Ravens WR Steve Smith (back) ruled out for Week 5
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith (back) has been ruled out for Week 5's game against the Cleveland Browns , ESPN's Jamison Hensley reports.
After conflicting reports surfaced earlier on Saturday regarding the severity and type of injury the 36-year-old was suffering from, his status for Week 5 was already dicey at best. Marlon Brown , Kamar Aiken and the newly-acquired Chris Givens will be in line for the majority of the targets with Smith, Michael Campanaro (back) and Breshard Perriman (knee) all out with an assortment of injuries.
Seahawks WR Paul Richardson on track to return as soon as eligible
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Paul Richardson (knee) is on track to return to action when his six weeks on the PUP list are up, Pro Football Talk reports.
While Richardson has as much talent as any of the other receivers on the Seahawks' roster, it is not easy for receivers to emerge as viable fantasy threats in Seattle, given the diversity of the offense.
Giants promote TE Wil Tye to active roster
New York Giants tight end Wil Tye has been promoted from the practice squad Saturday, the New York Daily News reports.
With Daniel Fells and Jerome Cunningham unable to travel with the team to Buffalo, Tye was signed to provide some depth at tight end, however he will need a glut of targets to become fantasy relevant.
Giants tight end Daniel Fells did not travel with team
New York Giants tight end Daniel Fells (ankle) did not travel with the team to Buffalo Bulls and is likely out for Sunday's game, Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports.
With Fells likely inactive against the Buffalo Bills , Larry Donnell could see a boost in targets in what should be a high-volume passing game for the Giants. With backup tight end Jerome Cunningham also unable to travel with the team, New York was forced to call up Will Tye from the practice squad, however it's unlikely he will cut into Donnell's opportunities come Sunday.
Packers WR Jared Abbrederis promoted from practice squad
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jared Abbrederis was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, ESPN's Field Yates reports.
Davante Adams is doubtful for Sunday's game in San Francisco, leaving the team very thin at wide receiver. Abbrederis will serve as the fifth receiver on the depth chart Sunday.
Chargers running back Donald Brown released Saturday
Running back Donald Brown was released by the San Diego Chargers on Saturday, ESPN's Adam Caplan reports.
The Chargers would apparently like to re-sign Brown Bears next week, but they needed an offensive lineman and Brown is not subject to waivers. Dreamius Smith is now the team's No. 4 running back.
Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy unlikely to play Monday
Detroit Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy (hip) is doubtful for Monday's game, DetroitLions.com's Tim Twentyman reports.
He returned to practice this week, but he is apparently not yet ready to return to game action. This will be the fourth straight game that the All-Pro linebacker misses due to the hip injury. Josh Bynes will start Monday in Levy's place.
Cardinals shortstop Jhonny Peralta not in Saturday's lineup
St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Jhonny Peralta is not in the lineup Saturday against the Braves. That's now back-to-back games Peralta has been absent from the lineup as the Cardinals seem content saving their 33-year-old shortstop for the postseason. Greg Garcia will get the start in his place and hit second in the lineup against the Atlanta Braves ' righty Shelby Miller .
Seahawks TE Like Wilson (back) listed as probable for Monday's game
Seattle Seahawks tight end Luke Willson (back) is listed as probable for Monday's game against the Detroit Lions . He was inactive for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears , but it sounds like he will be available Monday. That said, it's hard to expect Willson to see enough snaps or get enough targets to be useful in most formats.
