Player News
Matt Beleskey
Ducks' Beleskey Out Friday
Matt Beleskey, LW, ANA
4/19/2014
News: Matt Beleskey (lower body) will not play in Friday's game against the Stars.
Analysis: The nature and extent of Matt Beleskey's setback are uncertain, but whatever ailment he is dealing with will prevent him from taking the ice Friday. Consider him questionable for Monday's Game 3.

Ryan Getzlaf
Ducks' Getzlaf Will Play Friday
Ryan Getzlaf, C, ANA
4/19/2014
News: As expected, Ryan Getzlaf will play Friday against the Stars.
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf took a puck to the face in the Ducks' playoff opener Wednesday, but that won't prevent him from suiting up for the second game of the series Friday night. While Getzlaf will take the ice Friday, he will be without one of his regular linemates, as Matt Beleskey (lower body) will not play.

Ryan Miller
Despite Shaky Start, Blues' Miller Wins Game 1
Ryan Miller, G, STL
4/19/2014
News: After gifting the Blackhawks three goals on just seven first-period shots Thursday, Ryan Miller was perfect the rest of the way, turning aside the next 35 in a 4-3 Triple-OT win in Game 1.
Analysis: The nightmarish start by Ryan Miller caused panic among the Scottrade Center faithful, but the veteran netminder settled in nicely to prevent a seventh straight Blues loss. He got a little help by Max Lapierre -- who prevented an overtime goal when he covered a gaping net to stone the Blackhawks' Kris Versteeg -- but sometimes you've gotta be good to be lucky. Miller and the Blues should tighten things up even further when Game 2 goes Saturday afternoon.

Kari Lehtonen
Stars' Lehtonen In Goal Friday
Kari Lehtonen, G, DAL
2:36 PM
News: Kari Lehtonen warmed up prior to Friday's game and will start in goal, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Kari Lehtonen will be in net for Friday's Game 2, despite conceding three first-period goals in Game 1. At this point, it would be surprising if Lehtonen didn't start each of the Stars' subsequent playoff games.

Ben Bishop
Bolts' Bishop (Elbow) On Ice Friday, Won't Play
Ben Bishop, G, TB
1:42 PM
News: Ben Bishop (elbow) faced shots during morning skate for the first time in over a week, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Ben Bishop has not played since April 8, and he took the ice Friday morning to work with goaltenders coach Frantz Jean. "He's progressing every day," Jean said. "The last three days have been extremely positive for him. The recuperation is going very well." While Bishop may be nearing a return, he will not be available Friday, meaning Anders Lindback is expected to man the net again.

T.J. Oshie
Blues' Oshie (Upper Body) Questionable For Game 2
T.J. Oshie, RW, STL
1:29 PM
News: T.J. Oshie (upper body) is considered questionable for Saturday's Game 2 against the Blackhawks, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: T.J. Oshie sat out Game 1 but skated Friday morning and the possibility remains that he could return for Game 2. Consider him a game-time call at this point, with a likely announcement regarding his status coming Saturday afternoon.

Jay Bouwmeester
Blues' Bouwmeester Will Play Saturday
Jay Bouwmeester, D, STL
1:26 PM
News: Jay Bouwmeester will play in Game 2 against the Blackhawks on Saturday, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester missed the second overtime period of Thursday's 4-3 win in Game 1. However, he was apparently just dealing with dehydration and all signs point to him taking the ice Saturday.

Semyon Varlamov
Avs' Varlamov Picks Up Game 1 Win
Semyon Varlamov, G, COL
10:57 AM
News: Semyon Varlamov wasn't at his best Thursday, but his 29 saves were enough as the Avs overcame a 4-2 deficit to beat Minnesota in overtime, 5-4.
Analysis: As was the case many times this season, Colorado's offense staged a late-game comeback to steal a win for Varly. The Avs typically give up a ton of shots -- 32.7 per game this season to be exact, trailing only the lowly Oilers in the Western Conference -- so they'll likely need to ride their Vezina-worthy netminder extra hard in the postseason. Expect a lower-scoring affair when the series resumes Saturday at Pepsi Center.

Frederik Andersen
Ducks' Andersen To Start Again Friday
Frederik Andersen, G, ANA
10:55 AM
News: Frederik Andersen will be in goal for Friday's game against the Stars, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Frederik Andersen will get the nod over Jonas Hiller for the second straight game after helping the Ducks to a victory in Wednesday's postseason opener.

R.J. Umberger
Blue Jackets' Umberger (Upper Body) To Return
R.J. Umberger, LW, CLB
10:54 AM
News: R.J. Umberger (upper body) expects to play in Game 2 against Pittsburgh on Saturday, the Blue Jackets' team website reports.
Analysis: R.J. Umberger's injury forced him out of Columbus' final four regular season games, as well as Game 1 of the playoffs; however, reportedly feeling better, Umberger should be back in action Saturday.
