The Chargers listed 16 players on their final injury report leading up to Week 6 at Oakland. Running backs Donald Brown (concussion) and Ryan Mathews (knee), along with linebacker Manti Te'o (foot) and cornerback Shareece Wright (knee) were ruled out for Sunday.

Deemed questionable were the following players: wide receiver Malcom Floyd (calf), tackle D.J. Fluker (ankle), outside linebackers Jarret Johnson (back, ankle) and Cordarro Law (ankle), offensive lineman Rich Ohrnberger (back), safety Darrell Stuckey (quad) and linebacker Reggie Walker (ankle).

The Chargers backup pass catchers did little Week 5 against the Jets.

Seyi Ajirotutu hauled in one catch for 11 yards. Ladarius Green also had one catch, picking up eight yards during the contest.

Both players will look for more Week 6 against the Raiders.

Chargers tight end Antonio Gates came up big Thursday night against the Broncos.

The Chargers offense wasn't all that impressive early, but Gates still managed to make some plays. He only had 3 yards in the first quarter, but got going in the second. On the team's second drive of the quarter, Gates drew a defensive pass interference penalty and picked up 37 yards on two catches. He really started to come on during the second half. On Gates' first reception of the third quarter, he managed a 4 yard touchdown. On the next drive, Gates hauled in a 10 yard score from Philip Rivers. He finished with five receptions for 54 yards and two scores. 

Gates will take on the Dolphins Week 9.

Richard Marshall

The Chargers have re-signed cornerback Richard Marshall according to NFL Network. Marshall finished last year with 71 total tackles with six passes defensed and a forced fumble.

Chargers corner Jason Verrett had his arm in a sling following Thursday's game against the Broncos. 

Verrett entered the contest questionable due to a shoulder injury, and had to leave in the middle of the game. He made one tackle, and was unable to return after being ruled questionable again. Following the game, Verrett had his left shoulder in a sling.

Chargers running back Shaun Draughn couldn't do much Week 5 against the Jets.

Draughn got some action with Donald Brown out, but couldn't capitalize. He gained just 19 yards on 10 carries. Draughn was not targeted in the passing game. He'll take on the Raiders Week 6.

Royal had the better game, catching three balls for 29 yards. He caught all three of his targets. Green had just one catch Thursday, picking up 9 yards. 

Both players will look for more Week 9 against the Dolphins.

The Chargers were able to sign a host of picks from April's NFL Draft on Wednesday. Among them was former Mizzou LB Andrew Gachkar, who was selected in the seventh round. Gachkar's four-year deal was signed just before camp began.
Malcom Floyd

Chargers wideout Malcom Floyd battled a shoulder injury Thursday against the Broncos. 

Floyd hauled in four passes for 58 yards during the contest. He was injured on his second catch of the night. Floyd went up between two defenders, and came down hard on his shoulder. He left the game briefly to head back to the locker room. Floyd was diagnosed with a shoulder injury, but was probable to return. He did return to the contest, and was able to pick up two more catches.

Floyd will look for more Week 9 against the Dolphins.

The Chargers have seven defensive players on the final injury report leading up to Week 4 against Jacksonville. As expected, linebacker Reggie Walker (ankle) and Manti Te'o (foot) were the only defensive players ruled out for Sunday.

Linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu, who didn't practice all week with a hamstring injury, was ruled doubtful. Cornerback Jason Verrett missed practice all week but was deemed questionable.

Meanwhile, cornerback Brandon Flowers (hip), safety Marcus Gilchrist (shoulder) and defensive tackle Corey Liuget (ankle) all worked through their respective injuries this week and were labeled probable for Sunday.

The Chargers made several moves Tuesday, adding running back Shaun Draughn and linebackers Kevin Reddick and Cordarro Law to the active roster. The team also placed running back Danny Woodhead on injured reserve and released defensive lineman Lawrence Guy.

The Chargers added three players to the practice squad Tuesday as well: running back D.J. Adams, tight end David Paulson and outside linebacker Colton Underwood. Adrian Phillips was released from the practice squad, while Marcus Cromartie was released from the reserved-injured list.

Chargers kicker Nick Novak did not receive a field goal opportunity Thursday against the Broncos.

Novak did manage to hit all three of his extra point attempts, but that was it. With the team falling behind early, Novak wasn't a factor later in the contest. Near the end of the third quarter, the team could have opted for a field goal on fourth down, but instead decided to play for the score. They managed to convert, giving Novak one point instead of three. 

Novak will look for more Week 9 against the Dolphins.

Chargers veteran tight end John Phillips has been placed on IR with a right knee injury sustained Sunday against Oakland. He will miss the season finale against Kansas City. He finishes the season with four receptions for 30 yards. He will be replaced on the roster by fellow tight end Jake Byrne.

Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers turned in an uneven game Thursday against the Broncos.

Rivers completed 30 of 41 passes for 252 yards. He threw three touchdowns, but also added two interceptions. Rivers had a tough time getting much done during the first half. The Chargers were held to small gains, as Rivers' longest completion went for just 15 yards. Things opened up a bit at halftime. Rivers would finally manage to connect on some big gains, and found his old friend Antonio Gates to be a major asset late in the contest. San Diego had a slim chance to get back into the game, but a late interception by Rivers sealed the victory for Denver. Rivers did have one carry during the contest, picking up 17 yards.

Rivers will look for more Week 9 against the Dolphins.

Chargers cornerback Steve Williams is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Chiefs due to a groin injury, the team announced. The injury leaves the Chargers very thin at the position with Brandon Flowers (concussion) ruled out.

The Chargers have listed the following players as inactive for Sunday's Week 7 matchup with the Chiefs: cornerback Jason Verrett (shoulder), running backs Ryan Mathews (knee) and Donald Brown (concussion), linebackers Jeremiah Attaochu (hamstring) and Manti Te'o (foot), wide receiver Dontrelle Inman and defensive tackle Ricardo Mathews.

The two running backs and Te'o were ruled out on the team's final injury report, while Attaochu was doubtful to play. Verrett is inactive after being questionable on the final injury report, but cornerback Brandon Flowers (groin) and linebackers Dwight Freeney (knee) and Cordarro Law (ankle) are all active after also being questionable.

Five Chargers are active after drawing a probable tag, including wide receiver Eddie Royal (elbow), linebacker Reggie Walker (ankle), cornerback Shareece Wright (knee) and offensive linemen D.J. Fluker (ankle) and Rich Ohrnberger (back).

Chargers wideout Keenan Allen managed to find the end zone Week 8.

Allen proved to be Philip Rivers' safety blanket throughout the night. He ran a lot of underneath routes that wound up going for short gains. Allen managed to haul in nine catches for 73 yards and a score during the contest. His longest reception during the game was 19 yards. 

Allen's touchdown came on a quick pass down near the goal line. He received a block from a receiver, and was able to quickly shoot past a defender for the 2 yard score. Allen will look for more Week 9 against the Dolphins.

Chargers running back Branden Oliver was limited Thursday night against the Broncos.

Oliver carried the ball 13 times, but produced just 36 rushing yards. He averaged just 2.8 yards per attempt. Oliver did manage to make an impact in the passing game, hauling in seven passes, but gained just 27 yards. The Chargers had trouble running early, and had to abandon the run after falling behind. 

Oliver will look for more Week 9 against the Dolphins.

Brown received just one carry, gaining 8 yards. He also caught his only target, picking up 2 yards on the play. Brown will look for more Week 9 against the Dolphins.

Royal had the better game, catching three balls for 29 yards. He caught all three of his targets. Green had just one catch Thursday, picking up 9 yards. 

Both players will look for more Week 9 against the Dolphins.

Clary will not count toward the team's initial 53-man roster, but he won't be able to return until the team's seventh game. He is still working his way back from offseason hip surgery.

The results of an MRI have revealed that Chargers nose tackle Kwame Geathers is dealing with a sprained and hyperextended left knee, U-T San Diego reports.

It's a relief after Geathers appeared to suffer a serious injury in Sunday's preseason game. He isn't expected to miss an overly extensive amount of time, according to the report.

Addae took a couple big hits during the game, and came up wobbling. He was given a concussion test on the sideline, which he reportedly passed during the game. Addae recorded four tackles.

The Friday night lambasting by Seattle did feature a few positives for the Chargers. Among them for the second straight game was the play of quarterback Kellen Clemens.

Clemens, who managed a perfect quarterback rating in the preseason opener, recorded a 118.9 against the Seahawks by completing 14 of 21 passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns.

"He did a really nice job once again this week (with) doing certain things and managing the game," Mike McCoy told the team website. "He got in the right spots, got us in and out of plays at certain times, and making some plays in the red zone for us. ... He's growing in the system."

Clemens is all but set to open the season as the backup to Philip Rivers.

The Chargers announced Wednesday offensive lineman Nick Hardwick was placed on injured reserve due to a neck injury.

"It’s hard and it’s still setting in," he said of missing the rest of the season, per the team's official website. "I have a touch of shock I guess and I don’t really know how I feel right now.  You’re programmed one way and through everything you’ve done you’ve always continued to push forward and push through to find ways to get on the field. Unfortunately for this season it’s not going to happen anymore."
