News: Andrei Loktionov will face his former team Saturday when the Hurricanes visit the Devils. Analysis: Same colors, different team. This will be Andrei Loktionov's second game with Carolina after coming over earlier this week in exchange for Tuomo Ruutu and a conditional third-round pick. The Russian spent most of his time centering the third line between Pat Dwyer and Nathan Gerbe in his first game with the Canes on Friday, but the real story was the 4:04 of man advantage time he received. For a guy who normally averages 0:33 per game on the PP, he could be thrust into fantasy relevance if the power-play time keeps up. We wouldn`t count on it, however, since the Canes are dealing with an 0-for-25 slump on the man advantage and this was likely an experiment by coach Kirk Muller to jumpstart his offense. Look for him to be motivated Saturday against his ex-teammates.
News: Mark Giordano suffered a gash during a first-period fight with Vancouver's Kevin Bieksa on Saturday night. He received medical attention in the locker room, then returned to action, firing seven shots on goal in 24 shifts on the night. Analysis: Fear thee not; he should be back in the lineup when the Flames travel to Los Angeles to face the Kings on Monday.
News: Eddie Lack gave up a soft goal early in the second period Saturday against Calgary, but was solid the rest of the way as the Canucks rallied to win, 2-1. It's the team's first win in five games. Analysis: This is a nice bounce-back victory for Eddie Lack, who's now firmly in the No. 1 netminder's seat with the trade of veteran Roberto Luongo.
News: Yannick Weber scored the game-winning goal in the third period of Saturday's game against Calgary. Analysis: Offensive production emphatically is not the norm for this stay-at-home defenseman, who has just three goals and three assists in 34 appearances this season.
News: Darren Archibald scored his first NHL goal in Saturday's 2-1 win over Calgary. Analysis: We always enjoy noting occasions like this, but don't expect bushels of scoring from Darren Archibald, who's at best a temporary fill-in for injured star Daniel Sedin. Archibald hasn't proven that he can put up significant offense above the ECHL level.
News: Darcy Kuemper made 34 saves in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Dallas. Analysis: He couldn't hold off an inspired Dallas team who turned up the heat after Eric Haula injured their goalie Kari Lehtonen in an avoidable crease collision. Still, he's proving to be a solid NHL starter with a bit of additional upside. Use well.
News: Tim Thomas made his Dallas debut Saturday when starter Kari Lehtonen left the game after an injury from a crease collision. Thomas stopped all six shots he faced and helped key a comeback for the win. Analysis: He could be in line for a lot more work -- Lehtonen hit his head twice in the collision, once helmet on mask and the second head on crossbar after his mask was knocked off. The team in Texas is better than the Floridian kitties, so Tim Thomas may be a solid source of fantasy goodness over the next couple weeks.
News: Tyler Seguin's hot hand continued Saturday night with a goal and two assists in a 4-3 win over the Wild. He has eight points, including four goals, in his last two games. Analysis: The goal and one of the assists came the power play. The goal also matches his career mark (29) and the points put him hot on the tail of the top-five scorers in the NHL. He's gold; use him accordingly.
News: Pekka Rinne made 35 saves in a 1-0 loss to Columbus on Saturday night. It was his third consecutive start since returning from injury. Analysis: He looked strong, but he can't do it all -- someone from that team needs to look up 'goal' on Wikipedia. Pekka Rinne will give you GAA and save percentage support, but wins may continue to be hard to find.
News: Sergei Bobrovsky made 28 saves Saturday in a 1-0 win over Nashville. He's now 4-2 in six games since the Olympic break. Analysis: His game is coming together -- make sure you take full advantage.
