Player News
Martin Hanzal
Coyotes' Hanzal Scores In Win
Martin Hanzal, C, ARI
7:36 AM
News: Martin Hanzal picked up his eighth goal of the season Thursday in a win over Toronto. He was plus-1 with six shots and three hits in the contest.
Analysis: Coming off his first 40-point season, Martin Hanzal has disappointed this year, but it has largely been due once again to his inability to stay on the ice. His point per game rate this season is that of a 50-point player, but as has been the case in almost every season of his career he has missed more than 10 games this season and it impedes his production.

Niklas Svedberg
Bruins' Svedberg Sent On Conditioning Assignment
Niklas Svedberg, G, BOS
7:33 AM
News: Niklas Svedberg was set to AHL Providence for a conditioning assignment Friday, Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports.
Analysis: The Bruins likely just want Niklas Svedberg to get some game action, as he hasn't played in a game since Jan. 8, with Tukka Rask dominating the workload. Top goaltending prospect Malcolm Subban was recalled from Providence for the corresponding move, and while Svedberg will likely rejoin the Bruins soon, Subban's presence may eventually make the Swedish netminder expendable. Both Svedberg and Subban have been impressive this season, while Rask has been fantastic in January, following a disappointing first three months.

Andrew Cogliano
Ducks' Cogliano Scores In Loss
Andrew Cogliano, C, ANA
7:32 AM
News: Andrew Cogliano tallied the game's first goal and put four shots on net in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Sharks. He also contributed six hits in the defeat.
Analysis: Andrew Cogliano staked the Ducks to an early lead in the first period, but that was about the highlight of the night for his team, who surrendered six unanswered goals to turn the game into a laugher. Even with the tally, Cogliano is still far behind the half-point-per-game production he delivered in 2013-14, charting only 13 points in 49 games to date.

Malcolm Subban
Bruins' Subban Recalled From AHL
Malcolm Subban, G, BOS
7:29 AM
News: Malcolm Subban was recalled from AHL Providence on Thursday, Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports.
Analysis: For the corresponding move, fellow netminder Niklas Svedberg is headed to Providence on a conditioning loan. Svedberg has played well in limited action this season, and Malcolm Subban has been magnificent in the AHL. It's probably just the case where the Bruins want to get Svedberg some extended work, but Subban's presence may eventually make the Swedish goaltender expendable.

Brent Burns
Sharks' Burns Adds Assist Thursday
Brent Burns, D, SJ
7:26 AM
News: Brent Burns gathered an assist in 26:49 of ice time Thursday against the Ducks.
Analysis: The assist helped Brent Burns snap his longest point slump of the season at four games. A drought of that length isn't particularly worrisome for a defenseman, and is probably more of a testament to Burns' impressive consistency this season. His ability to avoid significant dry spells has enabled him to rank among the top-scoring defensemen all season, with his 35 points currently checking in a tie for fourth place on that list.

Josh Anderson
Jackets' Anderson Gets First NHL Point
Josh Anderson, RW, CLB
7:24 AM
News: Josh Anderson picked up an assist during Thursday's loss to the Panthers, his first point in the NHL.
Analysis: His biggest contribution through his first six games with Columbus has been his 24 hits, but Josh Anderson continues to see ice time with Brandon Dubinsky and Scott Hartnell at even strength, so he could begin to make a small impact with his scoring as well.

James Sheppard
Sharks' Sheppard Picks Up Two Points
James Sheppard, LW, SJ
7:21 AM
News: James Sheppard potted a goal and dished out an assist in Thursday's 6-3 downing of the Ducks.
Analysis: The Sharks received some improbable contributions from James Sheppard and third-line mates Tomas Hertl and Barclay Goodrow, all of whom tallied two points on the night. Sheppard's strike occurred in the second period to give him his first goal in 16 games, and only his second in the last 34. He'll have to find the net with more regularity before becoming an intriguing fantasy option.

Artem Anisimov
Jackets' Anisimov Picks Up Assist In Return
Artem Anisimov, C, CLB
7:20 AM
News: Artem Anisimov (triceps) picked up an assist in his return to the ice on Thursday.
Analysis: He's being eased back into action by coach Todd Richards, and his fantasy ceiling wasn't that high to begin with, so don't rush out to grab Artem Anisimov now that he's back. He has much more value to the Blue Jackets than he does to any fantast owner.

Curtis McElhinney
McElhinney Takes Loss For Jackets
Curtis McElhinney, G, CLB
7:20 AM
News: Curtis McElhinney gave up three goals on 31 shots in Thursday's loss to Florida.
Analysis: A late-third-period tally by Sean Bergenheim untied a 2-2 game and sent the Jackets to the loss column. But Curtis McElhinney played well enough overall to named the game's third star, so at least he can hang his hat on that.

Roberto Luongo
Luongo Stops 31 As Panthers End Losing Skid
Roberto Luongo, G, FLA
7:12 AM
News: Roberto Luongo made 31 saves on 33 shots to snap a five-game losing streak Thursday with a 3-2 win over the Jackets.
Analysis: A nice turnaround for Roberto Luongo, who next will match up with his former Canucks protege Cory Schneider in New Jersey on Saturday. Despite the recent skid, fantasy owners have largely been rewarded for owning Luongo this year, as he's sporting a .920 save mark -- his best since 2011-12 with Vancouver.
