Player News
Devin Setoguchi
Flames' Setoguchi (Illness) Practices Friday
Devin Setoguchi, RW, CGY
11:16 AM
News: Devin Setoguchi (illness) returned to the ice for practice Friday, Aaron Vickers of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Devin Setoguchi was held out of practice Thursday because of the illness, but his return to practice Friday indicates he should be fine if needed. That being said, he will likely be a healthy scratch anyway.

Stefan Matteau
Devils' Matteau Nursing Upper-Body Injury
Stefan Matteau, LW, NJ
11:16 AM
News: Stefan Matteau is nursing an upper-body injury, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Stefan Matteau sustained the injury in a game with AHL Albany last Friday. Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said the team is just playing it safe with Matteau for now, but there's no indication as to when he might be ready to play again. The 20-year-old hasn't seen any NHL action since his 17-game debut in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season.

Drew Stafford
Sabres' Stafford Held Pointless In Loss
Drew Stafford, RW, BUF
11:14 AM
News: Drew Stafford was held without a point, and collected 17 penalty minutes, in a loss to the Kings on Thursday.
Analysis: Drew Stafford took exception to a big hit to teammate Torrey Mitchell, getting an instigator, fighting, and misconduct penalty for dropping his gloves. Stafford's struggled though on the whole, collecting just three points, with none in his past five games. He figures to break out of it at some point, but on offensively challenged Buffalo, his offensive production will likely be limited.

Ben Scrivens
Oilers To Go With Scrivens On Friday
Ben Scrivens, G, EDM
11:12 AM
News: Ben Scrivens will be in the crease Friday against the Hurricanes.
Analysis: After a woeful start to the season, Ben Scrivens has righted the ship the last two times out with victories against quality teams in the Lightning and Capitals. A matchup with the offensively-impotent Hurricanes should allow him to further trim down his 3.36 GAA.

Ales Hemsky
Hemsky Practices On Stars' Fourth Line
Ales Hemsky, RW, DAL
11:07 AM
News: Ales Hemsky was practicing on the fourth line during Friday's morning skate, according to Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky hasn't been the boon to the Stars offense they were hoping for. Through six games Hemsky has one assist, no goals, a minus-4 rating, and just seven shots. With shaky play and him moving down the line-up, he's looking like a risky fantasy start until he proves otherwise.

Anton Khudobin
Carolina's Khudobin To Start Friday
Anton Khudobin, G, CAR
11:07 AM
News: Anton Khudobin will be in the crease Friday against the Oilers.
Analysis: Coach Bill Peters will unsurprisingly turn the net over to Anton Khudobin on the heels of another implosion by Cam Ward, who yielded five goals to Calgary on Thursday. After supplying a pair of ugly starts to begin the season, Khudobin has performed better his last two times out, though he has yet to secure his first victory. A match against a similarly struggling Edmonton squad will offer a good opportunity for Khudobin to finally get a tally in the win column.

Logan Couture
Sharks' Couture Tallies Two Points In Loss
Logan Couture, C, SJ
11:03 AM
News: Logan Couture added two points, a goal and an assist, in a loss to the Blue Jackets on Thursday.
Analysis: Logan Couture is starting to heat up, with multiple points in three of his last four. He probably won't stay at this pace, with seven points in the team's last four games, but he figures to remain a top fantasy option going forward.

John Gibson
Ducks' Gibson Appears In Line To Start Friday
John Gibson, G, ANA
11:02 AM
News: John Gibson was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate and looks on track to get the start Friday against the Blue Jackets, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Since John Gibson's six-goal debacle in the Ducks' season-opening loss to the Penguins, Frederik Andersen has reeled off wins in each of his last six starts to solidify himself as the team's top goaltender. As a result, Gibson could only be used sparingly while Andersen continues to guide the Ducks to victories. Even a respectable outing by Gibson on Friday might not be enough for him to significantly cut into Andersen's workload.

Chris Stewart
Sabres' Stewart Continues Early Season Struggles
Chris Stewart, RW, BUF
10:56 AM
News: Chris Stewart fired seven shots on goal, but was held without a point in a loss to the Kings on Thursday.
Analysis: Chris Stewart has yet to score this year, and has registered just one point in eight games. He'll eventually get one in, and the best way to snap out of his early season funk may just be to keep shooting until one finds the back of the net.

Johan Franzen
Red Wings' Franzen To Miss Next Two Games
Johan Franzen, LW, DET
10:52 AM
News: Johan Franzen (groin) won't return from injured reserve when eligible Saturday, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: It seems Johan Franzen's groin injury is still a short-term concern, but GM Ken Holland declined to provide an update on how much improvement the forward has noticed with the injury. Since he has yet to take the ice since pregame warmups last weekend, the Red Wings decided to rule Franzen out of their two-game road trip beginning Saturday. He'll aim to work out on his own back in Detroit, with a possible return to action no sooner than Oct. 31 against the Kings.
