wideout Greg Salas off waivers from the Patriots on Friday. Salas was released by New England on Thursday prior to its game against the Jets, the second time this season he was cut by the team.

Eagles tight end Clay Harbor was placed on injured reserve Tuesday because of a lower-back contusion suffered Week 15 vs. Cincinnati.

The Eagles have released tight end Evan Moore.

The Dolphins continued trimming their roster in preparation for the regular season and released the following players: wide receivers Roberto Wallace, Clyde Gates and B.J. Cunningham; linebackers Gary Guyton and Jamaal Westerman; and defensive lineman Ryan Baker.

The Cardinals waived or released the following players Friday: cornerback Crezdon Butler, linebacker Antonio Coleman, safety Blake Gideon, linebacker Clark Haggans, defensive tackle Ricky Lumpkin, linebacker Colin Parker, cornerback Larry Parker, wide receiver DeMarco Sampson, tight end Steve Skelton, running back Alfonso Smith, linebacker Quan Sturdivant, defensive end Ronald Talley, defensive end Everette Thompson, tight end Martell Webb and wide receiver Isaiah Williams.

Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks (foot) is active for the Week 11 game against Washington. Kendricks was able to practice in full during the week and was listed as probable entering Sunday.

The Eagles have released linebackers Ryan Rau and Marcus Dowtin, receiver Ron Johnson and cornerback Chris Hawkins

Revamping a secondary that posted one of the worst statistical seasons in recent history clearly is a top priority for the Eagles. The team signed cornerback Cary Williams and safety Kenny Phillips on Thursday.

The Eagles signed ex-Texans pass rusher Connor Barwin to a six-year deal.

The Browns promoted Brad Smelley to the active roster on Monday and waived Ronnie Cameron.

The Eagles signed undrafted free-agent quarterback Jacory Harris to a contract Friday. Harris, fresh off of a workout with the Dolphins, will battle for a roster spot this summer. Harris (6-foot-4, 195 pounds) compiled 8,826 passing yards and 70 touchdowns while adding five rushing scores in his time at the University of Miami (Fla.).

Linebacker Jamar Chaney (neck) was cleared by team doctors to participate in this week's OTAs. He's working at all three LB positions, but he will probably see most of his action on the weak side unless rookie Mychal Kendricks can't cut it on the strong side. "I feel great and I'm ready to go, no matter where they put me," Chaney said.

The Eagles made their initial roster cuts Saturday, waiving 10 players to get their roster to 80 players. Those cuts include: wide receivers Brian Hernandez, Tiger Rogers, McKay Jacobson and Elvis Akpla; defensive backs Wade Bonner, Tom Nelson and Kevin Thomas; and defensive lineman Xavier Brown.

Philadelphia linebacker DeMeco Ryans led the way for the Eagles yet again during Thursday's contest against the Bengals in Week 15. Ryans picked up nine tackles (six solo) and deflected a pass in a 34-13 defeat.

Notable players waived or released by the Lions Friday include: DE Everette Brown, DE Ugo Chinasa, WR Patrick Edwards, DT Andre Fluellen, TE Alex Gottlieb, WR Nate Hughes, S Reshard Langford, WR Lance Long, DE Edmon McClam, LB Carmen Messina, WR Wallace Miles, CB Justin Miller, DT Tracy Robertson, CB Alphonso Smith, WR Maurice Stovall, CB Ross Weaver and TE Austin Wells.

Eagles defender Trent Cole told PhillyMag.com that he played last year with a broken bone and torn tendons in his right hand. He had surgery for it during the offseason and should be fine for the start of training camp. As for where Cole will play in 2013, that's still up for debate. The pass rusher has been a lineman but could move to linebacker in Chip Kelly's new 3-4 scheme. He's lost 10 pounds and has been dropping into coverage, something he didn't do a lot of as a lineman. "We don’t know where we’re going to be at right now," said Cole.

Hand - Probable for start of training camp

Though Nick Foles did see some time with the first-team offense in minicamp practice Monday, Michael Vick still got the first rep and seemingly had at least a few more snaps. Head coach Chip Kelly downplayed the reps suggesting both quarterbacks were even in the race to start.

After taking offensive tackle Lane Johnson in the first round, the Eagles selected Stanford tight end Zach Ertz with the 35th overall pick Friday. Ertz was widely considered the best tight end in this draft after Notre Dame's Tyler Eifert, who went to the Bengals with the 21st pick on Thursday. Ertz replaced Coby Fleener last year and started all 14 games for the Cardinal in 2012. He finished with a team-high 69 catches for 898 yards and six scores, earning first-team All-Pac 12 and All-American honors.

Eagles LB Phillip Hunt had his best game of the season in Week 15, getting six tackles – solo – and a sack in Philadelphia’s 45-19 win over the Jets.

