Antonio Brown
News
Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown restructured his contract and freed up $4 million worth of cap space for Pittsburgh, ESPN reports. Brown racked up a franchise-best 1,499 yards and added a career-high eight touchdowns last season.
Jarvis Jones
News
Steelers outside linebacker Jarvis Jones was quick enough as a rookie, but "was overwhelmed at times" and has been told to "hit the weight room," reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Jones failed to hold onto a starting job and finished with 41 tackles and a sack in 14 games.
Fernando Velasco
News
Steelers offensive lineman Fernando Velasco had surgery Saturday to fix a ruptured Achilles tendon, coach Mike Tomlin announced Tuesday. Velasco was placed on injured reserve over the weekend.
Cam Thomas
News
The Steelers signed Cam Thomas to play defensive end in their 3-4 scheme, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Thomas primarily played nose tackle for the Chargers. He could still see snaps at the nose in Pittsburgh, the report said.
Marcus Gilbert
News
Steelers tackle Marcus Gilbert will play Sunday against Green Bay despite an ankle ailment that had him deemed as probable.
Devin Smith
News
The Steelers removed defensive back Devin Smith from their practice squad with an injury settlement, reports the National Football Post.
Markus Wheaton
News
The Steelers "seem committed to Markus Wheaton -- or at least giving him every opportunity to win a starting job," reports ESPN.com. The second-year wideout can put a lost rookie season behind him if he seizes the chance to replace Emmanuel Sanders, who signed with the Broncos.

Coach Mike Tomlin said Pittsburgh needs Wheaton to take "a significant step" forward.

Matt Spaeth
News
The Steelers used three tight ends Sunday at Green Bay and all of them made small contributions to the victory.

The most interesting was a 30-yard grab by David Paulson from Mat McBriar on the first possession of the second half off a fake punt. The catch led to a touchdown that put Pittsburgh ahead.

Another rare contributor as a pass-catcher who played the role of hero was Matt Spaeth, who snagged an 11-yard scoring strike from quarterback Ben Roethlisberger later in that quarter to again put his team up.

Starting tight end Heath Miller pitched in with three receptions for 17 yards.

Levi Brown
News
The Steelers cleared more than $9 million in cap space by releasing linebacker Larry Foote, offensive tackle Levi Brown and cornerback Curtis Brown. Foote spent 11 seasons with the team, making 113 tackles in 2012.

Levi Brown had a 2014 cap figure of $6.5 million, and Foote was scheduled to count $1.8 million against the cap.

David Snow
News
The loss of linebacker Jarvis Jones with an illness highlights the inactive report submitted Sunday by the Steelers for their game at Green Bay.

The healthy scratches are defensive tackle Hebron Fangupo, cornerback Isaiah Green, quarterback Landry Jones, wideout Derek Moye, offensive lineman David Snow and linebacker Jamaal Westerman .

Cortez Allen
News
Steelers cornerback Cortez Allen would like to become a shadow corner and follow around the opposing team's best receiver, reports the official team website. He would be replacing Ike Taylor in that role if it happens in 2014.

"Of course," Allen said. "I've always liked to challenge myself. I've always wanted that challenge just to see how I match up. And it's always fun to go against talent like that. Ike's done it before me. Hopefully, one day I'll be in that position to be the level of player that he is. It's a day-by-day process. I'm just trying to learn as much as I can from him and the guys around me. Wherever I am in the defense, wherever they see fit, what's best for the team, then that’s where I'll be. I've never been a guy who said, 'I want to play on this side or that side.' We’re both capable of playing either side. And we're both capable of playing anybody we face. It's always us. It's never them."

Bruce Gradkowski
News
The Steelers have signed quarterback Bruce Gradkowski to a three-year deal. The Pittsburgh native, who once led the Raiders to an improbable win at Heinz Field, will back up Big Ben.

Terence Garvin
News
Linebacker Terence Garvin, who made his first start in Week 16, won't make his second on Sunday. He is the lone Steelers player ruled out for the game against the Browns. Fellow linebacker Jason Worilds (abdomen) is questionable while the other injured are probable.

They are guard David DeCastro (back), linebacker Jarvis Jones (illness), defensive end Brett Keisel (foot) and wide receiver Markus Wheaton (foot). All were full participants in Friday practice.

News

Mike Mitchell
News
Free agent safety Mike Mitchell signed a five-year deal worth $25 million with the Steelers Tuesday, at the start of the free agency period. ESPN.com confirmed the financial terms of the deal Tuesday night.

Mitchell will receive a big time increase over the $1 million he made during his breakout season for the Panthers last year, during which he record 67 tackles, four interceptions and two forced fumbles.

