News: Zbynek Michalek scored his first goal of the season in Saturday's win over Anaheim. Analysis: Zbynek Michalek now has six points in 35 games, to go with a minus-5 rating. Considering it's been five years since the 32-year-old surpassed the 20-point mark, don't expect much more offense from Michalek this season. Considering he sees almost no power-play time, Michalek doesn't provide much fantasy value outside of the deepest of leagues.
News: Kari Lehtonen made 30 saves on 33 shots in Saturday's win over the Blues. Analysis: Kari Lehtonen is now 4-1-0 in his last six appearances, giving up 14 goals in that span. The 31-year-old is 14-8-5 on the season, with a .904 save percentage and 2.99 GAA. While he gets the call almost every night for Dallas, the Stars have allowed a whopping 113 goals-against this season, with the disastrous Oilers being the only other team to yield more. Lehtonen is a great fantasy option if you're looking for wins, but if you want solid rate stats, don't expect impressive totals from Lehtonen.
News: Jake Allen gave up four goals on 24 shots in Saturday's loss to Dallas. Analysis: Not the best night for Jake Allen, who has now lost three straight games, giving up a whopping 12 goals in that span. While he remains a top fantasy option with an 11-5-2 record, his .899 save percentage and 2.76 GAA is a tad alarming. While he will likely remain the starter with Brian Elliot (knee) out, expect Allen to lose a significant amount of starts once Elliot returns -- especially if the 24-year-old continues to struggle.
News: Josh Gorges was credited with two assists in Saturday's come-from-behind shootout victory over the Islanders. Analysis: Both of the helpers were of the secondary variety, with one coming on the penalty kill. Perhaps the most trusted defender on the Buffalo roster, Josh Gorges has seen over 26 minutes of ice time in two straight contests and should continue to hold down a spot on the team's top pairing. However, both this season and historically, he's never been much of a contributor on the offense end, limiting his utility in the fantasy realm.
News: Jason Pominville potted a goal and added an assist -- his 25th and 26th points of the season -- in a 4-3 OT loss to the Jets on Saturday. Analysis: That's eight points over the last six games for Jason Pominville, who has upped his shot total to 117 on the year in the process. It's disappointing that the Wild have managed just a single win against the lowly Coyotes during Pommer's streak, but owners surely won't mind. Keep him active.
News: Nicolas Deslauriers recorded two points in Saturday's comeback victory over the Islanders, scoring a third-period goal and assisting on another. He finished the night with five shot attempts and five hits. Analysis: Nicolas Deslauriers' wrist shot with less than 14 minutes remaining in the third period broke up goalie Kevin Poulin's shutout and ignited a furious rally for the Sabres, who overcame a 3-0 deficit in a matter of six minutes. The winger has tallied two goals and two assists over the last three games, solidifying his place for now on the club's second line.
News: John Tavares netted two goals on six shot attempts in Saturday's loss to the Sabres. Analysis: With 15 goals and 16 assists over 35 games, John Tavares isn't quite producing at a point-per-game clip, but he's more or less justified the lofty expectations placed on him on draft day. The six shots Tavares attempted Saturday was his second-highest total of the season, aiding him to his first multi-point outing since Nov. 22.
News: Bryan Little got his name on the scoresheet twice Saturday, potting a goal and adding an assist in a 4-3 OT win over the Wild. Analysis: That's four points in the last three games and 25 overall in 36 games this season for Bryan Little, who has been an integral part of the 19-10-7 Jets thus far. He's shooting at an unsustainable 21.5 shooting percentage which is somewhat concerning in the goal department, but his 65 shots are behind the 170-shot pace from last season, so if he starts firing more rubber on net, a moderate correction to his shooting percentage should soon follow.
News: Mark Pysyk was recalled from AHL Rochester on Sunday, WGR 550 in Buffalo reports. Analysis: Mark Pysyk's most recent stint with the Sabres ended with the return of Mike Weber Saturday. His recall from AHL Rochester likely indicates that Rasmus Ristolainen, who was forced from Saturday's contest due to illness, could be in danger of missing at least Monday's game as well. However, his newest visit with the club will probably not be an extended one barring something unforeseen.
News: Kyle Okposo registered two assists in Saturday's loss to the Sabres. Analysis: Kyle Okposo's goal scoring has taken a dive this season, but he's still on pace to produce 73 points, which would surpass last season's career-best of 69. If John Tavares can manage to stay healthy for the full campaign, there's little reason to doubt Okposo's ability to remain a consistent performer. He's gone no more than three consecutive games without a point this season.
