Player News
Ondrej Pavelec
Jets' Pavelec Will Man Net Friday
Ondrej Pavelec, G, WPG
9:18 AM
News: The Jets will stick with Ondrej Pavelec in goal Friday against the Lightning, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec snapped a three-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over the Hurricanes on Tuesday, improving his season ratios (2.32 GAA, .913 save percentage) in the process. Though he has a middling 2-3-0 record on the season, Pavelec strong performance in the net and coach Paul Maurice's distrust of backup Michael Hutchinson should continue to give him plenty of security in his role as the Jets' No. 1 netminder.

Kevan Miller
Bruins' Miller Still Sidelined
Kevan Miller, D, BOS
9:11 AM
News: GM Peter Chiarelli indicated Friday that Kevan Miller (dislocated right shoulder) is progressing.
Analysis: That said, there is no timetable yet for Kevan Miller's return to action and with Zdeno Chara out 4-6 weeks with a knee injury, the Bruins have added blue line depth by recalling Joe Morrow and Zach Trotman from AHL Providence.

Joe Morrow
Morrow Recalled By Bruins
Joe Morrow, D, BOS
9:07 AM
News: The Bruins have recalled Joe Morrow from AHL Providence on an emergency basis, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Zach Trotman was also recalled Friday, with the moves made to add depth to the Bruins' blue line in the wake of injuries to Kevan Miller and Zdeno Chara. In five games with Providence to date, the 21-year-old Joe Morrow has recorded a goal and an assist. In the short-term, a wait-and-see approach is in order from a fantasy perspective, but in general, the 2011 first-rounder -- who could make his regular season debut with the Bruins as soon as Saturday -- projects as a mobile two-way blueliner for the team.

Michael Blunden
Lightnig Assign Blunden To AHL Syracuse
Michael Blunden, RW, TB
9:05 AM
News: The Lightning assigned Michael Blunden to AHL Syracuse on Friday, Erid Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Michael Blunden was sent down to open a roster spot for Cedric Paquette. Blunden has 103 NHL games under his belt, so he could be called up again at some point later this season.

Zac Rinaldo
Flyers' Rinaldo Considered Day-to-Day
Zac Rinaldo, C, PHI
9:03 AM
News: Zac Rinaldo (upper body) did not practice Friday, CSN's Sarah Baicker reports.
Analysis: Zac Rinaldo will be held out due to the upper body injury he suffered in Wednesday's game. He is considered day-to-day, so it seems there is a chance he will play in the Flyers' next game Saturday against the Red Wings.

Pascal Dupuis
Pens' Dupuis Tallies First Point Since Injury
Pascal Dupuis, RW, PIT
8:58 AM
News: Pascal Dupuis potted a goal in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Red Wings.
Analysis: The winger's first-period tally marked his first point in three games since returning from the scary incident last week that resulted in him being stretchered off the ice. Pascal Dupuis has played his usual minutes in the mid-teens since returning to action, and as Thursday's one-goal, four-shot performance revealed, the veteran's health doesn't seem to be a concern.

Zach Trotman
Bruins Recall Trotman
Zach Trotman, D, BOS
8:57 AM
News: The Bruins have recalled Zach Trotman from AHL Providence on an emergency basis, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Fellow defenseman Joe Morrow was also recalled, with the moves made to add depth to the Bruins' blue line in the wake of injuries to Kevan Miller and Zdeno Chara. The 6-3 219-pound Zach Trotman, who suited up for two games with the big club last season, has recorded one assist in five games with Providence to date. He's off the fantasy radar in all but the deepest of formats, but as a result of the Bruins' recent injuries, Trotman and/or Morrow will be pressed into action in the coming days, beginning with Saturday's game against Toronto.

Cedric Paquette
Lightning Recall Paquette
Cedric Paquette, C, TB
8:57 AM
News: The Lightning recalled Cedric Paquette from AHL Syracuse on Friday, Erik Erlendsson of The Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Cedric Paquette was called up to provide some depth with Ryan Callahan and Alex Killorn dealing with injuries. Paquette has tallied three goals, two assists, and seven PIM through four games with Syracuse this season.

Zdeno Chara
Bruins Confirm PCL Tear For Chara
Zdeno Chara, D, BOS
8:48 AM
News: The Bruins confirmed Friday that Zdeno Chara suffered a PCL tear in his left knee Thursday against the Islanders, Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com reports. Chara will miss four-to-six weeks and will not require surgery.
Analysis: Friday's update verifies the initial recovery timetable indicated a day earlier for Zdeno Chara, who left the game against the Islanders after colliding with John Tavares midway through the first period. The absence of Chara is a devastating hit to a team that had been struggling defensively through the first three weeks of the season. The Bruins recalled Zach Trotman and Joe Morrow from AHL Providence on Friday to add some depth to the blue line in the interim.

Cal Clutterbuck
Isles' Clutterbuck Bags First Goal
Cal Clutterbuck, RW, NYI
8:44 AM
News: Cal Clutterbuck collected his first goal of the season in Thursday's win over the Bruins. It went down as the game-winner in the 3-2 victory.
Analysis: Cal Clutterbuck notched four hits defensively during the evening to bring his season total to 21, good for second on the team. The bottom-six forward should remain an asset in that category for the duration of the season, but don't expect him to contribute on the offensive end with much frequency.
