Player News
Lars Eller
Canadiens' Eller Could Return Thursday
Lars Eller, C, MON
8:18 AM
News: Lars Eller (upper body) will be a game-time decision for Thursday's game against the Ducks, John Lu of TSN Montreal reports.
Analysis: Lars Eller is on the verge of returning after missing the last four games, and he could take the ice Thursday night. If he does not play Thursday, it seems likely Eller will be ready to go for Montreal's next game Saturday against the Senators.

Alexander Semin
Hurricanes' Semin Could Return This Weekend
Alexander Semin, RW, CAR
8:12 AM
News: Head coach Bill Peters hopes Alexander Semin (lower body) will be able to return to action this weekend, Michael Smith of the Hurricanes' website reports.
Analysis: Alexander Semin will miss at least one more game Thursday night, but he has nearly recovered from his lower body injury, so it's possible he could be in the lineup for one or both of the two games the Hurricanes will play against the Rangers this weekend.

Cam Ward
Hurricanes' Ward Gets The Nod Thursday
Cam Ward, G, CAR
8:02 AM
News: Cam Ward will be between the pipes for Thursday's game against the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Cam Ward will be looking to get back in the win column after losing four straight starts. That certainly will not come easy, however, with Carolina taking on a Toronto squad that currently leads the league with 3.45 goals per game.

Steve Mason
Flyers' Mason Gets The Start Thursday
Steve Mason, G, PHI
7:56 AM
News: Steve Mason will be in goal for Thursday's game against the Panthers, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Steve Mason played well in defeat in his last start, so he will hope for a similar performance but a different outcome Thursday night. He will take on a Florida squad that comes in 27th in the NHL with 2.17 goals per game.

Thomas Greiss
Penguins' Greiss Being Tested For Mumps
Thomas Greiss, G, PIT
7:39 AM
News: Thomas Greiss is being tested for the mumps.
Analysis: Thomas Greiss' short-term status is in question until it is determined what type of ailment he is dealing with. He was in position to see added playing time with fellow goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury potentially dealing with the mumps, but an exam cleared Fleury of any mumps symptoms, and it is now Greiss who could be the one missing time due to the illness making its way around the league.

Marc-Andre Fleury
Penguins' Fleury Cleared To Play Th ursday
Marc-Andre Fleury, G, PIT
7:31 AM
News: Marc-Andre Fleury (illness) has tested negative for the mumps and has been cleared to play in Thursday's game against the Avalanche.
Analysis: The Penguins have not announced if Marc-Andre Fleury will start Thursday's game, but fellow goaltender Thomas Greiss is now being tested for the mumps as well, so it will likely be either Fleury or AHL call-up Jeff Zatkoff getting the nod Thursday night.

Sidney Crosby
Penguins' Crosby Could Return Thursday
Sidney Crosby, C, PIT
7:23 AM
News: Sidney Crosby (illness) took the ice for Thursday's morning skate, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: The Penguins have not said whether or not Sidney Crosby will return to action Thursday after missing the last three games, but his presence at the team's morning skate gives him a chance to suit up Thursday night. The Penguins figure to update his status at some point prior to game time.

Michael Stone
Coyotes' Stone Doesn't Practice Wednesday
Michael Stone, D, ARI
7:20 AM
News: Michael Stone (upper body) didn't practice Wednesday, according to Sarah McLellan of AZCentral.com and remains day-to-day.
Analysis: Michael Stone left Tuesday's game against the Oilers early in the first period and should be considered questionable for Saturday's game against the Kings until he can return to practice.

Lauri Korpikoski
Coyotes' Korpikoski Does Not Practice Wednesday
Lauri Korpikoski, LW, ARI
7:14 AM
News: Lauri Korpikoski (lower body) didn't practice Wednesday and remains day-to-day, according to Sarah McLellan of AZCentral.com.
Analysis: Lauri Korpikoski should be considered questionable for Saturday's game against Los Angeles until he returns to practice.

Jaden Schwartz
Blues' Schwartz Has Broken Foot
Jaden Schwartz, LW, STL
7:06 AM
News: Updating previous reports, Jaden Schwartz has been placed on IR with a broken foot. He was injured blocking a shot in Tuesday's win over the Kings.
Analysis: Jaden Schwartz finished Tuesday's game despite the injury and only learned about the break Wednesday. The timeline for how long he will be out is undetermined right now, but the injury will undoubtedly require him to miss at least a couple weeks. It's a disappointing development for the young forward, who ranks second on the Blues in goals and points.
