Analysis: Nick Spaling`s 12th of the year midway through the second was the first Preds goal in nearly seven periods - 137:52, to be exact. They jumped out to a 3-0 lead against Ottawa but needed overtime after Pekka Rinne gave up three unanswered goals in the third. Nonetheless, the fifth-year NHLer has now surpassed his career highs in goals, assists and points with 12, 13 and 25, respectively. Although the Predators are a long shot to make the playoffs, Spaling will be motivated to play for a raise as his one-year, $1.5 million contract expires at the end of the season.
