Player News
Kyle Bigos
Bigos Recalled To AHL Worcester
Kyle Bigos, D, SJ
11:57 AM
News: The Sharks have recalled Kyle Bigos from the Ontario Reign of the ECHL to AHL Worcester.
Analysis: Kyle Bigos has not played a game in the AHL this season and only logged five last year. He's unlikely to get a call-up to the NHL and become fantasy relevant this season.

Petr Mrazek
Red Wings' Mrazek To Get Nod Saturday
Petr Mrazek, G, DET
11:55 AM
News: Petr Mrazek said that he will be between the pipes Saturday against the Islanders, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: Petr Mrazek has been awful in his last four outings, with the low point perhaps coming Thursday in Tampa, during which he allowed five goals on 15 shots before being pulled for the final period. The Czech netminder's ongoing struggles could prompt coach Mike Babcock to turn to backup Tom McCollum for a start in the near future, but it looks like it will have to wait another game. Mrazek is in desperate need of a strong outing Saturday, but fantasy owners probably shouldn't stake their mortgage on him coming through.

Torey Krug
Bruins' Krug Stays Hot In Win
Torey Krug, D, BOS
11:48 AM
News: Torey Krug gave the Bruins a two-score lead earlier in the third period with his 10th marker of the season.
Analysis: Torey Krug's outstanding January rages on, as the 23-year-old has now collected an impressive three goals and seven assists in 11 games. Last year's 40-point performance is probably unattainable due to the time Krug missed with injuries, but he's quickly closing in on surpassing Dougie Hamilton for the team lead in defenseman scoring.

Zdeno Chara
Bruins' Chara Assists In Win
Zdeno Chara, D, BOS
11:44 AM
News: Zdeno Chara gathered an assist, four blocks, and three shot attempts in Thursday's win over the Islanders.
Analysis: With a modest 11 points in 29 games this season, it's worth wondering if Zdeno Chara's days as a top-notch fantasy blueliner might be over. He was able to table such talk last season by riding a strong second half to a runner-up finish in the Norris Trophy balloting, and his owners will surely be looking for a similar turnaround again. Now 37 years old, it's unclear if Chara has much high-level offensive game left in him. The assist Thursday was his first point in six games.

Travis Hamonic
Isles' Hamonic Records Assist In Loss
Travis Hamonic, D, NYI
11:40 AM
News: Travis Hamonic recorded an assist in Thursday's loss to the Bruins.
Analysis: Travis Hamonic has quietly increased his involvement offensively the last two weeks, recording four assists and 15 shots over his last six contests. With no 30-point seasons on his resume, it's hard to envision Hamonic sustaining this level of production going forward, but he's probably still somebody worth monitoring.

Michael Grabner
Isles' Grabner Pots Fifth In Loss
Michael Grabner, RW, NYI
11:37 AM
News: Michael Grabner netted his fifth goal of the season in Thursday's loss to the Bruins.
Analysis: Michael Grabner nearly came through with his first multi-goal game of the season, but an incredible stick save by Tuukka Rask robbed him of that distinction. Even so, the Austrian winger has been a strong complementary piece to the Isles' attack over his last five games, notching three goals and an assist.

Patrice Bergeron
Bruins' Bergeron Bags Power-Play Goal In Win
Patrice Bergeron, C, BOS
11:32 AM
News: Patrice Bergeron bagged a power-play goal and went minus-2 in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Islanders. The center also won 14 of his 20 faceoffs.
Analysis: The Bruins' lone All-Star ended a three-game pointless skid with the tally late in the first period. The minor slump shouldn't be anything to worry about; Patrice Bergeron remains in line to surpass the 50-point mark for a fifth consecutive full season.

Craig Anderson
Sens' Anderson Out For Saturday
Craig Anderson, G, OTT
11:28 AM
News: Craig Anderson (hand) wasn't on the ice for Friday's practice, Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: With Craig Anderson still recovering from the injury, coach Dave Cameron went ahead and confirmed Robin Lehner as Ottawa's starting goalie for Saturday's game against Arizona. The organization still seem to believe that Anderson's injury is minor, but he'll have to resume practicing before his return can be viewed as forthcoming.

Colby Robak
Ducks' Robak Assigned To AHL Norfolk
Colby Robak, D, ANA
11:28 AM
News: Colby Robak cleared waivers Friday and was assigned to AHL Norfolk, Elliot Teaford of the Low Angeles News Group reports.
Analysis: Colby Robak was placed on waivers in a precursor move to the Ducks activating Eric Brewer off injured reserve. The team traded for him in early December, sending Jesse Blacker and a conditional pick to the Panthers, but it appears the defenseman hasn't lived up to expectations (playing in just five games with the Ducks and posting one point). He will now head to the AHL and await another opportunity.

Kimmo Timonen
Flyers GM Calls Audible On Timonen's Status
Kimmo Timonen, D, PHI
11:25 AM
News: Flyers general manager Ron Hextall refuted coach Craig Berube's claims that Kimmo Timonen (blood clots) was set to return later in the season, suggesting a decision on the blueliner's status hasn't been made yet, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. "Kimmo communicated with us: 'I'm coming back?' I said, 'What do you mean?' He said, 'Well, it's on TV," Hextall said. "Kimmo and myself don't know whether Kimmo is coming back."
Analysis: While Berube never explicitly said Kimmo Timonen would return to action this season, his apparent optimism was enough for media outlets to take the leap and report as much. Hextall's refutation of the story doesn't indicate Timonen won't return this season; the Flyers are simply awaiting more information from doctors regarding the blueliner's test results. A more official announcement on Timonen's status should come before long.