Felix Jones
News
The Steelers will try to re-sign free agent running backs Jonathan Dwyer and LaRod Stephens-Howling but not Felix Jones, reports ESPN.com. Dwyer would be an ideal backup to Le'Veon Bell but might leave for a chance to play more, the report said.

Stephens-Howling must prove he's healthy following ACL surgery. If he's the only one who returns, the Steelers would seek to bolster the position through free agency or the draft, the report said.

Miguel Maysonet
News
The Redskins signed running back Miguel Maysonet to their practice squad.
Mike Adams
News
The Broncos are in fine shape heading into their AFC title game Sunday against New England. All but one player on their Wednesday injury report was a full participant in practice. That was safety Mike Adams (thigh).

Those who practiced in full include quarterback Peyton Manning (ankle). Ther others are tight end Joel Dreessen (knee), safety Duke Ihenacho (knee), tackle Winston Justice (finger), guard Chris Kuper (ankle) and cornerback Kayvon Webster (thumb).

Chris Carter
News
The Steelers enter Week 10 against the Bills mostly healthy, as their inactive list is made up of mostly healthy scratches Sunday. Linebackers Kion Wilson and Chris Carter, defensive back DeMarcus Van Dyke, defensive lineman Hebron Fangupo, tight end Richard Gordon, quarterback Landry Jones, and wide receiver Derek Moye represent the team's list of inactives for the week.
Arthur Moats
News
The Steelers and free agent linebacker Arthur Moats agreed to terms on a one-year deal, reports Pro Football Talk. Moats made 54 tackles for the Bills last year.
Ramon Foster
News
The Steelers are in great shape offensively heading into their clash in Cleveland on Sunday. All players on their Friday injury report on that side of the ball are probable.

Included are tight end Heath Miller (not injury related), guards Fernando Velasco (knee), Kelvin Beachum (hip) and Ramon Foster (ankle) and wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders (foot).

Vic So'oto
News
The Steelers signed linebacker Vic So'oto and running back Tauren Poole to reserve/futures contracts, enabling them to participate in the offseason program.
Brad Wing
News
Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said recently-signed punter Brad Wing has matured.

“It's a no-lose situation for us,” Colbert told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “He got married recently and has a child, and players mature as the years go. If we weren't comfortable with (his) character, we don't sign him.”

Incumbent punter Mat McBriar is a free agent.

Kelvin Beachum
News
Steelers guard Kelvin Beachum is ready to roll Sunday at Green Bay. He has been given the green light after being listed as probable.
Ike Taylor
News
Veteran defensive back Ike Taylor announced on Twitter he's re-signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday. Taylor will likely be taking a paycut with the Steelers his time around. He registered 63 tackles last season.
Ross Ventrone
News
Seven Steelers who finished the season on the practice squad have been signed by the team to futures contracts.

They are running back Alvester Alexander, wide receiver Justin Brown, offensive linemen Bryant Browning and Chris Hubbard, wide receiver Kashif Moore, safety Ross Ventrone and linebacker Kion Wilson.

Lawrence Timmons
News
Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons made significant contributions to the win Sunday at Green Bay. He tied for the team lead with 10 tackles, added a sack and TFL, and twice put a lick on Packers quarterback Matt Flynn.
Brian Arnfelt
News
The Steelers added defensive line depth Saturday, announcing the signing of Brian Arnfelt from the practice squad. Arnfelt is an undrafted rookie free agent who has spent the season on the team's practice squad.

Linebacker Kion Wilson was waived to make room on the 53-man roster, the team announced.

Cody Wallace
News
The Steelers re-signed center/guard Cody Wallace to a three-year deal. Coaches liked how Wallace played center after Fernando Velasco's Achilles injury last season, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Shaun Suisham
News
Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham continued his strong play in Week 17, a 20-7 win over the Browns. He connected on both of his field goals, from 32 and 30 yards, and added a pair of successful points after touchdown to finish with his second eight-point game in a row.

This has been Suisham's best season, as he finished with a career-high 129 points whiel connected on 93.8 percent of his field goals, also a career-high.

Le'Veon Bell
News
Even with the addition of running back LeGarrette Blount, the Steelers still plan to lean on Le'Veon Bell, reports ESPN.

The report says the Steelers "are committed to Le'Veon Bell as their feature back -- as they should be." He will continue to get the majority of the carries, but Blount does provide the Steelers much-needed insurance behind Bell.

Jamaal Westerman

Plaxico Burress
News
Wideout Plaxico Burress is slated to be a free agent this spring but a story on the Steelers' official website says he still wants to play even after having shoulder surgery.

