Steelers defensive back Troy Polamalu ended a five-game drought Sunday, as he picked off his second pass of the season in a 34-28 loss to the Dolphins in Week 14. He also showed that he can still make a big play happen, as he was able to return the interception 19 yards for a touchdown, his first of the season. He added one tackle in the loss.
Polamalu has remained healthy this season, and now has 56 tackles and two interceptions in 13 games.
On a snowy day in Washington, Chiefs kicker Ryan Succop was less than perfect, missing a 34-yard field goal in the third quarter. He did hit a 33-yarder in the first quarter, though, and also contributed a season-high six extra points. The nine points were the most he's had in four games.
The Chargers enjoyed a solid performance against Eli Manning and the Giants in Week 14.
Manning threw for 259 yards and a touchdown, but was picked off twice. Shareece Wright and Donald Butler each came down with their first interception of the season. The Chargers also recovered a fumble, finishing with three takeaways in the game. San Diego also sacked Manning twice and allowed 333 yards of total offense in a 37-14 victory.
San Diego will travel to Denver for a Week 14 showdown against the Broncos on Thursday night.
Tight end Sean McGrath, running back Cyrus Gray and wide receiver Junior Hemingway all made minor contributions for the Chiefs Week 14 at Washington. McGrath caught two passes for 20 yards. Gray ran three times for 8 yards. Hemingway caught one pass for 11 yards.
Of the three, McGrath is the most regular contributor on offense. He now has 23 catches on the season. He was targeted three times in Sunday's game.
The Giants had no answer for the aerial attack during Sunday's loss to the Chargers in Week 14.
Philip Rivers gashed New York's defense for 249 yards and three touchdown passes, including two to rookie Keenan Allen, who missed some time in the first half with a shoulder injury. New York allowed 333 yards of total offense in a 37-14 defeat.
Things may not get any better for the Giants as they'll host the Seahawks in Week 15.
Steelers linebacker Cameron Heyward led the team in tackles Sunday, in a 34-28 loss to the Dolphins in Week 14. Heyward racked up nine stops -- six solo -- one of which went for a sack, his third in five games.
Heyward has come on strong lately, and now has 46 tackles and four sacks on the season, both of which are personal bests.
With his team leading 45-10, backup quarterback Chase Daniel took most of the fourth-quarter snaps for the Chiefs Week 14 at Washington. He didn't have a particularly strong showing, throwing an interception. He finished 1 for 3 for 17 yards and kneeled three times on the team's final drive for minus-3 rushing yards.
The pass attempts were Daniel's first of the season.
The 49ers enjoyed a solid performance defensively against the Seahawks in Week 14.
San Francisco forced two sacks on Russell Wilson and picked him off once. Eric Wright came down with the interception for the team's only turnover of the day. The 49ers allowed 264 yards of total offense in a 19-17 victory.
The 49ers will look to keep rolling in Week 15 against the Buccaneers.
