News: Matt Calvert has been playing through a sinus infection for the last couple of weeks, the Columbus Dispatch reports. "I've never had it like this before," Calvert said. Analysis: After missing practice on Monday, Matt Calvert ended up taking his regular shift during Tuesday's win over the Capitals and finished with no points and a minus-2 rating. In fact, aside from a two-goal game against the Bruins on January 13, he's been mired in an awful stretch of play while he battles through the sinus issue. Until he gets healthy, keep Calvert far away from your active roster.
News: Jiri Tlusty registered a point for the second consecutive game Tuesday against the Lightning. His third-period goal iced the game and gave the Hurricanes a 4-2 win. Analysis: With 19 points in 40 games, Jiri Tlusty is still on track to hit the 30-point mark for the fourth consecutive season. He continues to see decent minutes on the Canes' top line alongside the Staal brother - Eric and Jordan - and provides good fantasy value in medium to deeper formats.
News: John-Michael Liles was a healthy scratch for the third straight game Tuesday versus the Lightning. Analysis: John-Michael Liles' fantasy value has taken a sharp hit in recent weeks, as he has missed 12 of the past 18 games. He was recently cleared to play following a bout of illness, but now cannot seem to find himself a spot in the lineup. It will probably take an injury to one of the Hurricanes' regular defensemen before he does so. Keep him on your bench for the time being.
News: Roman Josi scored his eighth goal of the season during Tuesday's OT win over the Avalanche. Analysis: After a slow start to the season (just three points in his first 12 games), Roman Josi is now just one point away from hitting the 30-point mark, and just 11 points away from his career-high 40 points from last year. He continues to see heavy minutes on the Preds' first blue line pairing alongside Shea Weber, so expect him to continue hitting the scoresheet with regularity.
News: Brendan Gallagher scored the game-winning goal in Tuesday night's 3-2 win over the Stars. Analysis: The goal was Brendan Gallagher's first tally in nine games and just his first on the power play.
News: Alex Galchenyuk scored a goal in Tuesday night's 3-2 win over the Stars. Analysis: Alex Galchenyuk now has goals in three straight games. The move back to wing has awaken his scoring touch.
News: Joe Colborne scored a goal, picked up an assist, went plus-2 and collected four PIM in Tuesday's win over Buffalo. Analysis: The Sabres are as fantasy-friendly as an opponent can be, and Joe Colborne took advantage to deliver his third goal and fifth point in the last four games. He's starting to get rolling offensively again and is worth a look in deeper formats.
News: Jiri Hudler posted a pair of assists -- one on the power play -- and went plus-2 in Tuesday's win over the Sabres. Analysis: He'd been iffy coming in with an illness, but certainly looked healthy out there, firing four shots on goal -- his highest shot total since Dec. 16. Unsurprisingly for someone who's been shooting so little, Jiri Hudler hasn't been scoring many goals lately -- he has just one in his last 14 games, although he's racked up 10 assists in that span.
News: Johnny Gaudreau pushed his point streak to three games by scoring goals on both of his shots -- one on the power play -- Tuesday against Buffalo. Analysis: An efficient game for Johnny Gaudreau, who has a four-game streak if you include the All-Star Game. But we don't, of course. He just keeps looking better and better, and is on pace to easily hit 60 points while playing the least-physical hockey in the league -- the rookie hasn't taken a penalty in his 48 career NHL games, and he just five hits all year.
News: Jonas Hiller faced just 18 shots Tuesday, turning aside 17 in a 4-1 victory over Buffalo. Analysis: It's the 12th straight loss for the Sabres, and like most of them, it was pretty easy for the opposition. Jonas Hiller was rarely tested while ending a stretch of four straight appearances without a win. He's been inconsistent this year, but still represents the top starting option in net for the Flames.