It's only May but the Eagles had DeSean Jackson returning punts during minicamp practice on Monday. It sounds like Jackson's happy about it. "[Coach Chip Kelly] wanted me to be back there and me wanting to be back there myself," said Jackson to Philadelphia Magazine when asked about returning to the spot. "I think last year, being able to have Damaris (Johnson) come in here and take on that role helped me out a lot. But at the end of the day too, I still missed a lot of those opportunities where I was able to do things in the past where if it was a 20-yard run, 50-yard run, whatever ... if it was a touchdown. I mean those were things that helped the offense out, and you really don’t realize it, but they help out a lot."

Ribs - Probable for start of training camp

Eagles defensive lineman Brandon Graham had another monster game during Thursday's contest against the Bengals in Week 15. Graham registered 2.5 sacks, including once in the second quarter which resulted in a fumble. He finished with six tackles (four solo) in a 34-13 defeat.

Eagles wide receiver Damaris Johnson made three catches during the Week 16 loss to the Redskins Sunday. Johnson caught three passes from quarterback Nick Foles for 25 yards. He was only targeted the three times in the game.

The Eagles placed WR Steve Smith on injured reserve Monday because of a knee injury. DL Cedric Thornton was promoted to the 53-man roster to take Smith's roster spot.

The Eagles released DB Trevard Lindley on Wednesday.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is No. 1 on the depth chart as of now. The report says "it seems Vick’s job to lose." Vick also is expected to run more under new coach Chip Kelly. Vick said last year under Andy Reid there were fewer design runs. He said the intention was to keep him healthy. The problem is what separates Vick from others is his running ability. If he’s the quarterback in Kelly’s offense, he’ll get a chance to run or at least be more of a threat to run.

The following players were cut by the Raiders Friday: LB Kaelin Burnett, K Eddy Carmona, WR Derek Carrier, WR Brandon Carswell, DE Hall Davis, TE Kyle Efaw, DL Dominique Hamilton, LB Chad Kilgore, WR Eddie McGee, RB Lonyae Miller, WR Roscoe Parrish, WR Travionte Session, LB Nathan Stupar and S Curtis Taylor.

The Eagles knew their run defense stunk last year, so they addressed it in the NFL Draft. They took Mississippi State defensive tackle Fletcher Cox with a first-round pick and Cal linebacker Mychal Kendricks with their first second-round choice. They backed those picked up with Marshall defensive end Vinny Curry and Georgia cornerback Brandon Boykin. Cox and Kendricks figure to be starters right away while Curry should work his way into the D-line rotation eventually while Boykin could develop into a nickelback down the line.

The Eagles quickly moved to sign Texans fullback/tight end James Casey in free agency, and coach Chip Kelly quickly explained why he liked him. "Extremely versatile, and one of the qualities we really liked about him," Kelly said, talking up his former work as a baseball player and lining up at six different positions while at Rice University. " ... [A]s a coach it's almost like you kind of got a new toy when there's a lot of different spots you can put him in because he's got a background in it and he's extremely smart, extremely intelligent. ... [A] guy that can really come into our program and have a big effect on what we're going to do."

Eagles running back LeSean McCoy says he's prepared to hand off a portion of the rushing workload this season, but it's not entirely because he's unselfish. McCoy told the media Thursday that Chip Kelly's offense is so labor intensive that one running back couldn't possibly handle every snap. Kelly is expected to utilize a hurry-up, no-huddle offense that will run the ball frequently, which means there will be a glut of carries to go around. "This is an offense where it's not a debate, 'I can do it myself,'" McCoy said. "For one, you are going to do more plays than any other offense. Two, the amount of hits. You’re running so much. If you’re faking it, or running it, pass or not, you’re constantly going. I think any back, no matter how great of shape he’s in, is going to need some extra help. You’re running so much, it’s like a freaking track meet. It’s like a relay. You need extra guys. ... We’re doubling the reps, we’re getting it fast-paced so it’s kind of beaten into your head, going over and over again. It’s one of those things you kind of learn on the run. Just in three days I feel like I have the majority of the offense down."

The Eagles have selected LSU defensive tackle Bennie Logan in the third round of the NFL Draft. Logan, 6-foot-2 and 309 pounds, was chosen Friday night with the 67th overall pick. Logan had two sacks, forced two fumbles and made 45 tackles last year. Logan is considered a strong rusher with good upper-body strength.

Arrelious Benn has signed a one-year contract extension with the Eagles, keeping him with the team through the 2014 season. Benn was candid when discussing his career with the Bucs. "If I'm being honest with you, I don’t like my career," Benn told Philadelphia Magazine. "I've got to stay healthy. I haven't stayed healthy. I've had a problem with injuries. When I was healthy and out there, I made plays. I was consistent. But the big thing for me is to stay healthy. It’s no secret for me, I know that. I’m going to be honest with myself. Just come in here and do what I've got to do."

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin is entering the final year of his contract, and he does not expect a new deal before the season. The report says "he has the potential to be a lead receiver in the NFL, but he has not yet had done that for a season. For the sake of his next contract, he should hope 2013 is the season he does it. " Maclin finished 2012 with 69 catches for 857 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games.

Two Eagles had surgeries on Tuesday -- DE Victor Abiamiri (ruptured Achilles' tendon) and S Marlin Jackson (sports hernia). Both players missed last season with different injuries -- Abiamiri's was a knee and Jackson's was an Achilles'.

