News: Mike Fisher factored into all the Nashville offense Thursday, picking up a goal and an assist in a 4-2 loss to the Wild. Analysis: Mike Fisher's been a scoresheet regular of late, with seven points in his last eight games, but that's nothing new -- he's been producing offense at a terrifically steady rate since returning from the Achilles' heel injury that kept him out of action in the season's early months.
News: Erik Haula finished with a goal, an assist and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's win over the Preds. Analysis: The Finnish forward had gone five games without a point and had just a lonely goal in his last 15 games. He's got little to no fantasy value right now, but Erik Haula has been a successful scorer at the University of Minnesota and AHL Iowa, so he does have long-term upside.
News: Kyle Brodziak notched a goal, an assist and a plus-3 rating Thursday in a win over the Predators. Analysis: Kyle Brodziak had managed all of three points in his prior 17 games, so this qualifies as an outlier. His middling PIM and hit totals give him some value in super-deep leagues, but that's about it.
News: Kevin Connauton (foot) is not practicing Friday, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports. Analysis: Connaution is in danger of missing Saturday's game against the Devils, after sitting out Thursday's game against the Canadiens. He took a puck off his foot during Tuesday's loss to the Sabres.
News: Brandon Dubinsky (upper body) is participating in Friday's practice, Rob Mixer of NHL.com reports. Analysis: Brandon Dubinsky left Thursday's game against the Canadiens after logging just 0:50 of ice time, though he did still manage to find the back of the net. His participation in Friday's practice indicates that he may be able to make a quick return for Saturday's game against the Devils.
News: Tyson Strachan (illness) was back at practice Friday, reports John Vogl of The Buffalo News. Analysis: Tyson Strachan thus seems like a good bet to suit up for Saturday's game against the Panthers. He missed the previous three games.
News: Martin Erat picked up an assist on the power play Thursday in a 4-3 loss to the Rangers. He added one shot, four hits, and two blocks in the game. Analysis: Martin Erat has been a passable depth forward for the Coyotes this year with 28 points in 60 games. It will be interesting to see if the pending UFA has done enough to play his way onto another team at the trade deadline.
News: Sergei Gonchar (upper body) will likely be back in the lineup for Saturday's game against Toronto, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. Analysis: The decision to demote Jarred Tinordi to AHL Hamilton indicates that Sergei Gonchar is finally ready to return from the injury that has held him out since Feb. 14.
News: John Moore was credited with an assist in the second period of Thursday's 4-3 win over Arizona. Analysis: The point snaps an 11-game point-scoring drought for the defenseman, who has seen his fair share of time in the press box this campaign. While incumbent defenseman Matt Hunwick is dealing with a drought of his own, Hunwick's production has been slightly better (eight points in 40 games) than that of John Moore's five points through 37 games. With the trade deadline approaching and the organization clearly in buyer's mode, for good or ill, this situation could possibly look very different by this time next week.
News: Oliver Ekman-Larsson had an assist on the power play Thursday in a 4-3 loss to the Rangers. He was plus-1, took two shots, and added two hits and a block on the night. Analysis: The assist ends a mini three-game slump for the young blueliner. OEL's plus/minus is a drag, but otherwise he is having a solid season. He is on pace for just over 40 points, while leading defensemen in goals; he has already set a new career high in shots with a new mark in hits likely to come; and, he remains a strong power play contributor. The Coyotes' rebuild could suppress his stats a bit in coming years, but that will hurt more in real life. At 23 years old, he is a stud defenseman for fantasy, regardless.
