Jaguars defensive end Jason Babin voided the final two years of his contract to become a free agent, reports ESPN's John Clayton. Babin, who was scheduled to earn $6 million each of the next two seasons, could return to the team at a lower price.
The Steelers are waiting to hear if cornerback Ike Taylor will take a pay cut to stay with the team, reports CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora. Taylor is scheduled to earn $7 million and count nearly $12 million against the cap this year.
Free agent offensive lineman Rodger Saffold will leave the Rams in free agency, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The Rams made a bid to retain Saffold, who can play tackle and guard, but it's clear he's going to make more money elsewhere, the report said.
The Raiders and Buccaneers have been mentioned as potential landing spots.
The Buccaneers appear poised to land free agent offensive tackle Anthony Collins if he does not re-sign with the Bengals, reports SportsTalkFlorida.com. Collins started seven games last season and conceivably could replace Bucs left tackle Donald Penn, who's owed $8 million in 2014.
Texans tight end Owen Daniels, who's owed $4.5 million this year, said he's open to restructuring his contract, reports CSNHouston.com. Daniels added he's fully recovered from the broken leg he suffered last season.
Free agent tight end Brandon Pettigrew is a "viable option" for the Giants, reports the New York Daily News. The team is looking for a tight end who's a capable receiver and powerful blocker, and also is interested in Andrew Quarless, the report said.
Pettigrew caught 41 passes for 416 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games with the Lions last year.
