What was rumored is now official. The Titans have signed middle linebacker Wesley Woodyard to a four-year contract for $16 million, per the Denver Post.

The 27-year-old Woodyard will play that position after the Broncos did not allow him to. He lost his starting job at the end of 2013, during which he finished with 84 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks.

The Titans have elevated cornerback Khalid Wooten from the practice squad and placed cornerback Coty Sensabaugh on IR with a foot injury. Sensabaugh has been an occasional starter this season. He tied a season-high with five tackles Sunday against Arizona.

With the release of running back Chris Johnson, the Titans plan a committee approach in 2014, reports The Tennessean. Shonn Greene is "likely to see a big boost in his responsibilities," the report said. "Greene isn't a breakaway threat, but he's proven he can be a workhorse."

Dexter McCluster is expected to get more touches at running back after getting 20 combined carries the past two years in Kansas City. He'll be the primary receiving threat out of the backfield. Jackie Battle is a 6-2, 240-pounder who's see most of his snaps in short-yardage or goal-line situations, the paper said.

The Titans also have Leon Washington and likely will draft a running back, perhaps Auburn's Tre Mason, Arizona's Ka'Deem Carey or Washington's Bishop Sankey, the report said.

The Titans signed defensive lineman Al Woods to a two-year deal Wednesday, ending his two-year run with the Steelers. Woods' contract will pay him $5 million over two years, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Woods is coming off the most productive season of his career, as he played in all 16 games for the first time in four seasons. He picked up 16 tackles and two sacks, the latter of which represents a career-high for the 26-year-old.

Titans wide receiver Kendall Wright added to his solid season in Week 17, in a 16-10 win over the Texans.

Wright was mostly held in check, but the Titans also didn't need much from him. He was targeted seven times in the passing game, hauling in five of those passes for 50 yards, including a long of 34.

Wright broke through the 1,000-yard mark three weeks ago, and will finish the season with 1,079 yards on 94 receptions and two touchdowns.

Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt said second-year receiver Justin Hunter needed to put on "a little more weight" in order to break out in 2014, then added he was just kidding. Hunter is someone Whisenhunt certainly has an eye on as a potential major contributor. 

"I liked Justin coming out last year, so I'm excited to work with him," Whisenhunt said from the NFL Owners Meeting in Orlando. "He made a catch against [the Chargers] at the end of a game [last year]. I hated it at the time but I love it now. He's an interesting young player."

Hunter is indeed interesting -- despite catching just 18 passes last year he had 354 yards (a 19.7 avg.) and four touchdowns.

Titans defensive tackle Sammie Lee Hill has been given the green light for Sunday at Indianapolis with a back injury that had him designated as questionable.

The Titans agreed to a new three-year deal with defensive end Ropati Pitoitua on Thursday, the same day his son, Ryder, was born.

Per The Tennessean, Pitoitua will land $9.6 million over the deal with a $2.175 million signing bonus.

Pitoitua is a run-stopping defensive lineman with the Titans; he's totaled 95 tackles and seven sacks over the last two seasons.

The Titans plan to add a running back in the draft to team with Shonn Greene and Dexter McCluster, and general manager Ruston Webster wants that pick to be an all-around back, reports ESPN.com. Tennessee released Chris Johnson on Friday.

"I think moving forward we're going to look for another back with just some all-around ability, with size and speed, some explosiveness and possibly one that could stay on the field all three downs," Webster said in a radio interview.

Titans cornerback Jason McCourty totaled five tackles (three solo) and one pass defense during a 30-24 overtime loss Week 2 at Houston. He has nine tackles (seven solo) and two pass defenses in two games.

Titans linebacker Colin McCarthy continued his solid play in Week 11, in a 30-27 loss to the Colts. McCarthy led the team with 12 tackles -- 10 solo -- a season-high total.

Despite playing a limited role in the first half, McCarthy still has 47 tackles on the season.

The Titans have agreed to terms on a four-year deal with Ravens offensive lineman Michael Oher on Friday, according to The Tennessean. Oher, who was born in Memphis, Tenn., has spent the first five seasons of his career with the Ravens.

