News: Patrick Maroon scored his ninth of the season Thursday night against the Bruins. Analysis: A nifty little move allowed Patrick Maroon to get open and fire a shot past Bruins' goalie Tuukka Rask. He's only managed 33 points on the season, but he remains part of a whole host of Ducks who are hanging around the outer region of fantasy relevance.
News: Corey Perry scored in the last minute of the third to send Thursday's game against the Bruins to overtime. Analysis: He struggled throughout the early part of March with just four points in the first nine games, but has bounced back nicely with four goals and an assist in his last five. Corey Perry is heating up at just the right time for the Ducks.
News: John Moore picked up an assist on the power play Thursday in a 4-3 overtime win over Buffalo. He was minus-1and took six shots in the contest. Analysis: John Moore has significantly increased his point production since joining Arizona with four of his 12 points on the season coming in the 12 games he has played since being traded. The transition from the Stanley Cup contender Rangers to the lowly Coyotes can be seen most clearly in his plus/minus, which has gone from a healthy plus-9 in New York to a minus-7 in the desert. That is also a function of the four extra minutes per night he is playing since the trade, which is a good test for whether Moore can be a top four defensemen in the NHL long-term. He is someone to keep an eye on in dynasty and keeper leagues as the season comes down to its final couple of weeks.
News: Brenden Morrow is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, The Tampa Tribune reports. Analysis: Brenden Morrow was scratched from Thursday's game against the Predators, but he wasn't initially listed with an injury. It may just be that he's dealing with a minor ailment and wouldn't have been in the lineup even if healthy.
News: Teuvo Teravainen practiced on Thursday on the line with Bryan Bickell and Antoine Vermette and is expected to be in the lineup on Friday, ESPN Chicago reports. Analysis: Both Teuvo Teravainen and Bickell were healthy scratches on Wednesday against Philadelphia, but both appear headed to skate against Columbus. In addition both Joakim Nordstrom and Daniel Carcillo suffered upper-body injuries so the Blackhawks have fewer options for Friday. Even if both Nordstrom and Carcillo were not injured, Teravainen probably was going to skate against the Blue Jackets.
News: Andrew Hammond and Senators coach Dave Cameron both acknowledged that the goaltender is dealing with a minor ailment, the Ottawa Citizen reports. Analysis: The report suggests it's a lower-body injury, but it seems Andrew Hammond still has a pretty good chance to start Saturday's game in Toronto. He was pulled from Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Rangers, after surrendering five goals on just 22 shots. It was the first regulation loss of Hammond's career.
News: Martin Erat picked up an assist Thursday in a 4-3 overtime win over the Sabres. He was plus-2 with three shots on the night. Analysis: Martin Erat has reached the 30-point plateau for the first time since 2010-11. The decline in his production over the past couple of years has been stark and the veteran winger's best fantasy days are in the past, but he has at least ensured his playing days aren't over and is an option in deep leagues again.
News: Dmitry Orlov (wrist) was reassigned to AHL Hershey for a conditioning assignment Friday. Analysis: The Capitals plan to re-evaluate Dmitry Orlov after he plays three games for AHL Hershey, but it's not clear that there's a place in the lineup for the 23-year-old blueliner. He should at least provide injury depth in the playoffs, and could emerge as an interesting target next season.
News: Marc Staal was a plus-1 in Thursday's win over Ottawa. Analysis: Although Marc Staal (one assist in his last 11 games) hasn't had much of an impact to fantasy owners in quite some time, surely this comes as a relief to his teammates and coaching staff. After missing practice on Wednesday with what was labeled as a maintenance day and not participating in Thursday's optional practice it's good for everyone to see the 28-year-old stay at home defenseman return to his 21-plus minutes of ice time a game.
News: Brian Ferlin was reassigned to AHL Providence on Friday, ESPN Boston's Joey McDonald reports. Analysis: The Bruins are in good health at the forward spots, which left Brian Ferlin without a place in the lineup the past two games.
