Eric Decker might be Jets' No. 1 WR, but he won't be in Fantasy
The past two seasons have been great for
Let's start with the obvious: Decker won't have Peyton Manning throwing him passes anymore. Now it'll be at the very worst Geno Smith and at the very best a free agent like Michael Vick. That's a huge step down. As you'll read in some analysis coming to the site soon, I credit Manning with helping Decker put up big numbers. Playing in a strong offense opposite Demaryius Thomas doesn't hurt things either.
In that same analysis you'll see that I'm not a huge fan of Decker's game. In short, his best quality is his size but he doesn't always use it to his advantage. He also doesn't have speed or hands worthy of a $15 million signing bonus.
Every year we see big-name receivers change teams via free agency and most of the time they struggle to meet expectations. My expectations for Decker in 2014 are for maybe 1,000 yards but well under 11 touchdowns -- maybe six. I'd consider him a borderline No. 2/No. 3 Fantasy wideout.
Redskins trying to make a deal for Darren Sproles
Sproles had 124 touches for 824 yards and four touchdowns last year, numbers that paled in comparison to his previous seasons' work with New Orleans. He's due over $3 million in 2014.
Panthers targeting Hakeem Nicks?
Nicks dealt with a number of foot injuries including a broken foot in the spring of 2012. He caught 56 passes for 896 yards and no touchdowns in 15 games last year for the
Nicks not only went to the University of North Carolina for college but also was born and raised in Charlotte, attending Independence High School.
Steve Smith's release reportedly happening Thursday
A league source says the
Smith was viewed as a "distraction" inside the organization after underwhelming last year. He caught 64 passes for 745 yards and four touchdowns, numbers that tumbled for the third consecutive year. Smith had 17 plays of 20-plus yards in 2012 but just four in 2013. His longest catch was for 44 yards.
There is already speculation via ESPN that the

Jets announce Eric Decker signing
Decker is coming off consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, though he was working as a second option in an offense headed by a future Hall of Fame quarterback. He will step into the No. 1 role for the Jets having put up 172 receptions, 2,352 yards and 24 touchdowns over the previous two seasons combined.
Report: After failed physical, Rodger Saffold to return to St. Louis
Just minutes after the
The Raiders' deal with Saffold fell apart over concerned about the health of Saffold's shoulder, after he could not pass a physical. The Rams reportedly have no concerns about the injury, however, and will bring Saffold back to where he spent the first four seasons of his career.
Saffold has struggled with injuries throughout his career, with his rookie season in 2010 representing his lone 16-game season. He has played 31 of a possible 48 games over the last three seasons.
