Jhonas Enroth, G, DAL

Jhonas Enroth

Kings Sign Enroth

News: The Kings signed Jhonas Enroth to a one-year deal worth $1.25 million on Wednesday, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: Jhonas Enroth will take over as the Kings' top backup behind starter Jonathan Quick, in the wake of the team's recent trade of Martin Jones. As long as Quick remains healthy, Enroth isn't likely to see a ton of action, but it's not hard to imagine the Kings -- who failed to qualify for the 2014-15 playoffs -- turning things around this season, a scenario that would give Enroth value in daily formats as a spot starter.

Anders Lindback, G, BUF

Anders Lindback

Lindback Signs With Coyotes

News: Anders Lindback signed a one-year, $875,000 contract with the Coyotes on Wednesday, ArizonaSports.com reports.
Analysis: Anders Lindback, who has posted a career .905 save percentage and 2.83 goals against average in 111 NHL appearances to date, is now in line to back up Mike Smith next season. In his new team context, Lindback figures to be a hit-or-miss fanasy option when he is called upon by the Coyotes to start.

Michal Neuvirth, G, NYI

Michal Neuvirth

Flyers Sign Neuvirth

News: Michal Neuvirth signed a two-year deal with the Flyers on Wednesday worth $3.25 million, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Michal Neuvirth, who played in 32 games last season for the Sabres and Islanders, compiling a 2.98 GAA and .914 save percentage in the process, is thus slated to serve as a backup to starter Steve Mason in Philly. He's essentially replacing veteran netminder Ray Emery in that role.

Thomas Greiss, G, PIT

Thomas Greiss

Isles Sign Greiss

News: Thomas Greiss signed a two-year, $3 million deal with the Islanders on Wednesday, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports.
Analysis: The 29-year-old Thomas Greiss compiled a 9-6-3 record, to go along with 2.59 GAA and .908 save percentage for the Penguins last season, while backing up Marc-Andre Fleury. He'll now fill a similar role with the Islanders, while slated to work behind Jaroslav Halak.

Karri Ramo, G, CGY

Karri Ramo

Flames Re-Sign Ramo On One-Year Pact

News: Karri Ramo re-signed Wednesday with the Flames on a one-year, $3.8 million contract, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
Analysis: With two promising goalie prospects in the pipeline in Joni Ortio and Jon Gillies (the former of whom is signed to a one-way deal), it seemed unlikely heading into the summer that the Flames would find room to bring back Karri Ramo. In addition to Ortio and Ramo, the Flames also have Jonas Hiller under contract for 2015-16, which may force the team to trade one of the three goalies. Assuming Ramo sticks around, he should have a fair chance to compete with both Hiller and Ortio for regular starting duties, though it seems doubtful that he'll capture an overwhelming portion of any timeshare. Ramo went 15-9-3 with a 2.60 GAA and .912 save percentage over 34 appearances last season.

Magnus Hellberg, G, NSH

Magnus Hellberg

Preds Looking To Trade Hellberg

News: Predators GM David Poile admitted Tuesday that the team is looking to trade Magnus Hellberg this summer, Adam Vingan of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: With Pekka Rinne and Carter Hutton under contract for 2015-16 and the Predators comfortable with the duo of Marek Mazanec and Juuse Saros at the AHL level, the organization has no incentive to keep carrying Magnus Hellberg. At 24 years old and coming off a season in which he posted a respectable 2.33 GAA and .913 save percentage in 38 appearances with AHL Milwaukee, Hellberg could warrant interest from another team looking for goalie depth in the minor-league ranks.

Mark Visentin, G, ARI

Mark Visentin

Coyotes Part Ways With Visentin

News: Mark Visentin wasn't given a qualifying offer by the Coyotes and will enter free agency, the Arizona Republic's Sarah McLellan reports.
Analysis: As a 22-year-old former first-round pick who'd represented Canada in the World Junior Championship, Mark Visentin doesn't seem like the sort of player a rebuilding franchise should cast aside, but he'll surely catch on with another franchise. Visentin didn't have a very good year with AHL Portland last season, posting a 3.25 GAA and .902 save percentage, but a new situation may be just what he needs to jump-start his career.

Mike Lee, G, ARI

Mike Lee

Coyotes Don't Qualify Lee

News: Mike Lee wasn't given a qualifying offer by the Coyotes and is now an unrestricted free agency, the Arizona Republic's Sarah McLellan reports.
Analysis: Mike Lee enters free agency coming off a season in which he made it to the NHL, but didn't see a minute of game action. He's had quite minimal success in the AHL and even ECHL, so Lee's not likely to wear an NHL sweater again anytime soon, but he could catch on with some franchise to offer some depth in the minors.

Tyler Bunz, G, EDM

Tyler Bunz

Oilers Part Ways With Bunz

News: Tyler Bunz wasn't tendered a qualifying offer by the Oilers on Monday, meaning he'll become an unrestricted free agent, Jason Gregor of the Edmonton Journal reports.
Analysis: Tyler Bunz was promoted to the Oilers last April when injuries compromised the team's goalie depth, but he only made one appearance with the big club and wasn't viewed as an integral part of the team's future. The 23-year-old, who spent most of this past season with the ECHL's Wichita Thunder, doesn't look to be anything more than minor-league depth for any organization.

