| Fantasy Analysis |
Ericsson has no points since Nov. 23 and is minus-7 in his last nine games. It's no wonder Babcock benched him. No one is more frustrated than Ericsson about his slump, but the Swedish blueliner can't stop his struggling ways. He is a solid prospect and likely has a bright future in the NHL. Still, Ericsson remains a risky Fantasy start until he irons out his problems. (Updated 02/04/2010).

Week 17 Fantasy Hockey Planner
Plenty of developments from around the league as the Olympic break draws closer. Will Jose Theodore continue his hot play of late? Just one topic that our Michael Hurcomb touches on in his latest Fantasy Planner.
|
| Had Jonathan Ericsson not been slowed by a wrist injury in the minors last season, he would have made his debut with the Red Wings much earlier than March 3. Detroit head coach Mike Babcock had been raving about Ericsson all season and just dying to put his 6-4, 206-pound frame in the lineup. Ericsson didn't disappoint Detroit's head coach as he made his presence known at both ends of the ice. He had four points (one goal) in 19 regular-season games and continued his strong performance in the playoffs. Ericsson had four timely goals (one game winner), eight points and a plus-9 rating in 22 games. His late-season antics likely earned him a spot on the Detroit blue line heading into 2009-10. The Swedish defenseman has come a long way since being selected in the ninth round of the 2002 NHL draft. Consider Ericsson a sleeper for deeper Fantasy leagues Draft Day. (Updated 8/17/09) |
