Pierre Thomas still Fantasy relevant
Thomas was the No. 23 running back in standard leagues in 2013, and he led all running backs with 77 catches. Now that Darren Sproles is expected to be released, Thomas could be even more of a factor in the passing game.
Sproles was fourth among running backs with 71 receptions, and Thomas will almost excusively play on passing downs for the Saints over Khiry Robinson and Mark Ingram. Don't go overboard and expect 100-plus catches for Thomas, but he should have the chance for 80-plus based on Sean Payton's offense.
Along with Thomas' rushing totals -- he's had 100-plus carries for three consecutive seasons -- he should be able to replicate last year's 1,000-total yard campaign with five touchdowns. He makes for a solid No. 3 Fantasy running back in standard leagues and a low-end No. 2 option in PPR formats.
And if Robinson or Ingram fail to deliver on rushing downs, then Thomas could be a nice steal with a mid- to late-round pick.
