Player News
Paul Stastny
Blues' Stastny (Upper Body) Out Saturday
Paul Stastny, C, STL
11/1/2014
News: Paul Stastny (upper body) will miss Saturday's game, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Paul Stastny suffered the injury Oct. 18 against the Coyotes and hasn't returned to action since. He appeared to be on track for Thursday's contest, but was ruled out in a game-time decision and now will miss Saturday as well.

Patrick Maroon
Ducks' Maroon (Knee) Will Play Friday
Patrick Maroon, LW, ANA
5:15 PM
News: Patrick Maroon will play Friday against the Stars, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Patrick Maroon seemed more likely to be slated for a Sunday return against the Avalanche, but appears to be on track for Friday's game. He has cut his initial timetable of four weeks in half by making his return to the ice for the first time since he sprained his MCL on Oct. 14.

Ben Scrivens
Scrivens To Start For Edmonton On Saturday
Ben Scrivens, G, EDM
5:15 PM
News: Ben Scrivens will start Saturday versus the Canucks, according to the Oilers web site.
Analysis: Viktor Fasth has recovered from his groin injury and is once again ready to play but Edmonton will stick with Ben Scrivens who has played better of late after a rough start to the season.

Nail Yakupov
Edmonton Wants Yakupov To Shoot More
Nail Yakupov, RW, EDM
5:12 PM
News: The Oilers are encouraging Nail Yakupov to shoot the puck more often, according to the Oilers web site.
Analysis: In the 10 games Nail Yakupov has played so far this season he only has 16 shots. The Oilers want him to start to think about shooting first and passing second. Yakupov has a good and accurate shot, something Edmonton wants to see Yakupov use about a half dozen times per game.

Brandon Pirri
Panthers Place Pirri (Concussion) On IR
Brandon Pirri, C, FLA
4:29 PM
News: Brandon Pirri (concussion) was placed on injured reserve Friday, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Brandon Pirri was already ruled out for Saturday's game because of the concussion, but now will miss at least a week as a result. The Panthers called up Rocco Grimaldi and Vincent Trochek to replace Pirri and Dave Bolland (groin) on the roster while they are on IR.

Joffrey Lupul
Lupul Out Indefinitely With Broken Hand
Joffrey Lupul, RW, TOR
4:11 PM
News: Joffrey Lupul is out indefinitely with a broken hand, James Mirtle of The Globe and Mail reports.
Analysis: The injury apparently occurred during practice when Joffrey Lupul stepped on a stick and fell on his hand. He was able to finish the workout and hoped to play Friday, but X-rays earlier in the day confirmed the unfortunate news. The team hasn't shed any light on when Lupul may be able to return, but it's highly likely that he'll be placed on IR and miss multiple weeks due to the injury. With Lupul out Carter Ashton is in the Leafs' lineup Friday.

Brock Nelson
Shot On Top Line Awaits For Isles' Nelson
Brock Nelson, C, NYI
3:51 PM
News: Coach Jack Capuano said Friday that Brock Nelson would be elevated to the top line with John Tavares and Kyle Okposo for Saturday's game against the Sharks, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Analysis: It's a much-deserved appointment for Brock Nelson, who has been one of the young season's most surprising stars with an impressive six goals and 12 points in 10 games. He'll displace the disappointing Cory Conacher (two points in 10 games), who was unable to offer much production despite playing next to one of the game's best pivots in Tavares. Nelson seems better prepared to fit in with Tavares and Okposo, as the trio had already established some strong continuity as members of the Isles' top power-play unit. Those who own Nelson that were thinking of selling high on the young forward may want to think twice; his early breakout could very well last for the long haul.

Dave Bolland
Panthers' Bolland Lands On IR
Dave Bolland, C, FLA
3:40 PM
News: Dave Bolland (lower body) has been placed on injured reserve Friday, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports
Analysis: Dave Bolland had only played the first four games of the season before sustaining the injury and did not have any points and only four penalty minutes. This stint on IR is retroactive to October 17th which would make him eligible to return to action as soon as tomorrow against the Flyers. Bolland has had injury problems over the last couple of seasons, including playing only 23 games with the Maple Leafs last season.

Rocco Grimaldi
Panthers Recall Grimaldi
Rocco Grimaldi, C, FLA
3:39 PM
News: Rocco Grimaldi was recalled from AHL San Antonio on Friday, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Rocco Grimaldi, a former second-round selection by the Panthers in 2011, narrowly missed out on claiming a roster spot with the big club in training camp. After biding his time at San Antonio, Grimaldi will now get the chance to make his NHL debut following the placements of Brandon Pirri and Dave Bolland on injured reserve Friday. The 21-year-old produced three goals and an assist over eight games with San Antonio.

Jonathan Bernier
Leafs Start Bernier Friday
Jonathan Bernier, G, TOR
3:37 PM
News: Jonathan Bernier will start between the pipes for the Leafs on Friday, Jonas Siegel of TSN reports.
Analysis: Jonathan Bernier was expected to start for the Leafs on Friday after he didn't participate in the optional morning skate. That is indeed the case, as he led the team onto the ice for warmups.