"I am doing pretty good," Burress said. "I still have a ways to go from a rehab standpoint. I am rehabbing every day and will see how it feels when the offseason program starts. ... Right now I am working on the range of motion, trying to get all of the range of motion back that I can. As the weeks and months go by I am getting stronger. Getting my range of motion back is the most important thing for me with the position I play, being able to catch balls the way that I need to."

Burress will be 37 when the 2014 season starts.

Antwon Blake
News
The Steelers have listed the following healthy players as inactive for the Week 4 game from London against the Vikings: QB Landry Jones (3rd QB); OL Cody Wallace; NT Hebron Fangupo; WR Derek Moye; CB Isaiah Green; and CB Antwon Blake
Nick Williams
News
On Day 3 of the NFL draft the Steelers selected Syracuse safety Shamarko Thomas, Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones, Illinois cornerback Terry Hawthorne, Oklahoma receiver Justin Brown, Florida State linebacker Vince Williams and Samford defensive tackle Nick Williams.
Darrius Heyward-Bey
News
Free agent receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, a major disappointment since being drafted No. 7 overall in 2009, signed a one-year contract with the Steelers. He had 29 catches for 309 yards and a touchdown with the Colts last season.
Brice McCain
News
The Steelers signed former Texans cornerback Brice McCain, reports Steelers Depot. He's coming off a horrible season in Houston that led to his release.
Mat McBriar
News
The Steelers announced Tuesday they made a change at punter. They waived punter Zoltan Mesko and replaced him with former Cowboys punter Mat McBriar.
Jason Worilds
News
Steelers outside linebacker Jason Worilds signed his transition tag and is scheduled to make $9.75 million for the 2014 season, reports CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora. The team and Worilds have made progress in negotiating a long-term deal and "that will be the goal of both parties now," La Canfora wrote.
Lance Moore
News
Despite signing free agent receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, the Steelers "will still take a wide receiver with one of their first three picks" in the draft, reports ESPN.com. Pittsburgh lost Emmanuel Sanders and Jerricho Cotchery in free agency while adding Lance Moore and Heyward-Bey.

The Steelers hope second-year wideout Markus Wheaton takes a big step forward and develops into a starter opposite Antonio Brown.

Isaiah Green

Cameron Heyward
News
Steelers linebacker Cameron Heyward led the team in tackles Sunday, in a 34-28 loss to the Dolphins in Week 14. Heyward racked up nine stops -- six solo -- one of which went for a sack, his third in five games.

Heyward has come on strong lately, and now has 46 tackles and four sacks on the season, both of which are personal bests.

Robert Golden
No Updates
Vince Williams
News
The Steelers defense is healthy for Week 10 against the Bills, after three players from the injury report were able to play through their various issues. Defensive lineman Cameron Heyward (knee), linebacker Vince Williams (concussion) and defensive back Ike Taylor (concussion) are all active for Sunday's game.
Michael Palmer
News
The Steelers re-signed tight end Michael Palmer to a one-year deal. He played in every game last year, serving primarily as a blocker and making an 8-yard catch.

Pittsburgh claimed Palmer off waivers last August.

Heath Miller
News
The Steelers signed tight end Heath Miller to a two-year extension that lowers his 2014 cap number from $9.5 million to $6.1 million, reports USA Today. Miller received base salaries of $4 million in 2015 and 2016.
Jasper Collins
News
The Steelers have signed wide receiver Jasper Collins and safety Jordan Dangerfield to futures contracts.
Greg Warren
News
The Steelers re-signed safety Will Allen and long snapper Greg Warren to one-year contracts. Allen played for the Cowboys and Steelers last season, making 42 tackles and two interceptions.
Bryant Browning

LeGarrette Blount
News
Running back LeGarrette Blount was not signed by the Steelers merely as a backup to Le'Veon Bell, according to Steelers Depot. His role has yet to be defined, but Pittsburgh did not spend nearly $4 million over two years to sit him on the bench and play him only if Bell is injured.

Blount blossomed as a featured back at the end of the regular season and in the playoffs with New England in 2013.

Bell had close to 300 touches in just 13 games a year ago. The addition of Blount could limit him to fewer carries and make him less of an injury risk.

Brett Keisel
News
Free agent defensive lineman Brett Keisel still wants to play football, CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reported this week. Keisel spent the past 12 seasons in Pittsburgh as a 3-4 end and could be the solution to a team running a 3-4 scheme looking for a one- or two-year fix. La Canfora speculated he might wind up with the Jets.
William Gay
News
Nickel cornerback William Gay is "underrated and underappreciated but not by the Steelers," according to the team's website. The site expects Gay, who's owed $1.5 million in 2014, to stick on the roster because "he is precisely the kind of player a team needs to contend."

