News: Mark Fistric (upper body) will not play Wednesday vs. the Wild, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports. Analysis: Mark Fistric's absence will allow Alex Grant, who had previously been serving as a healthy scratch, to enter the lineup in his stead. The 27-year-old Fistric has two points and is averaging 15:48 of ice time in 13 games this season.
News: Kevin Poulin will get the starting nod Tuesday vs. the Sharks. Analysis: Kevin Poulin looked to be on the outs as the Islanders' No. 1 goaltender as recently as last week, but it looks like he could be back into a timeshare with Anders Nilsson. Neither goalie is an attractive option outside of deeper leagues and all the Islanders can do is pray they keep the team competitive until injured starter Evgeni Nabokov returns.
News: Kimmo Timonen notched a goal and assist Monday vs. the Senators. Analysis: After exiting Saturday's contest with an upper-body injury, Kimmo Timonen was able to slot back into the lineup just two days later to turn in one of his better games of the season. Fantasy owners might have understandably cut bait on Timonen following his scoreless month of October, but with eight points in his last 17 contests, his production finally appears to be in line with what the Flyers had expected coming into the season.
News: Patrick Dwyer (upper body) saw 14:02 of ice time in his return to action Monday against the Canucks. Analysis: It looks like Patrick Dwyer's upper-body injury was only a minor concern, as the winger missed just one game of action due to the ailment. He was held scoreless in Monday's contest but registered two shots on goal and two hits.
News: Tuukka Rask was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate and is expected to get the start Tuesday vs. the Flames. Analysis: No surprise here that Tuukka Rask will draw the start after receiving Sunday off with backup Chad Johnson drawing the start in the net. Rask should be a safe option against the floundering Flames, even with a battered defense working in front of him.
News: Harry Zolnierczyk was reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Tuesday, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Analysis: Harry Zolnierczyk didn't appear in either of the Penguins' two games during his four-game stint with the parent club. He'll return to the minors now that Evgeni Malkin is healthy and capable of playing regularly.
News: Emerson Etem was reassigned to AHL Norfolk on Tuesday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports. Analysis: With Emerson Etem vacillating in and out of the lineup over the last few games, the Ducks decided he would better off at Norfolk, where he'd see more consistent ice time. Etem had just one point in his last eight games prior to his demotion.
News: Ryan Miller will be in the net Tuesday vs. the Senators, Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News reports. Analysis: Ryan Miller has received only one goal of offensive support in five of his last six starts, leaving him with a 1-5-0 record during that span. He certainly hasn't helped himself with a 3.05 GAA and .917 save percentage on the season, but it's clear that Miller's fantasy value would be dramatically better with almost any other team, a possibility that could be realized as we inch closer to the trade deadline.
