Cowboys hope to make push to sign WR Dez Bryant long-term
Though contract talks have stalled recently, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said he is confident a deal can be agreed upon before the looming deadline.
“We know he will be a Cowboy this year,” Jones said. “If he ends up playing this year under the tag we will go right back to work again next year. Now would we like to get a long term deal on him? Of course we would. We’ll work hard to do that and I’m sure we’ll make a push at some point and see if we can make it work. If not, hopefully he will understand it’s difficult to make a deal at this point and he’ll come in and get ready to play.”
Bryant has been participating in drills during organized team activities despite the not having a deal signed. He caught 88 passes for 1,320 yards and 16 touchdowns last season.
Ravens DE Timmy Jernigan: 'I want to go to the Pro Bowl'
“I want to go to the Pro Bowl. I’m not even going to sit here and lie to you,” Jernigan said. “I definitely want to win more games. That’s first. You definitely want to win more games, help the defense get even better.”
Last year's second-round pick learned a lot from real playing time during his rookie season. it was him who filled in for Haloti Ngata when he was suspended four games last season, something he thinks prepared him a lot for this season.
“I learned a lot,” Jernigan said. “I definitely feel comfortable picking up where I left off last year. I feel really good and everything is starting to seem second nature to me. The biggest thing now is to keep it going and build on top of what I did last year.
“You can’t get complacent with what you did and feel comfortable with where you’re at. I’m just trying to take it to the next level.”
Jernigan recorded 23 tackles and four sacks in 12 games last season.
Redskins OT Trent Williams (ankle) eyeing training camp return
Williams hurt the ankle during the last year's final game. He adjusted his offseason training to accommodate and rehab the injury but when the soreness continued it was discovered the injury was slightly more serious than anticipated.
“It’s been an ongoing thing and my mindset was to get it 100 percent before we go into camp,” Williams said. “Obviously, didn’t want any setbacks in OTAs. I want it 100 percent so I can put it behind me and give my team the best.
“We got it pinpointed to what exactly it is. It’s encouraging that we’ve got the right plan,” Williams added. “Training camp is probably the most vital thing that I need to be ready for.”

Redskins WR DeSean Jackson returns to OTA's, explains time missed
Jackson explained he missed all of last week because of personal issues he had to tend to and that he communicated with his coaches why he would miss the time.
“I had personal things I had to do back home,” Jackson said. “I’m a veteran in this league, going on my eighth year. Communication with my head coach and the guys here, they knew about it. Like I said, I had things I had to do, I was obligated to do back home in California. I’m here now, and I’m happy to be here with my teammates, and they’ve been putting in some great work, so I’m just trying to catch up and get back in the swing of things. But I had things I had to handle.”
Jackson, who led the team with 1,169 receiving yards and six touchdowns last year, said he was not phased by the time missed, and that his familiarity with the offense would help him bounce right back into the flow of things.
“I’m very familiar with the offense, the system, so it’s not like I have to re-learn something that I already know. I came back, I’m in the flow of things. I’m still starting wide receiver on this team. I’m just happy to be here, happy to be putting the work in and being around the fellows again.”
