Free-agent wide receiver Julian Edelman may be staying with the Patriots after all, according to CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora on Friday. Edelman, who turned down a three-year deal earlier this week, is working on a new contract with the Patriots.
Edelman has spent his entire career with the Patriots, recording 174 receptions for 1,770 yards over five seasons. He is still keeping his options open and will visit the 49ers this weekend and will be closely monitored by the Browns.
Former 49ers backup running back Anthony Dixon tweeted Friday that he'll sign a deal with the Bills Saturday morning, per The Buffalo News. Dixon, a free agent, visited the team on Friday before reaching an agreement.
He rushed for 56 yards and two touchdown behind Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter with the Niners.
The Raiderssigned free agent defensive end Antonio Smith on Friday, the team announced. Smith has 41.5 career sacks. He registered posted 50 tackles (27 solo), five sacks, one forced fumble and one pass defensed last season with the Texans.
Former 49ers cornerback Tarell Brownagreed on a deal with the crosstown team, the Raiders, on Friday, according to the 49ers' team website. He signed a one-year, $3.5 million guaranteed deal with Oakland.
For the first time since his rookie season, Brown did not record an interception in 2013. He had 32 tackles and 10 defended passes over 13 games with San Francisco last season.
Browner is set to serve a four-game suspension to start the season. He played just eight games last season with the Seahawks due to the suspension. He finished with 19 tackles and one interception, and has 10 interceptions in 36 career games.
The Titans have agreed to terms on a four-year deal with Ravens offensive lineman Michael Oher on Friday, according to The Tennessean. Oher, who was born in Memphis, Tenn., has spent the first five seasons of his career with the Ravens.
Offensive guard Shelley Smithwill sign a two-year, $5.5 million contract with the Miami Dolphins on Friday. He is expected to earn $1.5 million guaranteed in his deal, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Smith played in 25 games with the Rams the past two seasons, starting eight.
