Player News
Brendan Gallagher
Montreal's Gallagher Scores In Loss
Brendan Gallagher, RW, MON
12:00 PM
News: Brendan Gallagher scored his 18th goal of the season and was plus-1 in Thursday night's 4-3 shootout loss to the Kings.
Analysis: Brendan Gallagher is enjoying life since his move to the top line -- that's the place to be for a Canadien forward. He has nine points (five goals, four assists) in the previous eight games.

Chris Higgins
Canucks' Higgins Tallies Goal In Loss
Chris Higgins, LW, VAN
9:37 AM
News: Chris Higgins tallied his eighth goal of the season in Thursday's shootout loss to the Canucks.
Analysis: Chris Higgins ran the give-and-go with teammate Jannik Hansen to perfection, cutting the Canucks' deficit to one goal with under eight minutes remaining in the third period. The Canucks would get the equalizer in the final minute of the period before falling in the shootout, where Higgins' third-round misfire gave the Coyotes the victory. Though he wasn't able to come through in the clutch, Higgins at least extended his point streak to three games, tying his second-longest scoring run of the season.

Mikael Backlund
Flames' Backlund Tallies Assist
Mikael Backlund, C, CGY
9:35 AM
News: Mikael Backlund picked up an assist in a 4-3 shootout victory against Boston on Thursday.
Analysis: Mikael Backlund is having a strong season with 19 points in 34 games, and has three points in his last three games. If you need a fill-in, Backlund is in the midst of a hot streak.

Tomas Plekanec
Habs' Plekanec Sets Up Goal In Loss
Tomas Plekanec, C, MON
9:32 AM
News: Tomas Plekanec set up Brendan Gallagher's second-period tally in Thursday's loss to the Kings.
Analysis: Tomas Plekanec put the scoring chance in motion by firing off a shot on goal that bounced off goalie Jonathan Quick before Gallagher collected the rebound and found the back of the net. It would go down as Plekanec's only shot on goal during the contest, mirroring a trend of light activity he's fallen victim to of late. While Plekanec hasn't noticed a prolonged scoring drought as a result, he's still put one or zero shots on goal in three of his last five games, making it a bit hard to reliably depend on him.

Sean Monahan
Flames' Monahan Heating Up
Sean Monahan, C, CGY
9:32 AM
News: Sean Monahan lit the lamp for the second straight game Thursday as the Flames downed the Bruins 4-3 via shootout.
Analysis: Sean Monahan has 10 points in his last nine games and is really turning up his game up as the season winds down. Thirty goals isn't out of reach for the center, who is turning into a solid fantasy player in just his second season.

Dale Weise
Habs' Weise Gets Secondary Assist
Dale Weise, RW, MON
9:29 AM
News: Dale Weise captured a secondary assist on Max Pacioretty's third-period goal in the Habs' shootout loss to the Kings on Thursday.
Analysis: Dale Weise is still hanging on to a top-six role with the Canadiens, but his production has largely dried up after a hot start to February. He's recorded no goals and three assists over his last 13 games, and hasn't been especially active in the shot department, either, logging only 11 shots on goal during that stretch.

Johnny Gaudreau
Flames' Gaudreau Breaks Goal Drought
Johnny Gaudreau, LW, CGY
9:28 AM
News: Johnny Gaudreau scored his first goal since Jan. 27 on Thursday in a 4-3 shootout win against Boston.
Analysis: Johnny Gaudreau had a terrific first half of the season but has slowed a bit over the last month. That being said, he does have two points in two March games and seems to be playing well again. He may be primed for a solid stretch run as the Flames shoot for a playoff berth.

Dustin Brown
Kings' Brown Earns Assist
Dustin Brown, RW, LA
9:26 AM
News: Dustin Brown pocketed an assist in Thursday's shootout win over the Canadiens.
Analysis: Jeff Carter was on the receiving end of a give-and-go with Dustin Brown, aiding the latter to his first point in seven games. Brown has been prone to dry spells of this variety this season, having previously experienced a five-point skid and two separate eight-point droughts. From a fantasy perspective, there's not much value to be had any longer in Brown, who isn't likely to reemerge as a 50-point contributor again in his career.

David Schlemko
Flames' Schlemko Gets Shootout Winner
David Schlemko, D, CGY
9:25 AM
News: In his first game with the Flames, David Schlemko netted a highlight-reel shootout goal to clinch a 4-3 win over the Bruins on Thursday.
Analysis: As a defenseman with one shootout attempt in the NHL, not many were expecting the beautiful move David Schlemko put on Tuukka Rask to clinch the victory. The blue-liner only had four points in 26 games with the Stars, but is off to a good start in Calgary.

Johnny Oduya
Blackhawks' Oduya Hopes To Return Next Week
Johnny Oduya, D, CHI
9:23 AM
News: Johnny Oduya (upper body) hopes to return next week, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Johnny Oduya was considered doubtful for the upcoming weekend, and his words seemingly confirm that he won't suit up. With Chicago off from Monday through Wednesday, a return for Thursday's game in Arizona is the new best-case scenario.