Eagles kicker Alex Henery missed his only field goal attempt from 28 yards out during a 42-7 loss to the Giants Week 17. Henery converted his lone extra point attempt. Sunday was just the second time this season Henery failed to convert a field goal.

Philadelphia wide receiver Riley Cooper came down with only one catch during the Week 16 loss to Washington Sunday. Cooper went for 18 yards and was targeted twice overall by quarterback Nick Foles in the game.

The biggest surprise of the first round of the NFL Draft had to be the Bills selecting former Florida State quarterback EJ Manuel instead of the other first-round possibilities of Ryan Nassib and Geno Smith. Matt Barkley, however, was projected as more of a late first-round or second-round guy, though he was also rated by NFLDraftScout.com as the second-best quarterback in the NFL Draft. Except he went much later than that, as the Eagles drafted him with the first pick of the fourth round (98th overall) on Saturday. Barkley could have come out of school after his junior season. As it turns out, he might have been better off doing that -- even though he would have been going against Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III and Ryan Tannehill. Perhaps, if Barkley had a great 2012 season and led USC to a national title, this year's draft would have been a different story for him. But he didn't play that well, and the Trojans went 7-5. Now, Barkley is a fourth-round draft pick -- which, based off last year, is a big disappointment. That disappointment includes a massive financial hit in light of where pundits thought he'd get selected. Here's the good news, though. The Eagles wanted him badly enough to trade this year's seventh-round pick to the Jaguars in order to move up three spots and grab him.

Shoulder - Probable for start of training camp

The Eagles traded fullback Stanley Havili to the Colts for defensive end Clifton Geathers.

Philadelphia safety Kurt Coleman is starting for the Eagles in the Week 16 game Sunday. Coleman was probable entering the game on the injury report due to a chest contusion. He was never expected to miss time, however.

Eagles tight end Brent Celek totaled three catches for 43 yards Week 17 at N.Y. Giants. His longest catch went 28 yards and he was targeted five times. Celek finished the season with 57 catches for 684 yards and one touchdown in 15 games.

The Rams released linebacker David Nixon and wide receiver Nick Miller, who was facing a four-game suspension for using performance-enhancing drugs. The team also did not offer a tender to restricted free agent defensive end C.J. Ah You.

The Eagles were able to sign defensive back Curtis Marsh, who they selected in the third round of April's NFL Draft, on Wednesday just in time for camp. The converted running back transitioned well to defense in his senior season at Utah State, starting 12 games at cornerback last year with a pair of interceptions.

The Eagles have signed a new deal with safety Colt Anderson.

Eagles linebacker Casey Matthews suffered a concussion Week 17 at N.Y. Giants and was unable to finish the game. He had no stats before getting hurt.

The Eagles have traded running back Dion Lewis to the Browns for linebacker Emmanuel Acho.

The Eagles are taking a chance on 6-foot-7 receiver Ifeanyi Momah, signing him to a deal in March. Momah was a fifth-year senior at Boston College when he tore his ACL in the first game of the 2011 season, ending his college career. He didn't play in 2012 but obviously did enough during a workout at his school to impress the Eagles.

Eagles defensive back Brandon Hughes was forced out of Thursday's contest against the Bengals after suffering an undisclosed injury. Hughes sustained the injury after taking a brutal block during punt coverage. He was able to walk to the sidelines under his own power.

Eagles defensive lineman Fletcher Cox had another quality performance during Thursday's contest against the Bengals in Week 15. Cox had a productive game as he registered 1.5 sacks in a 34-13 defeat. He also finished with four tackles (three solo) on the night.

Eagles wide receiver Jason Avant finished with four catches for 39 yards Week 17 at N.Y. Giants. Avant, who was targeted five times, left the game after the team's first drive for X-rays on his foot and knee, but he returned to action in the second quarter and finished out the game. Avant finished the season with 53 catches for 648 yards and no touchdowns in 14 games. It was the first time in his seven-year career Avant didn't have at least one receiving touchdown.

Eagles defensive back David Sims led his team in tackles in Week 9 against the Saints. He recorded eight total (six solo) and also defended a pass in the 28-13 loss.

The Eagles have signed former Arena League quarterback G.J. Kinne.

The Eagles released quarterback Trent Edwards on Monday, the team announced. Edwards, who served as Philadelphia's No. 3 QB last season, attempted just two passes all of last year.

The Eagles on Thursday agreed to a two-year deal with quarterback Dennis Dixon. Eagles coach Chip Kelly was Dixon's offensive coordinator his senior season at Oregon, when Dixon threw for 20 touchdowns, rushed for nine more and threw four interceptions. Dixon has attempted just 59 passes in four games over five NFL seasons with the Steelers and Ravens.

Philadelphia defensive back Nate Allen (hamstring) is inactive for the Week 9 Monday night game at New Orleans. Allen was questionable to play due to his injury this week after being listed as probable Week 8 with the same ailment and playing in that game against the Falcons.
