Player News
Petr Mrazek
Red Wings' Mrazek Gets Thursday's Start
Petr Mrazek, G, DET
10:17 AM
News: Petr Mrazek will stay in the crease for Thursday's game against the Lightning, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: Petr Mrazek barely eeked out a win Tuesday against the Panthers, allowing four goals but making 37 saves in the victory. He's yielded four goals in his last two turns while facing a barrage of shots, and had been pulled in his previous start before that against the Sabres after surrendering three goals on seven shots. While his standing as the Red Wings' No. 1 goalie won't be challenged while Jimmy Howard (groin) and Jonas Gustavsson (shoulder) remain on injured reserve, Mrazek isn't looking like an especially dependable option right now. If other alternatives exist, it may be prudent to keep him on the bench Thursday against a powerful Bolts attack.

Brett Ritchie
Ritchie Not Quite Ready For Stars
Brett Ritchie, RW, DAL
10:05 AM
News: Despite being taken off IR and being called a game-time decision, it appears that Brett Ritchie will not be ready for Thursday's game, according to Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News.
Analysis: The good news is that he's close enough for the team to take him off IR. Expect him to suit up in on Saturday against the Jets.

Patrick Kane
Hawks' Kane Nabs Two Points
Patrick Kane, RW, CHI
10:02 AM
News: Patrick Kane netted a goal and a power-play assist in Wednesday's loss to the Kings.
Analysis: Patrick Kane wasted no time leaving his imprint on the game Wednesday, ringing home his 23rd goal of the season less than two minutes into the first period. The 26-year-old has notched 53 points in 48 games, putting him on track to potentially best his previous season-best of 88 points, which he accomplished in 2009-10.

Jordie Benn
Stars To Scratch Jordie Benn
Jordie Benn, D, DAL
10:02 AM
News: The Stars are likely to make Jordie Benn a healthy scratch on Thursday, according to Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News.
Analysis: Aside from a January 18 game against Chicago, Jordie Benn's ice time has been cut significantly recently and this isn't the first time the team has scratched him this season. There may be more reliable options for your team on the wire.

Patrick Sharp
Two-Point Night For Hawks' Sharp
Patrick Sharp, LW, CHI
9:57 AM
News: Patrick Sharp notched a power-play goal and an assist in Wednesday's loss to the Kings.
Analysis: Both of Patrick Sharp's tallies came in the first period, giving him his second multi-point outing in three games. Last season's 78-point campaign will probably go down as the high point for his career, but the 33-year-old Sharp still scores with enough frequency to warrant a roster spot in any format.

Danil Tarasov
Sharks Recall Tarasov From AHL
Danil Tarasov, RW, SJ
9:57 AM
News: The Sharks recalled Danil Tarasov from Worcester on Thursday.
Analysis: Danil Tarasov leads AHL Worcester in points this season with 25. The recall is likely connected to Tyler Kennedy's injury that cropped up before Wednesday's practice.

Corey Crawford
Hawks' Crawford Folds Wednesday
Corey Crawford, G, CHI
9:53 AM
News: Corey Crawford let in four goals on 27 shots in Wednesday's loss to the Kings.
Analysis: Corey Crawford and the Blackhawks clung to a 3-2 lead with 10 minutes remaining in the third period, but the home team would rally to get two goals past the netminder, with Jake Muzzin's game-winner coming with less than four minutes remaining. The ultimate goal wasn't without controversy, however, as Crawford insinuated after the game that he felt the Kings interfered on the play. In any event, it goes down as a poor outing for Crawford, who hasn't seemed to regain his early-season form since returning from a foot injury in December. After holding down a GAA below 2.00 prior to that time, he's since seen that figure inflate to 2.32 for the season, with his save percentage also falling to .919.

Anze Kopitar
Kings' Kopitar Assists Twice In Win
Anze Kopitar, C, LA
9:29 AM
News: Anze Kopitar gathered two assists in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Anze Kopitar set up Jeff Carter's power-play goal in the second period and Jake Muzzin's game-winner with less than four minutes remaining in the third. The 27-year-old center has been on fire since about mid-December, tallying five goals and 21 assists over his last 18 games.

Mike Green
Caps' Green Nets Two Points In Win
Mike Green, D, WAS
9:23 AM
News: Mike Green potted a goal and added a power-play assist in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Penguins.
Analysis: The goal was Mike Green's first since Dec. 20. During that month-plus drought, he's at least made himself useful for fantasy owners by racking up 13 assists, bringing his point total up to 29 for the season in 40 games. If health permits, Green looks like he'll make a push for his first 50-point campaign since 2009-10.

Tomas Jurco
Red Wings' Jurco To Return Thursday
Tomas Jurco, RW, DET
9:14 AM
News: Tomas Jurco (back) will play Thursday against the Lightning.
Analysis: Tomas Jurco will take the ice Thursday for the first time since Jan. 6. He will replace Dan Cleary in the Red Wings' lineup and skate on the fourth line alongside Joakim Andersson and opposite Drew Miller.
