Player News
Ilya Bryzgalov
Ducks' Bryzgalov Pummeled In Loss
Ilya Bryzgalov, G, ANA
6:30 AM
News: Ilya Bryzgalov was ripped apart for six goals on 25 shots by the Sharks before being pulled from Thursday's loss.
Analysis: Sadly, all that happened in less than two periods. Frederik Andersen came in and stopped all eight shots in relief, and he should continue to occupy the net most nights after Bryz's second six-goal implosion in four starts this season.

Matt Fraser
Oilers' Fraser Starting To Produce
Matt Fraser, LW, EDM
6:28 AM
News: Matt Fraser was a driving force behind the Edmonton offense Thursday, scoring a goal and assisting on the other two in a 3-2 win over Buffalo.
Analysis: The Bruins dumped Matt Fraser with a stat line of three goals and no assists in 24 games; he's now matched that goal total and more than doubled the point total in just 12 games as an Oiler, and he even has a plus-3 rating after going, well, plus-3 on Thursday. With five points in his last four games, Fraser merits a look in deep formats.

Anton Lander
Lander's Big Game Lifts Oilers
Anton Lander, C, EDM
6:25 AM
News: Anton Lander scored the game-winning goal -- his first tally of the year -- and had the primary assists on Edmonton's other two goals in Thursday's 3-2 win over Buffalo.
Analysis: He drove the offense in this one, which has to be pretty unexpected from a guy who entered play with 12 points in 105 career games. But he does now have seven points in 12 games this season, which is a fairly respectable stat that should make deep-league fantasy owners take a look at the 23-year-old Swede.

Ben Scrivens
Scrivens, Oilers Win Battle Of Basement
Ben Scrivens, G, EDM
6:17 AM
News: Ben Scrivens allowed two goals on 20 shots to come away with a 3-2 win over the Sabres on Thursday.
Analysis: Ben Scrivens snapped a personal three-game losing skid in which he'd allowed 11 goals. Of course, Buffalo's the only team worse than the Oilers, as the Sabres have now dropped 13 straight. So this is one of those hollow victories -- but hey, a win's a win.

Nick Schultz
Flyers' Schultz Scores First Goal since 2013
Nick Schultz, D, PHI
6:14 AM
News: Nick Schultz scored his first goal since the 2012-13 season Thursday, and it held up as the game-winner against Winnipeg.
Analysis: That last tally came on April 8, 2013, so Nick Schultz was coming up on a two-year goal-scoring slump. Now he can try for the next step: scoring more than one goal in a season for the first time since 2010-11.

Petr Straka
Flyers' Straka Gets First NHL Point
Petr Straka, RW, PHI
6:13 AM
News: Petr Straka netted his first NHL point in his second career game Thursday, picking up the primary assist on Nick Schultz's game-winning goal against Winnipeg.
Analysis: Nice to see Petr Straka find his way onto the sheet, but with only 44 points in 99 AHL games, he hasn't shown a whole lot of scoring upside since turning pro.

Brayden Schenn
Two-Point Evening For Flyers' B. Schenn
Brayden Schenn, C, PHI
6:11 AM
News: Brayden Schenn scored his 11th goal and contributed a power-play assist Thursday against Winnipeg.
Analysis: His scoring remains inconsistent, but he does have these little outbursts from time to time, and Brayden Schenn remains on track to break 50 points for the first time in his career. Still, he has the talent to do bigger things, so we'd like to see more.

Wayne Simmonds
Flyers' Simmonds Scores In Second Straight
Wayne Simmonds, RW, PHI
6:08 AM
News: Despite skating just 11:02, Wayne Simmonds potted a goal on the power play, chipped in an assist, went plus-1, picked up two PIM and laid four hits Thursday against Winnipeg.
Analysis: It's his second straight game with a goal following a 14-game slump in which he picked up just one goal and three assists. While that skid slowed Wayne Simmonds' pace, he should pick it back up, especially if the Flyer reward his resurgence with a return to his typical minutes.

Mathieu Perreault
Perreault Drives Jets' Offense In Loss
Mathieu Perreault, C, WPG
6:05 AM
News: Mathieu Perreault was the only man to penetrate the Flyers' Steve Mason on Thursday, accounting for both Winnipeg goals in a 5-2 loss.
Analysis: He went through a brief cooling period after his four-goal game, but Mathieu Perreault showed that big outings like that are no fluke. Assuming his health holds up, he should blow by last year's career-high 43 points, and the best could be yet to come.

Michael Hutchinson
Rare Dud For Jets' Hutchinson
Michael Hutchinson, G, WPG
6:01 AM
News: Michael Hutchinson saw his four-game winning streak snapped Thursday, as he allowed four goals on 31 shots in a 5-2 loss to the Flyers.
Analysis: The final goal came into an empty net. Ondrej Pavelec drew the Jets' first start out of the break and had a similarly poor game, so don't expect this to lower Hutch's standing, especially considering he still holds a narrow league lead over Carey Price and Pekka Rinne in save percentage.
