Peter Budaj, G, MON

Peter Budaj

Kings Ink Budaj To PTO

News: Peter Budaj has signed with the Kings on a professional tryout contract, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Peter Budaj struggled while seeing limited ice time with AHL St. John's in the Winnipeg organization last season, going 0-9-6 with a 3.55 GAA and .888 save percentage. The 33-year-old clearly seems to be on the downswing of his career, but as a veteran with 296 NHL appearances on his ledger, he could provide some decent insurance in goal for the Kings at the minor-league level.

John Muse

Muse Signs AHL Deal With Texas

News: John Muse signed an AHL contract with the Texas Stars on Tuesday, 100 Degree Hockey reports.
Analysis: John Muse is expected to serve as the backup goalie in Texas behind Jack Campbell. The Massachusetts native has yet to make an appearance in the NHL, and that won't likely change during the 2015-16 season.

Dell Inks One-Year Deal With Sharks

News: Aaron Dell signed a one-year contract with the Sharks on Monday.
Analysis: The 26-year-old goaltender was solid in 26 games with AHL Worcester in 2014-15, posting a 2.06 GAA and a .927 save percentage in those contests. He will likely serve as the Sharks' primary AHL goaltender this season.

Viktor Fasth, G, EDM

Viktor Fasth

Ex-Oiler Fasth Signs With KHL Club

News: Viktor Fasth signed a one-year contract Thursday with CSKA Moscow of the KHL, Luke Fox of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Viktor Fasth was a feel-good story during the lockout-shortened 2012-13 campaign, posting a 15-6-2 record, 2.18 GAA, and .921 save percentage over 25 games with the Ducks in what marked his first exposure to the NHL level. It's all been downhill for him since then, as health issues have plagued him for much of the last two seasons while his numbers regressed considerably as a member of the Oilers. With no NHL team seriously considering him for a backup gig, Fasth will head to the KHL to ply his trade. The goalie will turn 33 in August and seems a long shot to return to North America.

Mark Visentin, G, ARI

Mark Visentin

Visentin Signs AHL-Only Deal With Blackhawks

News: Mark Visentin signed a one-year, AHL deal with the Blackhawks' affiliate in Rockford, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: The 2010 first-round pick made his NHL debut with the Coyotes last season, making one relief appearance and allowing three goals on 32 shots. While he failed to develop as the Coyotes had hoped, Mark Visentin is still just 23 years old, so he makes for a good reclamation project for the Blackhawks. A former goalie for the Canadian team at World Juniors in 2010, Visentin is unlikely to see action in the NHL in 2015-16.

Brandon Halverson, G, NYR

Brandon Halverson

Halverson Inks Entry-Level Contract With Rangers

News: Brandon Halverson signed an entry-level contract with the Rangers on Thursday.
Analysis: Brandon Halverson sits at 19 years of age and is a budding prospect who'll stick with the junior club this coming season, as he's not yet AHL eligible. He's likely several years away from reaching the NHL, making him a consideration only in dynasty leagues.

Mike Lee, G, ARI

Mike Lee

Coyotes Don't Qualify Lee

News: Mike Lee wasn't given a qualifying offer by the Coyotes and is now an unrestricted free agency, the Arizona Republic's Sarah McLellan reports.
Analysis: Mike Lee enters free agency coming off a season in which he made it to the NHL, but didn't see a minute of game action. He's had quite minimal success in the AHL and even ECHL, so Lee's not likely to wear an NHL sweater again anytime soon, but he could catch on with some franchise to offer some depth in the minors.