Gay, 29, had 63 tackles, nine passes defensed, two forced fumbles, an interception return for a touchdown and a sack last season.

Adam Podlesh
News
The Steelers have signed punter Adam Podlesh, who previously served with the Jaguars and Bears. He was released from the Bears in March, saving nearly $1.5 million.

Podlesh ranked 29th last season with an average of 37.9 yards per punt.

Sean Spence
News
The Steelers plan to have linebacker Sean Spence in training camp and have some hope of him contributing after his career was in jeopardy.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Spence had "one great day of practice" while on the PUP list last year, which made Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert reasonably optimistic. Colbert quickly added that it would be naive of the team to think Spence is done with his rehab and ready for football.

Spence suffered a torn ACL, LCL and a dislocated kneecap in a gruesome moment during a preseason game in 2012. He has yet to play in an NFL game.

Will Allen
News
The Steelers re-signed safety Will Allen and long snapper Greg Warren to one-year contracts. Allen played for the Cowboys and Steelers last season, making 42 tackles and two interceptions.
Alvester Alexander

Dan Molls
News
The Chargers trimmed 11 players from its roster on Friday, the team announced.

Players released were cornerback Cornelius Brown, safety Sean Cattouse, linebacker Phillip Dillard, cornerback Gregory Gatson, linebacker Jerrell Harris, cornerback William Middleton, linebacker Dan Molls, tackle Randy Richards guard Stephen Schilling, tackle Max Starks and wide Receiver Luke Tasker.
Troy Polamalu
News
The Steelers gave safety Troy Polamalu a two-year contract extension, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Terms were not immediately available.
Kion Wilson

Ben Roethlisberger
News
The Steelers traditionally address their quarterbacks' contracts two years out, but general manager Kevin Colbert said that might not be the case with Ben Roethlisberger. Big Ben is set to make $12 million this year and $11 million in 2015. His deal carries cap hits of nearly $18.9 million and $18.3 million.

“We'll get through free agency, get through the draft and see where we are,” Colbert said, per the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “Traditionally we have done quarterbacks (contracts) two years out, but as (team president) Art (Rooney) stated, we may or may not be in a position to do something this summer.”

The Steelers won't be able to lower Roethlisberger's cap impact unless they sign him to a long-term extension. He turned 32 this month.

Jordan Dangerfield
News
The Steelers have signed wide receiver Jasper Collins and safety Jordan Dangerfield to futures contracts.
Will Johnson
News
Two greatly used Steelers wideouts caught just three passes between them Sunday at Green Bay, but one was a biggie.

That one was a 1-yard scoring snag in the first quarter by Emmanuel Sanders, who finished with two receptions for 7 yards. Jerricho Cotchery caught one pass for 9 yards in the win.

Also pitching in were running backs Jonathan Dwyer, who both ran and received for 7 yards, and fullback Will Johnson, who caught one pass for 6 yards. Fellow back Felix Jones had one rushing attempt for 6 yards.

Landry Jones
News
Quarterback Landry Jones has shown very little to justify the Steelers taking him in the fourth-round last year, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which expects Jones to be a third-stringer again in 2014. If the Steelers could redo that draft pick, the paper said, "they'd draft a cornerback or another safety or a tight end, anything but a quarterback in that fourth round."

Ben Roethlisberger did not miss a snap last season and veteran backup Bruce Gradkowski is signed through 2015.

LaRod Stephens-Howling

Christopher Hubbard

David Paulson

Justin Brown
News
Steelers receiver Derek Moye went to Southern California last week to work out with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, reports the Beaver County Times. Also there were fellow receivers Markus Wheaton and Justin Brown.

"It went well," Moye said. "It was a chance to get out there and catch some balls from him on the field, but we didn't do that all day. We were able to get to know each other a little bit better as well."

The goal was to work on timing with Roethlisberger and develop a rapport.

"It was really about (Roethlisberger) getting a feel for some of us a little bit more," Moye said. "We ran some different routes that he wanted to work with us individually on."

Danny Coale
News

Steve McLendon
News
The Steelers are looking to upgrade the middle of their defensive line after nose tackle Steve McLendon's performance in 2013, reports ESPN.com. McLendon made his average tackle after a gain of 3.0 yards, worst of any starting nose tackle in a 3-4 defense, according to Football Outsiders.

Pittsburgh gave up 125 rushing yards per game after yielding 95 yards per game in 2012. McLendon is signed through 2015, but most expect the Steelers to take a defensive tackle early in the draft.
