News: Henrik Zetterberg (back) will travel with the team during its two-game road swing beginning Tuesday, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. Analysis: Henrik Zetterberg was ruled out for a full two weeks with the herniated disc last Monday, so it still seems highly likely that he won't play during either of the Wings' road contests. Even so, the fact that he's resumed traveling with the Wings indicates that he could be close to a return, though he'll need to resume practicing before he's cleared.
News: Arron Asham practiced with the team on Tuesday morning, reports Steve Zipay of Newsday. Analysis: With the way the team has been playing, it's very likely Arron Asham could crack the line up this week. Fantasy-wise, Asham will bring penalty minutes, hits and a phantom goal from time to time. Otherwise, his expected TOI and other traditional fantasy stats usually leaves something to be desired and should not be a consideration for owners in most league formats.
News: Jonathan Quick plans to get on the ice Thursday to test out his injured groin, Jon Rosen of LAKingsInsider.com reports. Analysis: If he's able to do so, it would mark Jonathan Quick's first on-ice activity since suffering the Grade 2 strain in a Nov. 12 game against the Sabres. The Kings expect him to return shortly after Christmas, but a clearer timetable probably won't be established until after he returns to practice.
News: Chad Johnson missed Monday's practice due to the flu. Analysis: At least four Bruins are dealing with the flu right now, but Chad Johnson's illness is probably the least problematic of the four. The Bruins are expected to go with Tuukka Rask as the starter Tuesday against the Flames in any case, so Johnson should be fully healthy by the next time the Bruins need him to take the net.
News: Updating a previous item, Marc Staal does have a concussion, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports. Analysis: Marc Staal suffered the hit in Saturday's 4-3 loss to New Jersey. Zipay also reports this concussion is not "as bad as the previous" concussion he suffered last season and that head coach Alain Vigneault stated there is no need to see a concussion specialist in Michigan. Regardless, it looks like the former top-scoring defenseman will get some time off leaving fantasy owners to hope he will pick up the production if/when he returns.
News: Gregory Campbell is battling the flu and missed practice as a result Monday. Analysis: At least four Bruins are dealing with the illness at the moment, adding further challenges to a team that had already lost Loui Eriksson to injury and Shawn Thornton to suspension during its road trip. Gregory Campbell will look to rest up in hopes of returning Tuesday vs. the Flames, but his status for the game has yet to be determined.
News: Zdeno Chara was absent from Monday's practice with a case of the flu. Analysis: At least four Bruins are dealing with the illness at the moment, adding further challenges to a team that had already recently lost Loui Eriksson to injury and Shawn Thornton to suspension. Zdeno Chara will look to rest up in hopes of returning Tuesday vs. the Flames, but his status for the game has yet to be determined.
News: The Bruins recalled Nick Johnson from AHL Providence on Tuesday, Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com reports. Analysis: With the flu bug working its way around the Boston locker room in addition to the absences of Loui Eriksson and Shawn Thornton thinning the forward ranks, Nick Johnson will join the Bruins to provide reinforcement. He was waived by the team in training camp but totaled six points over 17 games with the Coyotes last season.
