Palushaj Signs Deal With Flyers

News: Aaron Palushaj signed with the Flyers on Thursday, Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News reports.
Analysis: The winger last played in the NHL in 2013-14, appearing in a pair of games for the Hurricanes. Prior to that, he spent time with Montreal (2010-12) and Colorado (2012-13). Aaron Palushaj spent 2014-15 in the KHL, playing a combined 53 games for Zagreb Medvescak and Yekaterinburg Automobilist.

Oliver Bjorkstrand

Jackets' Bjorkstrand In Hunt For Roster Spot

News: Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards, who was behind the bench for Team USA at the world championships, thinks that Oliver Bjorkstrand will push for an NHL roster spot next season, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Oliver Bjorkstrand suited up for Team Denmark in the tournament, following a massive 63 goal, 118 point season in 59 games for WHL Portland (and another 13 goals and 25 points in 17 playoff games). The speedy winger has grown a couple of inches since he was drafted in 2013, and while he'll never be an imposing physical presence on the ice, his skill and grit should serve him well as a pro.

Bolts' Erne Looking Good In QMJHL Playoffs

News: Adam Erne had a goal and two assists in Quebec's (QMJHL) Game 2 win over Rimouski on Friday.
Analysis: Quebec is already ensured a spot in the Memorial Cup (it is hosting the tournament), but that hasn't stopped the team from taking the first two games from the Oceanic in the quest to win the QMJHL championship. Adam Erne is leading the charge for the Remparts with 17 goals and 25 points in 17 playoff games. Erne had a terrific regular season (86 points in 60 games) and he should find himself playing in the AHL next year.

Blues' Prospect Barbashev To Join AHL Chicago

News: Ivan Barbashev, one of the Blues' top prospects, will join the AHL Chicago Wolves for the remainder of their season, after his junior team was eliminated from the playoffs.
Analysis: Ivan Barbashev had a big year with the Moncton Wildcats, scoring 45 goals, 95 points, and posting a plus-16 rating in 57 regular season games. He followed that up with 13 goals and 24 points in 16 playoff games. The Blues have a deep forward corps, but could be in for some changes after another first-round playoff loss. Barbashev should get the chance to compete for a spot on the club in training camp next season.

Pascal Dupuis, LW, PIT

Pascal Dupuis

Pens' Dupuis Maintaining Positive Outlook

News: Pascal Dupuis said Sunday that he's "looking ahead" in his recovery from the blood clot in his lung that ended his season in November, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. "It's been five months. It's behind me right now," Dupuis said. "Obviously I still have some more testing to do. I'm still on some blood thinners right now but I'm looking ahead right now."
Analysis: The blood clot clouds the future of the 36-year-old Pascal Dupuis, but it's at least encouraging to see him express a positive attitude about playing in 2015-16. The Penguins will wait and see how he progresses over the summer with his condition before determining if he'll be ready to go for training camp. Dupuis is under contract with the squad for two more seasons at a cap hit of $3.75 million.

Spencer Abbott

Leafs Re-Sign Abbott

News: Spencer Abbott re-signed with the Leafs on Tuesday, the Globe and Mail reports.
Analysis: The one-year deal will keep Spencer Abbott with the organization, and there's a good chance he'll spend the season in the AHL. He enjoyed a stellar season for the Toronto Marlies last season, notching 17 goals and 52 assists in 64 games. He appeared in one contest for the Leafs but failed to record a point.
