News
The Buccaneers announced Tuesday they signed defensive end Ryne Giddins and defensive end James Ruffin. The team also announced it waived (injured) linebacker Jeremy Grable and safety Mycal Swaim.
Lavonte David
News
Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David was the only NFL linebacker to average double-digit tackles per game -- he had 146 stops in 14 games -- but he was not selected to the Pro Bowl.

“He can do it all,” coach Lovie Smith said of David. “I get a chance to see him up close and personal. I’ve seen the linebackers that go to the Pro Bowl, I’ve had a chance to coach them, I know what they look like and that is definitely the case with him.”

David, who also had four forced fumbles and a sack, missed two games with a concussion. If he plays a full season in 2015, David should make next year's Pro Bowl.

Dashon Goldson
News
The Buccaneers have declared five players as questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints including Bobby Rainey (wrist), Solomon Patton (foot), Robert Herron (hip), Isaiah Frey (ankle) and Dashon Goldson (shoulder).

Linebacker Mason Foster is considered doubtful with an Achilles injury after missing practice all this week.

The Bucs are 4-point underdogs at home against the Saints in Week 17.

Johnthan Banks

Linebacker Brandon McGee (knee) is the lone Buccaneers player ruled out for the Sunday game against Minnesota. Cornerback Johnthan Banks (neck) is the only teammate on the Friday injury report not deemed questionable.

That group includes linebacker Jonathan Casillas (hamstring), tackle Anthony Collins (knee), safety Dashon Goldson (ankle), wide receiver Vincent Jackson (rib), quarterback Josh McCown (thumb) and defensive back Keith Tandy (hamstring.

Murphy has 31 catches for 380 yards in his first year in Tampa Bay with two touchdowns.

For his career, Murphy has 152 catches for 2,124 yards and 10 touchdowns, mostly as a member of the Oakland Raiders.

Kadeem Edwards
News
The Buccaneers placed rookie guard Kadeem Edwards on injured reserve with a foot injury, the team announced.
Mike Evans
News
The Buccaneers, who own the first pick in the 2015 NFL draft, obviously could use some help at quarterback after the tandem of Josh McCown and Mike Glennon led Tampa Bay to a 2-14 record in 2014.

It is widely believed the No. 1 pick could either be Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota or Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston. Bucs general manager Jason Licht and coach Lovie Smith attended the Rose Bowl to watch the two quarterbacks square off.

If the Bucs choose to draft a quarterback with the No. 1 pick, then it seems wide receiver Mike Evans, who is coming off a stellar rookie season, would be fine with whoever Tampa Bay adds to the roster.

"My job is to catch the ball and make plays," Evans told FOXSports.com in a telephone interview. "I trust that our front office will do the right thing."

Evans, who totaled 68 receptions for 1,051 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2014, played with former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel at Texas A&M. He gave FOX Sports his scouting report of Winston and Mariota.

"They do different things, but they're both in the spotlight a lot," Evans explained of Winston. "Jameis had legal troubles, where Manziel parties too much, people say. It's still the same though with the off-the-field distractions. They both do a great job of owning the spotlight. Everyone wants to know what they're doing at all times. They're very popular. They're very famous.

"I know Oregon beat Florida State pretty bad, but I like Jameis' game a lot. I like Mariota's game, too. Mariota reminds me a lot of Manziel. A bigger version of course. He won the Heisman. He's a great player. His resume speaks for itself. I think Manziel creates a little more than Mariota. Manziel does some impossible things, but they're very similar.

"And for Jameis he'll stand in that pocket and deliver that ball. They're both great players."

Isaiah Frey
News
Several injured Buccaneers have been placed on the inactive list for the Sunday game against New Orleans, including linebacker Mason Foster (Achilles). Also hurt and out are running back Robert Herron (hip), wide receiver Solomon Patton (foot) and cornerback Isaiah Frey (ankle).

Austin Seferian-Jenkins
News
Buccaneers tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins battled injuries and caught just 21 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie, but "he's expected to be a big part of new coordinator Dirk Koetter's offense," reports the Tampa Tribune.

Seferian-Jenkins went on IR due to back problems, missing the last three games. He also missed two earlier games with an ankle injury. Now he's fully healthy and says he'll participate fully in offseason workouts.

"The back feels great,’’ Seferian-Jenkins said. "It’s feeling awesome -- so much better since the end of the season. By being put on (injured reserve) I got a chance to rest, so it’s feeling great again.

“I really just needed to let my body rest,’’ he added. “Going back to last year, what with the (college) season and the combine training I had to do and all that, I never really got that little break that you need.

“And I was coming off a foot injury on top of that, so this (past month) was the first time in four or five years that I’ve had a chance to get a rest, so I feel so much better right now because of that.”

Michael Johnson was listed as questionable, but should also be able to play.

Adrian Clayborn
News

Clayborn was trying to work through the injury in recent days, having practiced on a limited basis both Wednesday and Thursday. However, the injury proved to be too much for him to keep going, necessitating an IR trip for the second time in three seasons.

Garrett Gilkey
News
Buccaneers center Evan Dietrich-Smith, who missed the Week 13 loss to the Bengals with flu-like symptoms, is healthy again after being sick for a full week, reports ESPN.com. His replacement, Garrett Gilkey, was called for four penalties and made two bad shotgun snaps against Cincy.

Dietrich-Smith will start Sunday at Detroit.

Jacquies Smith
News
Lovie Smith has praised Buccaneers defensive end Jacquies Smith for his emergence as a productive player in recent weeks.

The undrafted free agent, who was cut by Buffalo after Week 1 and has served a stint in the Canadian Football League, has gone from practice squad member to key player in the rotation. He has three sacks in the last three games, including two Sunday against Washington. Smith claims the result should be increased playing time.

"We tell the players always, 'If you get in a few plays and you're productive with those, you'll get more,'" Smith told ESPN. "Kind of simple as that. He has continued to get more plays based on his play. He's come a long way from being cut by the Bills and coming down here and now really being a factor. So it's safe to say that, yes."

Larry English
News

Martin rushed for a season-high 108 yards - his second game of 96 or more in the last three - on 19 attempts. Among his carries was a 45-yard jaunt in which he showed a fine combination of deception and power.

Safety Major Wright (ribs) was ruled out.