Jack Campbell, G, DAL

Jack Campbell

Stars Re-Sign Campbell To One-Year Deal

News: Jack Campbell has re-signed with the Stars on a one-year, $650,000 contract.
Analysis: The 23-year-old is likely headed back to AHL Texas this season after posting an uninspiring 3.03 GAA and .907 save percentage for the team in 2014-15. The parent club has an opening for their backup goalie with Jhonas Enroth unlikely to be retained in free agency, but expect the Stars to address that vacancy outside of the organization rather than turning to Jack Campbell.

6/22/2015

Joey MacDonald, G, MON

Joey MacDonald

UFA MacDonald Heads To Germany

News: Joey MacDonald has agreed to a contract with the Schwenninger Wild Wings of Germany, The New Glasgow News reports.
Analysis: Joey MacDonald was the No. 3 goalie on Montreal's organization depth chart last season, but made all 26 of his appearances with AHL Hamilton. Now 35 years old and unlikely to latch on in a backup role with any NHL club this season, MacDonald will likely finish up his career in Europe before calling it quits.

6/22/2015

Scott Wedgewood, G, NJ

Scott Wedgewood

Devils' Wedgewood Inks Two-Year Deal

News: Scott Wedgewood signed a two-year, two-way, $1.175 million contract with the Devils on Monday, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Keith Kinkaid will likely return to his role as Cory Schneider's primary backup next season, with Scott Wedgewood assuming the role of the organization's primary AHL goaltender. Schneider or Kinkaid would likely have to suffer an injury for Wedgewood to get a look at the NHL level in 2015-16, but that certainly isn't out of the question. He was relatively solid with AHL Albany this season, going 13-14 with a 2.74 GAA and a .903 save percentage. He's only 22-years-old, so it would hardly be surprising if the Devils were to adopt Wedgewood as Schneider's primary backup after Kinkaid's deal expires at the end of the 2016-17 season.

Philippe Desrosiers, G, DAL

Philippe Desrosiers

Stars' Prospect Desrosiers Earns Top CHL Honor

News: The CHL has named Stars' prospect Philippe Desrosiers the CHL's Goaltender of the Year.
Analysis: Philippe Desrosiers finished the QMJHL season with a 2.50 goals against average and a .901 save percentage. It seems low, but in the high-scoring QMJHL that's an impressive mark from the Stars' 2013 second round pick. At just 19, he's not quite ready to be the solution to the Stars goaltending woes, but it's a bit of light out on the horizon for the franchise.

Niklas Svedberg, G, BOS

Niklas Svedberg

Bruins' Svedberg Signs With KHL's Salavat

News: Niklas Svedberg has signed a one-year deal with Salavat of the KHL, CSN New England reports.
Analysis: Niklas Svedberg was set to become a restricted free agent with the Bruins, but he'll instead spend a year in Russia after backing up Tuukka Rask in 2014-15. The 25-year-old Swede played well in limited action, finishing the season with a 7-5-1 record, 2.33 GAA and .918 save percentage. The Bruins have an intriguing goaltending prospect in the form of 21-year-old Malcolm Subban, but they may prefer to find a veteran backup for Rask.

5/3/2015

Jason LaBarbera, G, ANA

Jason LaBarbera

Ducks' LaBarbera Will Back Up Andersen

News: Jason LaBarbera will be the backup goalie Sunday against the Flames for Game 2, the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Teammate John Gibson will miss the game with the flu, and Frederick Andersen will get the start. Andersen seems firmly established as the starter at this time, which really limits any fantasy value for Jason LaBarbera.

5/1/2015

Kristers Gudlevskis, G, TB

Kristers Gudlevskis

Bolts Recall Gudlevskis

News: Kristers Gudlevskis was recalled from AHL Syracuse on Friday, Erik Erlendsson of The Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Kristers Gudlevskis was recalled solely to provide the Lightning with additional depth at goalie. It's highly unlikely he'll get any action in net during Tampa Bay's second round series against Montreal, as Andrei Vasilevskiy would almost certainly get the call if Ben Bishop suffers an injury or plays poorly.

4/28/2015

Zachary Fucale, G, MON

Zachary Fucale

Habs' Fucale Looking Better In QMJHL Playoffs

News: Zachary Fucale stopped all 25 shots he faced in Quebec's (QMJHL) 7-0 win over Moncton on Tuesday.
Analysis: Zachary Fucale had a miserable regular season with a 3.21 GAA and .885 save percentage, but he has turned it around in the playoffs to the tune of an 11-2 record to go along with a 2.23 GAA and a .920 save percentage. His stock has definitely dipped since he was selected with a second-round-pick in the 2013 Entry Draft and with Carey Price firmly entrenched as Montreal's starting goaltender for the next decade or so, Fucale may end up as trade bait sooner rather than later.
