Player News
Nathan MacKinnon
Avs' MacKinnon Dishes Out Two Assists
Nathan MacKinnon, C, COL
12:53 PM
News: Nathan MacKinnon dished out a pair of helpers in Friday's win over Nashville.
Analysis: The two points snapped a three-game scoring drought for Nathan MacKinnon, who now has nine goals and 29 points in 50 games. While he's been held off the scoresheet in seven of his last nine games, the Avs are playing good hockey right now, picking up at least one point in six of their last seven games. MacKinnon's only 19, so we wouldn't give up on him just yet this season. His whopping 152 shots on goal indicate more goals are on the way. Patience is a virtue.

Mike Ribeiro
Preds' Ribeiro Piles On PIM
Mike Ribeiro, C, NSH
12:39 PM
News: Mike Ribeiro took a break from scoring Friday, racking up 22 PIM in a loss to Colorado.
Analysis: While Mike Ribeiro has 43 points (33 assists) in 48 games this season, he is also now among the league's top-100 PIM leaders. Producing at basically a point-per-game pace and sporting a steady plus-15 rating, Ribeiro is worth owning in most formats.

Marek Mazanec
Preds' Mazanec Gives Up Two Goals In Loss
Marek Mazanec, G, NSH
12:35 PM
News: Marek Mazanec gave up two goals on 27 shots in Friday's loss to Colorado.
Analysis: It was a good effort from Marek Mazanec, who got no offensive support in the shutout loss. It was the first start of the season for the 23-year-old, who had been giving way to Carter Hutton in Pekka Rinne's (knee) absence. Considering Hutton has given up seven goals in his last two starts, Mazanec could be worth a temporary pick-up until Rinne returns.

Semyon Varlamov
Avs' Varlamov Makes 23 Saves, Blanks Predators
Semyon Varlamov, G, COL
12:24 PM
News: Semyon Varlamov stopped all 23 shots he faced in Friday's shutout win over Nashville.
Analysis: A perfect outing for the workhorse, who has started 14 of the Avs' past 15 games. Semyon Varlamov is now 13-10-7 on the season with a .922 save percentage and 2.62 GAA. He's delivered some consistency play of late, allowing more than three goals just once in his last 10 appearances. Considering he's starting almost every game for an Avs team that has picked up at least one point in six of their last seven games, Varlamov is a great own in almost all formats.

Nikita Zadorov
Sabres' Zadorov Points In Return To Lineup
Nikita Zadorov, D, BUF
9:37 AM
News: Nikita Zadorov contributed a power-play assist in his return to the lineup Friday against the Canucks.
Analysis: Nikita Zadorov had served as a healthy scratch the previous two games after failing to report to the Sabres in a timely fashion following the All-Star break. It appears all has been forgiven at this point, which should make Zadorov a lineup mainstay in the subsequent contests to come. The young blueliner has two goals, seven assists, and a minus-13 rating over 35 games this season.

Roberto Luongo
Florida's Luongo In Line For Another Start
Roberto Luongo, G, FLA
9:34 AM
News: Roberto Luongo is lined up to start Saturday's game against the Devils, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Fresh off a sharp outing Thursday against the Blue Jackets in which he concluded a five-game losing streak, Roberto Luongo looks like a steady option for Saturday's match. The Devils rank 28th in the NHL in scoring, and are presumably a bit fatigued after Friday's overtime loss to the Penguins. Moreover, backup Keith Kinkaid will be in the net for the opposition rather than the sizzling Cory Schneider, which figures to aid Luongo's chances of capturing the victory on the road.

Ryan Getzlaf
Ducks' Getzlaf Struggles In Loss
Ryan Getzlaf, C, ANA
9:29 AM
News: Ryan Getzlaf failed to register a point for the third consecutive game and went minus-3 in Friday's loss to the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf's current scoring drought is tied for his second longest of the season. Getzlaf, and the Ducks, have struggled mightily over the team's past two contests. Anaheim has surrendered a total of 10 goals in their last two games combined, and Getzlaf has gone minus-6 over that stretch. Getzlaf is still having a fantastic season, however. The 29-year-old center has scored 15 goals and tallied 35 assists through 49 games with Anaheim this year, and will look to enjoy a bounce back performance on Tuesday against the Hurricanes.

Casey Cizikas
Isles' Cizikas Still Questionable For Saturday
Casey Cizikas, C, NYI
9:29 AM
News: Casey Cizikas (foot/ankle) is still being considered a game-time decision for Saturday's tilt with the Red Wings.
Analysis: The Islanders didn't hold a morning skate in advance of Saturday's matinee, so it's difficult to get a read on Casey Cizikas' status. If he ends up sitting out, look for Colin McDonald to assume his spot in the lineup.

Jonathan Quick
Quick To Backstop Kings On Saturday
Jonathan Quick, G, LA
9:26 AM
News: Jonathan Quick was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate and will thus backstop the Los Angeles net for Saturday's tilt in Boston, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Jonathan Quick finally snapped a seven-game losing streak his last time out against the Blackhawks on Wednesday, but it's still tough to roll him with much confidence at this juncture. He's posted a woeful 3.34 GAA and .868 save percentage in January, which has done significant damage to his season ratios. It might be best to keep him on the bench Saturday, as opposing goalie Tuukka Rask has been phenomenal of late and looks like the favorite to come away with the victory.

Johnny Oduya
Hawks' Oduya Tallies Assist
Johnny Oduya, D, CHI
9:18 AM
News: Johnny Oduya registered an assist in Friday's 4-1 win over the Ducks.
Analysis: While points are always a nice bonus for Johnny Oduya, his true value lies in his skills as a defender. Oduya has posted 42 hits, 88 blocked shots and five points through 48 games with the Blackhawks this season.
