News
The Chargers listed 16 players on their final injury report leading up to Week 6 at Oakland. Running backs Donald Brown (concussion) and Ryan Mathews (knee), along with linebacker Manti Te'o (foot) and cornerback Shareece Wright (knee) were ruled out for Sunday.

Deemed questionable were the following players: wide receiver Malcom Floyd (calf), tackle D.J. Fluker (ankle), outside linebackers Jarret Johnson (back, ankle) and Cordarro Law (ankle), offensive lineman Rich Ohrnberger (back), safety Darrell Stuckey (quad) and linebacker Reggie Walker (ankle).

Wide receiver Keenan Allen (quad), outside linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu (hamstring) and Dwight Freeney (knee), inside linebacker Donald Butler (shoulder) and tight end David Johnson (knee, shoulder) were the only players ruled probable for the game.

Seyi Ajirotutu
News
The Chargers got a slew of offensive contributions in their 27-24 win over the Rams on Sunday. Among them, running back Branden Oliver carried six times for 17 yards and caught all four of his targets for 23 yards. Running back Donald Brown caught two passes for 20 yards and had a 7-yard rush.

Tight end Antonio Gates caught both his targets for 14 yards, while tight end Ladarius Green hauled in two of three targets for 34 yards. Wideout Malcom Floyd secured four of five targets for 30 yards.

Wideout Seyi Ajirotutu made an 8-yard grab. They'll all visit the Ravens in Week 13.

Tourek Williams
News
The Chargers declared safety Jahleel Addae (hamstring), linebacker Tourek Williams, corner Chris Davis, wideout Dontrelle Inman, defensive tackle Ricardo Mathews, running back Branden Oliver and defensive tackle Ryan Carrethers inactive for Monday night's game at Arizona.
Antonio Gates
News
For the first eight weeks of the season, Philip Rivers looked like a must-start Fantasy quarterback, even putting together a stretch of seven straight games with multiple touchdown passes. Tight end Antonio Gates was on the receiving end of nine of them.

But in four weeks since then, nothing has gone right for them. Though he got his yardage back up to a respectable level, Rivers had his third straight game with no more than one touchdown pass Week 12 against St. Louis, most likely confining him to the bench in standard 12-team leagues for at least another week. And Gates probably belongs there with him.

As critical as Gates was to Rivers' success in the early going, perhaps it's no surprise he's struggling now. He was targeted only twice in Week 12, catching both balls for 14 yards, and is averaging 2.7 catches for 24.7 yards during Rivers' three-game drought. And of course, he has no touchdowns.

It's not exactly a chicken-and-egg scenario. Whether or not health is a factor, as has been rumored, Rivers' struggles have most likely led to Gates' and not the other way around. But because their fates are so closely tied, you'll need to see Rivers get back on track before you can fully trust Gates again. Tight end being a much shallower position, though, Gates isn't the clear sit Rivers is.

Jason Verrett
News
The Chargers announced several roster moves on Saturday.

The team added linebacker Melvin Ingram to the 53-man active roster, as expected. Ingram missed the first seven games of the season because of a hip injury. Rookie cornerback Jason Verrett was placed on the season-ending injured reserve list with a shoulder injury. Verrett will undergo surgery to repair his left labrum, which was torn in three different places, according to U-T San Diego.

Meanwhile, in corresponding moves, the team waived outside linebacker Cordarro Law and promoted safety Adrian Phillips from the practice squad.

Floyd scored the only touchdown of the day on either side just a few plays into the game, catching a 22-yard pass on San Diego's second offensive play. It was the fourth touchdown of the season for Floyd but his first score in his last four games. The 44 yards represented his lowest yardage total since Week 4. His next matchup will be at home against the Rams in Week 12.

Five Chargers are active after drawing a probable tag, including wide receiver Eddie Royal (elbow), linebacker Reggie Walker (ankle), cornerback Shareece Wright (knee) and offensive linemen D.J. Fluker (ankle) and Rich Ohrnberger (back).

Keenan Allen
News
For the second time this season, Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen topped 100 yards in a game Week 12 against St. Louis, and for the second time this season, he found the end zone, scoring on a 29-yard catch in the fourth quarter. It was the first time he did both in the same game, which was the kind of production Fantasy owners expected from him coming into the season.

So is he finally delivering on his potential? Oh, who knows?

Here are the positives for Allen: With another nine targets in Week 12, he has averaged 10.8 over his last five games, a clear improvement from his first six, and his primary competition for red-zone looks, tight end Antonio Gates, has been conspicuously absent the last three weeks.

Here are the negatives for Allen: Even with all those extra targets, he has still averaged just 69.0 yards over his last five games, and quarterback Philip Rivers has stopped throwing touchdown passes not just to Gates but in general.

I have enough confidence in Rivers and the Chargers offense as a whole to keep Allen on my roster, but I'm not activating him based on this performance.

Adrian Phillips

Branden Oliver
News
Even though Chargers running back Ryan Mathews was more effective than Branden Oliver in his return from a shoulder injury, he split carries almost evenly with his replacement Week 11 against Oakland. That wasn't so much the case Week 12 against St. Louis, though, when Mathews took his first carry 11 yards and never looked back en route to 105. He also scored a touchdown on a 32-yard run in the third quarter.

He injured his shoulder on that play, which was a big reason why Oliver got the six carries he did, but Mathews returned and still finished with twice as many. Imagine how many yards he would have had if he had gotten 15-to-18 carries.

If Mathews had struggled to keep up with Oliver after the long layoff, the Chargers might continue to ease him in, but since he's been far and away the more effective of the two in two games back, he looks like he'll take the job and run with it, reducing Oliver to just a handcuff option in Fantasy.

Mathews falls a little short of must-start status with an especially tough matchup Week 13 at Baltimore, but for most owners, he's probably still worth running out there.

Ryan Mathews

"He did a really nice job once again this week (with) doing certain things and managing the game," Mike McCoy told the team website. "He got in the right spots, got us in and out of plays at certain times, and making some plays in the red zone for us. ... He's growing in the system."

Clemens is all but set to open the season as the backup to Philip Rivers.

Nick Hardwick
News

"It’s hard and it’s still setting in," he said of missing the rest of the season, per the team's official website. "I have a touch of shock I guess and I don’t really know how I feel right now.  You’re programmed one way and through everything you’ve done you’ve always continued to push forward and push through to find ways to get on the field. Unfortunately for this season it’s not going to happen anymore."
