Torres has been the subject of trade rumors lately, but this performance won't do anything for his value. Brassard is only one point off his career high of 25, but he's still underwhelming as a solid prospect. Voracek, meanwhile, has no points and a minus-8 in his last six games. He should be benched in all formats for the time being. (Updated 02/03/2010).

| Derick Brassard is probably going to leave the fighting up to the Blue Jackets' enforcers in 2009-10 after he learned a hard lesson last season. Brassard suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in December after getting into his first career fight. It put a real damper on what was turning into a special rookie season for the 2006 first-rounder (sixth pick). Brassard had been named NHL Rookie of the Month for October after totaling four goals and nine assists in 10 games. He continued to play a pivotal role as one of the Blue Jackets' top centers and forwards on the power play. He would total 10 goals and 25 points in 31 games before his season came to an abrupt end. He also finished at plus-12 and had three power-play scores. Brassard was quickly becoming a hot waiver wire addition and appeared on his way to high-end Fantasy stature. Now, he has to start all over in '09-10. The reports are positive concerning Brassard's shoulder, and he should be in the mix again as a top-six forward. Consider Brassard a Fantasy sleeper Draft Day. (Updated 8/17/09) |
