Player News
Calvin Pickard
Avs' Pickard Makes 17 Saves For First NHL Win
Calvin Pickard, G, COL
12:54 PM
News: Calvin Pickard stopped all 17 of the shots he faced for his first NHL win Saturday against Carolina.
Analysis: Pikcard didn't start Saturday's game, but was called upon in the first period after starter Reto Berra was pulled. Berra gave up three goals on 10 shots, but Calvin Pickard was able to step in and help the team comeback to defeat the Canes. With the way Berra has struggled this season, there is a chance Pickard could stick with the Avalanche once starter Semyon Varlamov (groin) returns from injury. The 22-year-old youngster is 1-2-0 this season with a respectable .913 save percentage and 2.66 GAA.

Manny Malhotra
Montreal's Malhotra Is Faceoff King
Manny Malhotra, C, MON
7:38 AM
News: Manny Malhotra won 15 of 22 faceoffs in Saturday night's 2-0 win over the Bruins. Thirteen of those wins came in the defensive zone.
Analysis: Manny Malhotra leads the NHL, having won 62 percent of his faceoffs.

Alexei Emelin
Habs' Emelin Picks Up Hitting Pace
Alexei Emelin, D, MON
7:33 AM
News: Alexei Emelin had six hits in Saturday night's win over the Bruins. The Russian defenseman has 12 hits over the past two games.
Analysis: Alexei Emelin, who leads the Canadiens with 61 hits, has doled out 28 over the last six games. He's ramped up the pace of his checking after totaling just 33 in the first 14 games played.

Bryan Allen
Canadiens' Allen Makes Debut
Bryan Allen, D, MON
7:28 AM
News: Bryan Allen made his Montreal debut in Saturday night's win over Boston. He rotated on the third defensive pairing, playing a total of 14:30 in the win.
Analysis: Head coach Michel Therrien has been dressing seven defensemen of late, which has resulted in fewer than normal minutes for all of the blue-liners. That's something that can pay dividends over the long haul for older rear-guards like Sergei Gonchar (17:28) and Anrei Markov (18:44).

Bobby Ryan
Sens' Ryan Heating Up
Bobby Ryan, RW, OTT
7:01 AM
News: Bobby Ryan grabbed an assist in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the visiting Blues. He now has points in four straight games.
Analysis: Bobby Ryan has provided some much needed consistency for the Sens -- and fantasy owners -- of late, notching six points over the last seven games. Also, he's only posted one multi-point outing so far through the quarter pole of the season and his shooting percentage (10.9 percent) sits nearly three points below his career mark of 13.7, so there's room for growth for the former 35-goal scorer.

Stephen Weiss
Wings' Weiss Scores Twice In AHL
Stephen Weiss, C, DET
7:00 AM
News: Stephen Weiss scored a pair of goals in two games with AHL Grand Rapids over the weekend.
Analysis: Stephen Weiss looked as healthy as he's been since joining Detroit, and the Red Wings hopes he can stay that way as they call him up Sunday. It remains to be seen whether he'll be in the lineup Monday against Ottawa.

Mika Zibanejad
Sens' Zibanejad Showing Signs Of Life
Mika Zibanejad, C, OTT
6:54 AM
News: Mika Zibanejad scored his third goal of the season in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the visiting Blues. He now has three points in the last four games.
Analysis: Mika Zibanejad had doubled his point total from three to six on the season over the last four contests, indicating that perhaps he's ready to turn the corner. At the very least, the recent production should help him ascend Ottawa's depth chart from his current spot on the team's fourth line.

Vladimir Tarasenko
Blues' Tarasenko Finds Twine Again
Vladimir Tarasenko, RW, STL
6:48 AM
News: Vladimir Tarasenko potted his 12th goal of the season in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Senators.
Analysis: Can you guess who grabbed the assists? Jori Lehtera and Jaden Schwartz of course, who together with Vladimir Tarasenko on the "STL" line continue to be one of the hottest trios in hockey. If Tarasenko's gaudy 23 points in 20 games weren't enough for owners, he's now second in the league with a plus-16 rating and his 79 shots are fifth best behind studs Alex Ovechkin, Claude Giroux, Joe Pavelski and Tyler Seguin. Unbelievable.

Alex Pietrangelo
Blues' Pietrangelo Dishes Out Pair Of Assists
Alex Pietrangelo, D, STL
6:40 AM
News: Alex Pietrangelo dished out a pair of helpers in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Senators. He also skated to a plus-2 and fired four shots on goal.
Analysis: The points snapped a six-game pointless streak for Alex Pietrangelo, who is the classic example of a player being significantly more valuable on the ice than in fantasy. There's no doubt that the Olympic gold medalist is one of the best defensemen in hockey, but he's clearly been surpassed in fantasy value by fellow Blues rearguard Kevin Shattenkirk, who has seven more points, and is 11 ticks higher in the plus/minus department while spending nearly three minutes less per game on the ice. All that being said, Pietrangelo is still a productive fantasy blueliner who deserves to be owned in all leagues.

Robin Lehner
Sens' Lehner Takes Loss Saturday
Robin Lehner, G, OTT
6:30 AM
News: Robin Lehner turned aside 30 of 33 shots but it wasn't enough as the Sens fell 3-2 to St. Louis on Saturday.
Analysis: Robin Lehner wasn't able to grab the win while making his second start in a row for just the second time this season, but the .909 save percentage in the game was an encouraging sign against a talented Blues attack. The young Swede's record now sits at 4-3-1 to go with a 2.84 GAA and .916 save percentage -- both of which are smack dab in line with his career marks of 2.82 and .918 -- and it looks like he's gaining some traction toward taking more starts away from Craig Anderson. Keep an eye on him.
