News: Al Montoya will be in the crease Monday vs. the Avalanche, Jim Toth of 680 CJOB reports. Analysis: Al Montoya came on strong to spell Ondrej Pavelec on Saturday vs. the Senators, knocking away all 12 shots to keep the bleeding from getting worse. The quality performance was enough to convince coach Paul Maurice to give Montoya the start Monday, but even with another solid outing, he probably won't displace Pavelec as the No. 1 starter.
News: Ben Bishop only made 17 saves on 20 shots in a shootout loss to the Coyotes on Monday. Analysis: Ben Bishop has had an excellent year, although recently his numbers have dipped. He's lost four in a row, and he has let in at least three goals in all of those starts.
News: Mike Smith made 28 saves on 31 shots in a shootout win over the Lightning on Monday. Analysis: Mike Smith has picked up the win in three of his last four starts, although he doesn't rank in the top 20 in either save percentage or GAA. However, he has played more games in net than anybody, so at the very least you can rely on him getting a bunch of starts as the Coyotes fight for the playoffs.
News: Ondrej Palat scored two goals and added an assist Monday in a 4-3 shootout loss to Phoenix. He has five points, including three goals, in his last two games. Analysis: He has 11 points, including six goals, in his last nine games and he now sits second in rookie scoring with 42 points. Use him while he's hot.
News: P.A. Parenteau hurt his right knee Monday, and the injury does not look good, according to Mike Chambers of the Denver Post. Analysis: Nothing's official, but the early report doesn't sound good. Hopefully, the Avalanche will provide an update after Monday's game. With four goals and an assist in his previous six contests, P.A. Parenteau had been thriving since the Olympic break.
News: Lee Stempniak picked up two helpers and was a plus-2 Monday against the Capitals. Analysis: These are Lee Stempniak's first points with Pittsburgh in three games since his trade. The plus-2 is also notable, because on the year he is minus-20, most of that coming with lowly Calgary. That number should improve the rest of the way.
News: Chris Kunitz lit the lamp twice, including the game-winner, Monday against the Capitals. Analysis: Chris Kunitz has 31 goals now, making this the first 30 goal season of his career. He also has 59 points, and he should blow past his career high of 61 this year.
News: Jaroslav Halak made 17 saves on 20 shots in a loss to the Penguins on Monday. Analysis: That's one win and one loss for Jaroslav Halak since being traded to Washington, although a loss to the Penguins is not a surprise. It remains to be seen how he acclimates to his new role. One where he is likely to face more shots.
News: Jeff Zatkoff made 31 saves on 33 shots in a win over the Capitals on Monday. Analysis: Jeff Zatkoff has not played terribly well in his backup role, as he has a .912 save percentage and 2.70 GAA. However, he's got 10 wins in 14 appearances, and playing for Pittsburgh always makes him a good bet to pick up the stray W.

Analysis: Colton Orr is dealing with an undisclosed injury and was expected to return for Monday's game. He took the ice for pregame warmups but was ultimately scratched.
