Player News
Ryan Carter
Wild's Carter Out Friday
Ryan Carter, C, MIN
3/28/2015
News: Ryan Carter (shoulder) won't play Friday against the Flames.
Analysis: Coach Mike Yeo didn't want to change the lineup he used Tuesday against the Islanders, so Ryan Carter's return will have to wait. The Wild will play the second half of a back-to-back set Saturday versus the Kings, which could provide an opportunity for Carter to substitute in for another player.

Kyle Brodziak
Wild's Brodziak Out Friday
Kyle Brodziak, C, MIN
3/28/2015
News: Kyle Brodziak (upper body) will not play Friday against the Flames.
Analysis: Coach Mike Yeo has decided to stick with the same lineup Friday that he used Tuesday against the Islanders, meaning that Kyle Brodziak will sit a second straight game due to the injury. It's not clear how far along he is in his recovery from the injury, so he'll retain a day-to-day listing for the time being.

Patric Hornqvist
Pens' Hornqvist Not Counted Out For Weekend Return
Patric Hornqvist, RW, PIT
3/28/2015
News: Patric Hornqvist (undisclosed) practiced with the Penguins on Friday and is being listed as day-to-day, Shelly Anderson of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Fellow injured top-six forward Evgeni Malkin (lower body) also participated in Friday's session, but seemed to be more involved in line rushes than Patric Hornqvist. That would seem to suggest that Malkin will play Saturday versus the Coyotes and Hornqvist won't, but a ruling of the status on either player won't come until the Penguins check in on their progress overnight. Even if Hornqvist sits out Saturday, he'll still likely have a shot at suiting up for Sunday's tilt with the Sharks.

Mikael Samuelsson
Ex-NHLer Samuelsson Announces Retirement
Mikael Samuelsson, RW, DET
3/28/2015
News: Mikael Samuelsson announced his retirement from professional hockey this week, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: The 38-year-old played in his native Sweden this season after appearing in 26 games with the Red Wings in 2013-14. In addition to his two stints in Detroit, Mikael Samuelsson spent time with the Sharks, Rangers, Penguins, Panthers, and Canucks, finishing his NHL career with 149 goals and 346 points in 699 career games.

Patrick Maroon
Ducks' Maroon Opens Scoring In Boston
Patrick Maroon, LW, ANA
12:26 PM
News: Patrick Maroon scored his ninth goal of the season Thursday night against the Bruins.
Analysis: A nifty little move allowed Patrick Maroon to get open and fire a shot past Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask. He's only managed 33 points on the season, but Maroon remains part of a whole host of Ducks who are hanging around the outer region of fantasy relevance.

Corey Perry
Ducks' Perry Scores Late Equalizer
Corey Perry, RW, ANA
12:12 PM
News: Corey Perry scored in the last minute of the third to send Thursday's game against the Bruins to overtime.
Analysis: He struggled throughout the early part of March with just four points in the first nine games, but has bounced back nicely with four goals and an assist in his last five. Corey Perry is heating up at just the right time for the Ducks.

Christian Ehrhoff
Pens' Ehrhoff Won't Skate For A Week
Christian Ehrhoff, D, PIT
11:57 AM
News: Coach Mike Johnston said Friday that Christian Ehrhoff (upper body) won't be able to skate until next week, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: Johnston wouldn't reveal the nature of Christian Ehrhoff's upper-body injury, but there's reason to think he may have suffered a recurrence of a concussion after slamming head-first into the boards in Tuesday's game against the Blues. The Penguins don't appear to have a definitive timetable for Ehrhoff's return, but if he's indeed able to skate next week, the team might shed more light on his condition. Derrick Pouliot is expected to benefit the most from Ehrhoff's absence.

Marc-Andre Fleury
Pens' Fleury To Take Next Turn Sunday
Marc-Andre Fleury, G, PIT
11:52 AM
News: Marc-Andre Fleury will be in the crease for Sunday's game against the Sharks, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: With Thomas Greiss kicking off the Penguins' back-to-back set with a start Saturday against the Coyotes, Marc-Andre Fleury will be tasked with the tougher matchup of the two. Fleury has lost four of his last five decisions, and while he wasn't sharp in his last two turns, the disappearance of his offense bears the brunt of the responsibility for his demise. Fortunately, the team looks like it could have Evgeni Malkin (lower body) and potentially Patric Hornqvist (undisclosed) back in its lineup by Sunday, which would certainly bolster Fleury's chances of getting back on track. Even with the minor dip in performance, Fleury's ratios for the season (2.27 GAA, .921 save percentage) are above average, making him a playable option on an ongoing basis.

Thomas Greiss
Pens' Greiss Receives Saturday Start
Thomas Greiss, G, PIT
11:46 AM
News: Thomas Greiss will be in goal for Saturday's game against the Coyotes, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: With the Penguins playing a back-to-back set of games this weekend, Marc-Andre Fleury will be saved for the tougher matchup Sunday versus the Sharks while Thomas Greiss gets the cushy draw against his former team. Though the Coyotes have accumulated eight goals over their last two games, they still rank 29th in the league with 2.04 goals per game and count the since-departed Keith Yandle as their scoring leader with 41 points. Greiss makes for both a great streaming option in season-long leagues and a strong, affordable play in daily formats.

Evgeni Malkin
Pens' Malkin Could Be Back Saturday
Evgeni Malkin, C, PIT
11:37 AM
News: Evgeni Malkin (lower body) felt strong after participating in Friday's practice and believes there's a "great chance" he'll be able to play Saturday against the Coyotes.
Analysis: The Penguins could surely use Evgeni Malkin back in their lineup, as the team has lost five of the last six games the center has missed while scoring a total of seven goals. While Malkin said he'll likely be cleared to play if he reports no pain or soreness over night, due to the 1:00 ET start time of Saturday's match, his availability may not be clarified until pregame warmups.
