It's hard to justify letting Jay Cutler have his job back. Bears backup quarterback Josh McCown continued his sterling play with a five-touchdown explosion against the hapless Cowboys on Monday night.
McCown completed 27 of 36 throws (75 percent) for 348 yards and four touchdowns, and he ran for a 7-yard touchdown. He posted a near-perfect 141.9 passer rating and did not commit a turnover.
McCown found Earl Bennett wide open for a 4-yard score on Chicago's opening drive. Right before halftime, McCown lofted a 25-yard pass to the back corner of the end zone. Alshon Jeffery skied between two Cowboys defenders, corralling it for a highlight-reel touchdown.
McCown hit running backs Matt Forte and Michael Bush for second-half scores as Chicago scored on its first eight possessions. McCown has nine touchdowns and two turnovers in his last three starts. Remarkably, the 348 yards were the fewest he's passed for during that stretch.
It's unclear whether McCown will get another start Week 15 at Cleveland, as Cutler appears close to returning from his ankle injury.
Although he's coming off a four-touchdown performance, Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton isn't a surefire Fantasy starter Week 15. Dalton visits the Steelers, and his history vs. Pittsburgh is not encouraging.
In five career meetings, Dalton has completed 53 percent of his throws. He's averaged 194 passing yards with five touchdowns, five interceptions and a 67.8 passer rating. Dalton did play fairly well in Week 2 vs. Pittsburgh, throwing for 280 yards and a touchdown and rushing for 10 yards.
But Dalton's last three road games were ugly: eight turnovers, three touchdowns. The Steelers rank in the middle of the pack in defending Fantasy quarterbacks; they're capable of eliciting the "bad" Dalton.
Dalton has been up and down all season. With Fantasy playoffs on the line, place your trust elsewhere if possible.
Report: Adrian Peterson not expected to play Week 15
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
While Vikings running back Adrian Peterson said he expects to play Week 15 vs. the Eagles, ESPN.com reports Peterson is unlikely to suit up due to his foot injury. The report, however, says Peterson won't need surgery.
Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes "should miss a few weeks" with the ankle injury he suffered in the fourth quarter of the Week 14 loss at Baltimore, reports NFL Network. Rhodes has 48 tackles and a forced fumble this season.
Three Bears who were on the injury report are active Monday night vs. Dallas: offensive tackle Kyle Long (ankle), safety Major Wright (hamstring) and safety Anthony Walters (groin). Long and Wright were listed as probable, while Walters was questionable.
Several important Cowboys who were on the injury report are active for Monday's game in Chicago. They include linebacker Sean Lee (hamstring), the second-leading tackler, defensive tackle Jason Hatcher (neck), receiver Dwayne Harris (hamstring) and tight end Gavin Escobar (hamstring).
Lee missed the previous two games and he should help Dallas' beleaguered run defense.
The Cowboys listed seven players as inactive for Week 14 at Chicago: linebacker Justin Durant (hamstring), linebacker DeVonte Holloman (neck), cornerback Morris Claiborne (hamstring), offensive tackle Darrion Weems, defensive end Everette Brown, linebacker Orie Lemon and defensive back Jakar Hamilton.
