NHL Offseason Review: Pacific Division
The home division of the Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings will remain a gauntlet for the teams within it. Here's a look at how teams have restructured this offseason.
Sheppard Re-Ups Contract With Sharks
Sheppard has signed a one-year contract with the Sharks.Sheppard had his struggles last year, but ended the season on a strong note with three goals and 11 assists in the final 24 games of the season. He also registered two goals and four assists through seven playoff games. He is starting to show signs of the potential he's had flashes of throughout his career.
Report: Tommy Wingels signs three-year extension with Sharks
The San Jose Sharks rewarded young forward and penalty-killer extraordinaire Tommy Wingels with a three-year extension.
|James Sheppard struggled most of the season, but finished with a fire that represented everything the Sharks -- and the Wild before them -- saw in Sheppard as a prospect. His regular season wasn't great overall (four goals and 16 assists in 67 games). But he did deliver five goals and 15 assists through his last 31 games, regular and playoffs combined. Sheppard could be a great sleeper pick if he can carry that momentum into the start of the 2014-15 season. Play your cards wisely, though. We recommend watching and waiting on him. His history isn't great, so he he needs to show us that 31-game spurt was real before we invest. (Updated 8/13/14) |
