Mike Purcell
News
The 49ers signed seven players to their practice squad: offensive tackle Carter Bykowski, tight end Asante Cleveland, receiver Lance Lewis, defensive lineman Lawrence Okoye, nose tackle Mike Purcell and linebackers Shayne Skov and Chase Thomas.
NaVorro Bowman
News
49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman began the sprinting portion of his ACL rehab this week, NFL.com reports.

"I must admit there's times when I look out of my peripheral vision and see them doing their workouts on the turf over there," head coach Jim Harbaugh said Friday. "It looked like he was moving pretty good, so that's very positive."

On the PUP while continuing to recover from his knee injury, Bowman may be able to return by Week 7 if his rehab continues to go smoothly. The 49ers play a tough road game in Denver that week. The team does have a bye the following week, so it may make sense to hold the All-Pro linebacker out until Week 9 if he's not 100 percent after his mandatory six weeks on PUP are up.

Craig Dahl
News
Safety Craig Dahl agreed to a pay cut that creates $600,000 in cap space for the 49ers, reports CSNBayArea.com. Dahl still could compete for a starting job if Donte Whitner leaves via free agency.

The 49ers made several moves to trim the roster to 75 players Monday.

The team waived quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson, safety D.J. Campbell, tight end Kevin Greene, running back Jewel Hampton, punt Colton Schmidt, linebacker Kion Wilson and wide receiver Devon Wylie, while also releasing wide receiver David Reed.

The team placed running back Marcus Lattimore, fullback Trey Millard, cornerback Keith Reaser and guard Brandon Thomas on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury List and linebacker NaVorro Bowman, tight end Garrett Celek and defensive tackle Kaleb Ramsey were placed on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform List. Linebacker Blake Costanzo was released from the Injured Reserve list.

News
The 49ers signed seven players to their practice squad: offensive tackle Carter Bykowski, tight end Asante Cleveland, receiver Lance Lewis, defensive lineman Lawrence Okoye, nose tackle Mike Purcell and linebackers Shayne Skov and Chase Thomas.
Steve Johnson
News
San Francisco wide receiver Steve Johnson picked up two catches Sunday against the Cowboys.

Johnson wasn't a big part of the team's game plan, but made the most of his opportunities. He gained 33 yards on his two receptions, including a 21-yard catch. Johnson didn't make his first catch until late in the second quarter.

He'll take on the Bears Week 2.

Brandon Lloyd
News
49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters he expects wide receiver Brandon Lloyd to be healthy enough to play Week 1 against the Cowboys, the Bay Area News Group. Lloyd has been nursing a leg injury since training camp.
Anquan Boldin
News
San Francisco wide receiver Anquan Boldin led the way Week 1 against the Cowboys.

Boldin proved to be Colin Kaepernick's favorite target. He caught eight balls for 99 yards during the game. He led the club with nine targets. While Boldin isn't thought of as a big-play receiver, he had the team's longest play of the game, picking up a 37 yard reception in the first quarter.

With the 49ers up by 25, Boldin didn't get many chances during the second half. Boldin had just three catches for 25 yards after halftime. Boldin also managed to come up with an onside kick recovery late in the game.

Boldin will take on the Bears Week 2.

Joe Staley
News
The 49ers announced Thursday they have signed left tackle Joe Staley to a two-year contract extension through the 2019 season.

Lance Lewis
News
The 49ers signed seven players to their practice squad: offensive tackle Carter Bykowski, tight end Asante Cleveland, receiver Lance Lewis, defensive lineman Lawrence Okoye, nose tackle Mike Purcell and linebackers Shayne Skov and Chase Thomas.
Jonathan Martin
News
The loss of Anthony Davis to a hamstring injury will likely result in Jonathan Martin take over at right tackle for the 49ers against Dallas on Sunday.

Martin who was acquired for a conditional seventh-round pick from Miami in the offseason, would be making his first appearance on an NFL field since Oct. 27, after which he left the Dolphins in the midst of a bullying scandal.

"I want to go out there and play a good game, you know," Martin told the team website, which is claiming that Martin improved as the preseason progressed. "Get off on the right foot, start the season right. Anthony is still the starter, but I'm going to play my best. I've started before in this league, so I'm confident in my ability and I'm excited to get it going."

News
San Francisco tight end Vance McDonald and cornerback Chris Culliver are ready to go Week 1 against the Cowboys.

Both players were listed as probable on the injury report, so the news shouldn't come as a surprise. McDonald is dealing with a hamstring injury. Culliver has an ankle issue.

Kendall Hunter
News
49ers running back Kendall Hunter (knee) went unclaimed on waivers, so he reverted to injured reserve Tuesday. He will miss the 2014 season due to a torn ACL.

Phil Dawson
News
San Francisco kicker Phil Dawson missed his only field goal attempt Sunday against the Cowboys.

Dawson made all four of his extra point attempts, but had trouble from a distance. Dawson had his only chance in the fourth quarter. He missed wide left from 37 yards out.

Dawson will take on the Bears Week 2.

Corey Lemonier
News
The 49ers DST forced four turnovers for a second straight week and posted its third consecutive dominant performance in the Week 6 win over Arizona. San Francisco's defense also scored for the second straight week, this time on a safety by rookie linebacker Corey Lemonier.

Safety Eric Reid had an interception and a fumble recovery. Corner Carlos Rogers picked off Carson Palmer, too, and linebacker NaVorro Bowman recovered a fumble.

San Francisco gave up 403 total yards and allowed 5.2 yards per carry, but compensated with a slew of big plays. The 49ers DST has a good chance to stay  hot in Week 7 at Tennessee.

Carlos Hyde
News
San Francisco running back Carlos Hyde found the end zone in his first NFL game.

Hyde received just seven carries, but was effective. He gained 50 yards, averaging 7.1 yards per carry. With the 49ers up big early, Hyde received more time than initially expected. He responded late in the second quarter with the team close to the goal line. Hyde picked up 13 yards to put the team at the 4 yard line, and then plunged the ball across the goal line for the score.

With the team up late, Hyde mostly split time with Frank Gore in the fourth quarter. He did not factor into the passing game.

Hyde will take on the Bears Week 2.

Frank Gore
News
San Francisco running back Frank Gore got some action, but didn't get into the end zone Week 1 against the Cowboys.

Gore was a victim of circumstance in some ways. The 49ers were incredibly efficient in the passing game, putting 21 points on the board in the first quarter. While that would typically lead to more work from Gore, the team opted to limit his carries with a big lead.

On the team's only other scoring drive, rookie Carlos Hyde vultured a four-yard score from Gore. Hyde and Gore mostly split carries evenly the rest of the way. The Cowboys chewed up a lot of playing time in the second half, so the 49ers opportunities were fairly limited.

Gore finished with 16 carries for 63 yards. He did not catch any passes. Gore will take on the Bears Week 2.

"I’m approaching training camp as a time to compete and get better, and I want to show the coaches I’m getting better every day," Looney said. "Alex Boone is a hell of a player and a hell of a guy, and him being gone is his business. But watching him on film every day, I want to come in and do a hell of a job like he does."

Coach Jim Harbaugh praised Looney's performance so far.

The two connected again on the next drive. After a fumble recovery, Kaepernick threw a touchdown on the first play of the drive. Kaepernick led one more scoring drive against Dallas, but it was capped off by a run from Carlos Hyde.