Titans tight end Delanie Walker has defended himself after creating a stir by claiming a group of teammates were "cancers" in 2013. He pointed out that he did not cite any individuals.

"I am not saying it was this dude, this dude or this dude," he told The Tennesseean. "I just threw a number out there. I really don't know. I felt like it was a couple of guys. To be honest, I think people are taking it way too far. There were no fights, guys weren't missing meetings. That stuff wasn't going on. The locker room atmosphere wasn't bad. Everyone came to work and did their part.

"What I am talking about mainly is the attitude after losses. After you lose three straight games, I just felt like there should be more dedication to getting better and we didn't have that sometimes. I felt guys could have worked harder."

The Titans plan to line up new acquisition Dexter McCluster, a receiver and return man, at running back, reports The Tennessean. McCluster carried only 20 times over the past two seasons with the Chiefs, but in 2011 he ran 114 times for 516 yards (4.5 ypc) and a touchdown.

Titans linebacker Derrick Morgan, who had gone four games without recording a sack, got one Week 16 at Jacksonville, giving him five on the year. He also had five tackles, all solo.

Morgan has only 30 tackles on the season.

Linebacker Zaviar Gooden (hamstring) was ruled inactive prior to kickoff due to his injury. Titans receiver Nate Washington and safety Michael Griffin could return to the team in 2014 despite each having a hefty salary, reports the Tennessean.

Griffin is owed $6.2 million in 2014, and Washington is scheduled to earn $4.8 million. Despite that, the report says both are expected back for next season.

Several Titans listed on the injury report are active for their game vs. Arizona, including linebacker Akeem Ayers and cornerback Alterraun Verner, who were questionable with groin injuries.

Defensive end Karl Klug (back), guard Andy Levitre (hip), center Brian Schwenke (ankle), offensive tackle David Stewart (shoulder) and running back Leon Washington (ankle) all will play after being listed as probable.

Little-known Titans receiver Michael Preston came up big in the team's Week 15 loss to Arizona, catching the first two touchdowns of his career. Preston caught three of his five targets for 27 yards, including 10- and 8-yard scoring grabs in the fourth quarter.

Preston's second touchdown came with 10 seconds left in regulation, sending the game to overtime. Preston went undrafted in 2011 out of Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio. He played in the Arena League before signing with Tennessee.

Up to 10 career catches, Preston visits the Jaguars in Week 16.

Though seven Titans defensive players were listed on the injury report for Week 9 against the Rams, the team is mostly healthy in time for kickoff Sunday.

Defensive linemen Ropati Pitoitua (calf), Jurrell Casey (ankle) and Derrick Morgan (shoulder) and linebackers Patrick Bailey (hamstring) and Zaviar Gooden (hamstring) are all active for Sunday despite their injuries.

With the release of running back Chris Johnson, the Titans plan a committee approach in 2014, reports The Tennessean. Shonn Greene is "likely to see a big boost in his responsibilities," the report said. "Greene isn't a breakaway threat, but he's proven he can be a workhorse."

Dexter McCluster is expected to get more touches at running back after getting 20 combined carries the past two years in Kansas City. He'll be the primary receiving threat out of the backfield. Jackie Battle is a 6-2, 240-pounder who's see most of his snaps in short-yardage or goal-line situations, the paper said.

The Titans also have Leon Washington and likely will draft a running back, perhaps Auburn's Tre Mason, Arizona's Ka'Deem Carey or Washington's Bishop Sankey, the report said.

The Titans are quite healthy heading into their season finale against visiting Houston. Only three players appear on their Friday injury report, including defensive tackle Jurrell Casey (knee) and tackle David Stewart (shoulder), who are both questionable. Since neither practiced all week, it has been speculated that they are unlikely to play.

More likely to play is linebacker Zach Brown (illness), who is probable.

On a conference call with New York media, new Jets running back Chris Johnson said the report that he had arthritis in his knee was "not accurate," adding that he was "pretty sure I wouldn't have passed the physical" if he did have it.

Johnson is expected to serve as part of a one-two punch at running back with Chris Ivory for the Jets.
